  • macmost.com/e-2119 Preview is a great tool for viewing PDF documents. But you can do much more than just viewing. You can fill in forms, even PDFs that don't have preset fillable fields. You can password-protect them, export them as images, merge documents, rearrange and delete pages and more.

    I have a weird problem with Preview/Screenshot on my Mac that seems to have developed in the last few weeks. I normally take a screenshot of my TH-cam vids to use on TH-cam. I use preview to add text to them. My problem is now when I set the text to 200 pt size the text comes out quite small whereas before it used to be huge when set at 200 pt. I've literally formatted my MacBook Pro as thought I might have installed some software that corrupted it but it's still the same. The text size thing works fine (huge text on size 200) when I download an image or use one I've taken on my phone so maybe it's something in screenshot that has changed? Has anyone else noticed this or could you test yours to see if it does the same as it's driving me nuts!

    Thank so much for this info. Can you suggest pdf that can create? Newbie to Mac.

    • @macmost
      @macmost  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you mean an app that can create PDFs? Which app you use depends on what type of content you are creating. Pages and Word do well with books, they also can be used for newsletters and posters, but pros would use InDesign or something like that. Any app that can print can be used to create a PDF. So use the app that makes the most sense (and that you know well enough).

    Thanks for the info. Is there any way to create a Table of Contents in Preview 10?

    • @macmost
      @macmost  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, Preview isn't really a PDF "creation" tool. You create "documents" in apps like Word, Pages, InDesign, Acrobat, etc. Then you export those documents at PDFs. So go back a step to whatever tool you are using to make your document, create the TOC there, and then export a new PDF.

    • @macmost
      @macmost  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pro apps? (Final Cut, Logic, Motion) Apple doesn't really have a pro graphics app. You can't do it with their consume apps, like Pages or Keynote with a simple command. If your goal is to have a shape around a circle you can do it by putting two shapes at opposite ends of the circle, grouping, duplicating, and then rotating the new pair. Repeat as needed. Is that what you mean?

    • @macmost
      @macmost  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Various ways, depending on how the PDF was produced. If it contains images (even images that have text on them) then you can use markup tools to select and copy rectangular areas. If the PDF contains pure text, you can select and copy the text itself. But some PDFs may be protected against that.

    is there a way to select multiple pdfs in finder and press a button and have them all open simultaneously in multiple tabs instead of individual preview windows?

      If you select them all and use Command+o, it will open them all. If you have System Preferences, General, Prefer Tabs set, they should open in tabs. But Preview can be buggy in that one respect. However, you can always use Window, Merge All Windows to bring them into tabs.

    Excellent tips, thanks a lot. One more thing I need to know is "How to add page numbers to PDF files with Mac?" Can anyone please help me? I prefer not to use a third party app. 🙏

      You can't easily do that. Normally you would add the page numbers in the app you are using to create the document (Pages, Word, InDesign, etc).

      There is no Preview app on the iPad or iPhone.
