  • Got some rice papers lying around? Take your everyday eggs up a notch with this quick and easy recipe. Inspired by Bánh Tráng Nướng, a popular Vietnamese street food, this simple dish is made with just rice paper, eggs, and a few toppings. The grilled rice paper adds a satisfying crunch, while the quick sweet chili sauce brightens up and balances out the flavors.

    INGREDIENTS (1 serving):
    1 rice paper
    1 egg
    1 green onion stalk
    1-2 deli ham slices
    ¼ cup shredded cheddar cheese
    Salt and pepper
    For the quick sweet chili sauce:
    1 Tbsp sriracha sauce
    1 Tbsp honey (or 2 tsp sugar)
    1 Tbsp rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
    ¼ tsp soy sauce
    1 Tbsp water
    ⅓ tsp cornstarch dissolved in 1 tsp water (for thickening)

    I'm definitely going to try this but will add more spices to my eggs. I'll also mix everything in a bowl then add the mixed egg to the rice paper.

      Did it spill out into the pan, and burn. Didn't it leak under the rice paper, and burn and stick? Didn't the rice paper not cook enough because of all the issue?

      @@SFVGIRL I never got around to making this. Oiling the pan eliminates sticking. Did you have any issues?

    When eating should put in the middle of the salad and herbs or sprouts, mushrooms. shrimp ... will be more delicious and nutritious, more attractive, not to mention the sweet and sour fish sauce of Vietnam, it will be very attractive!

    Anyone else here because they tried to make spring rolls but failed miserably and now need to use up the rice paper?? 😂

      I used up mine by frying in oil.
      got my oil i had hot in pot got hot enough to fry 350...try one little piece. it will instsntly puff up . and tske it out let drip then going continued dropped pieces in
      i cut into quarters or smaller strips
      oil was last bit i had in bottle. maybe 3/4 cup.
      was enough to fry half the pkg.
      i sprinkled bbq popcorn seasoning on them once all fried.
      light and very crispy snack
      at home rice chips

      @@maxineb9598 aaaah ok that makes sense! I made the version that doesn't need to be cooked in a pan, you just roll it and eat it. thinking about it, I'd probably fail the version that needs to be cooked too lol

      I found it at Meijer (similar to Walmart). Check the Asian section of your grocery store. Keep in mind where I went they put it on the top shelf so it was hard to see. Round plastic container, said spring roll paper which is what you want. I just bought it tonight just so I can make this in the morning. Might add spices because that is the kind of person I am.

      슈레드 모짜렐라 치즈도 괜찮을 것 같아요. 소스는 시판용 스윗칠리소스가 제일 편한데, 없을 경우 스리라차 소스로 만들 수 있는 방법을 보여드린 거구요. 스리라차가 없다면.. 초간단 버전으로 타바스코 같은 핫소스에 꿀을 섞으면 어떨까 싶네요.

      It may spill out of the rice paper if you beat the egg first (and also one less dish to wash) ;)

      It spills. The point of cooking the egg on the rice paper is giving it time to toast, get hot without burning. Just like the eggs because they cook fast, too.

      I haven't tried it, but it might work. I'd reheat it in the air fryer for crispness!

      Problem solved. I used a damp paper and heat too high. Dry paper, lower heat worked great.

      I'd top it with a second rice paper and once set up, turn over to brown surface, to have a sturdy round taco. Then cut in half.

    Sweet chili sauce is easy and cheap to buy in Europe - no need to make your own. And please skip the processed ham :(
