    To scan with Preview: I just revived the scan function of my old HP Officejet 5610 All-in-One just by plugging it in the USB port. No driver to install. Thank you very much!

    Dude! You are blowing my mind!. lol This is so much easier. I have been using and searching for other apps to do what you just did in less than 5 minutes. Okay, this is video #5 that has been super helpful to me and my video editing, time to subscribe. :) Also, I want to say thank you for making the instruction clear and concise. It's easy to understand.

    Another great video which shows how powerful Preview really is. Gary didn't mention that there's an Instant Alpha function that can remove a background in seconds. You just have to click the Show Markup Toolbar icon then click the Instant Alpha icon and you're off!

    A question about the 'Slideshow' feature....
    I have heard there is a way to change the duration of the slides, but i cannot find *'Settings'* anywhere in the application?? All I can find anywhere are people who post pictures of what the *'Settings page'* looks like, and some vague description of how to get to it *that never seems to work as explained.*
    How do you open *Settings for a slideshow in Preview* please?? I cannot find any way to open something called *'Settings'* anywhere, there is a *Preferences,* but that is *nothing at all having to do with slideshows.*
    *Thanks in advance!!*

    • @macmost
      @macmost  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think maybe you are seeing the settings for slideshows in another app. Maybe in Photos? You can also use Keynote or iMove to make slideshows with many more options. I have videos on each.

    That's handy being able to select what I need to import. I import a lot of dashcam video from a 32gb card and it takes ages to load before I can select. The selection is usually at the me of the recording.
    I'll try this.

      For that, what would work even better is Image Capture. See th-cam.com/video/HfsbBqMJqD4/w-d-xo.html

    Very good video. Preview sorts pages when "two pages" is selected leaving the first page alone and pairing 2-3, 4-5, etc. The only workaround I found to be able to see 1-2 together is to insert a blank page at the beginning of the document. Are you aware of another way to do acomplish this?

    Hello Garry. Is there a possibility to run a slideshow in loop?
    P.S. Thanks for the many interesting and useful video's.

    • @macmost
      @macmost  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think there is an option in Preview, but look. You can use other apps to do it though. Keynote, for instance has a loop option.

    • @ervano798
      @ervano798 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@macmost Thanks for your answer. In Preview i tried it several times, biut never found the wanted sollution. Now you did me discovering Keynote. I used it never before. And yes there is a possibility to view the presentation in loop. Just searching and find it in the settings. The only thing is, you always must first make a presentation. It would be nice if this possibility was existing in Preview. (sorry for my bad Englisch i am dutch speaking Belgian)

      Hello Garry, i found a very simple solution to view pictures in loop. I tried it in Keynote, but there is a lot of work to do. First import the pictures and fit them to te pages, make a presentation, etc......
      Now i found the solution in the Photos app. Just drag the pictures from the original folder and drop them in a new folder in Photos. Thats al i have to do. Now just click "Play slideshow" and the loop starts. I tried a 10 minutes loop running for 1.5 hour and it works without any problem. Maybe there are better solutions, but for now i am very satisfied with this solution.
      Thanks for your many interesting and useful video's.

    I have a weird problem with Preview/Screenshot on my Mac that seems to have developed in the last few weeks. I normally take a screenshot PNG or convert to JPEG of my TH-cam vids to use on TH-cam. I use preview to add text to them. My problem is now when I set the text to 200 pt size the text comes out quite small whereas before it used to be huge when set at 200 pt. I've literally formatted my MacBook Pro as thought I might have installed some software that corrupted it but it's still the same. The text size thing works fine (huge text on size 200) when I download an image or use one I've taken on my phone so maybe it's something in screenshot that has changed? Has anyone else noticed this or could you test yours to see if it does the same as it's driving me nuts!

    Hi, I have a question. Is it possible to assign a shortcut to the "open with" dialog in the finder so that I can select another program with the keyboard? So this is an alternative to command O? Or is there another short way via the keyboard in the finder? Thanks a lot in advance.

    • @macmost
      @macmost  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'd need to assign the shortcut to the actual menu item. So you can't do Open With, but you can do the items inside it. So if TextEdit is what you want, then you can assign one to TextEdit, for instance. You can also use the keyboard to access the menu bar itself, so check out th-cam.com/video/hJECYwfG2_g/w-d-xo.html

    Can anyone please help me with a question I have about my Mac pro? I have a 2009 Mac Pro that I am very happy with and I recently tried to upgrade the RAM from the 16GB I've been using with it to 32GB. The ram is OWC and says it is compatible with this system. After installing the new RAM the mac works fine but when I put the computer to sleep, when I try to wake it the computer doesn't boot up but instead give me flashing power light. It flashes three times and repeats. If I put the original mac back in, the computer can wake from sleep just fine. Can anyone help me?

    • @macmost
      @macmost  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's really off-topic for a video on Preview, but it sounds like the RAM is either bad or not sitting properly. On support.apple.com/en-us/HT202768 it shows 3 tones repeating as being "RAM doesn't pass a data integrity check." Maybe the tone is inaudible on that model and all you see is the light. Take the RAM out and put it back carefully, as maybe you didn't seat it correctly the first time. If it still happens, return the RAM. Something RAM is bad and you need to get it replaces just like any other part.
