The Butterfly Garden was a 5 star read for me. The story blends so well the present with the recounting of what the victim(s) endure. Check your triggers. I feel the author gets the point across of the atrocities endured without gory detail but still can be traumatizing. I needed a lighter read lately and picked up Archer’s Voice because of your recommendation. First romance and I am loving it so far.
I'm finally getting around to the Boys of Tommen series. I read book 1 and loved it...even though the vibe change caught me completely off guard. I started book 2 the same day and powered through the first 10 chapters before falling asleep. I can't stop a series to read something else, especially a series that I enjoy, because I need to know what happens next. A good series to read that not too spicy, is The Pack. It's a 5 book paranormal, romance, paranormal romance series. It's a free series to read on audible; you don't have to use credits or anything for it. The reading order that I think is the best is book 1, book 4 (it's book 1 from the main male perspective), book 2, book 3, book 5. I honestly think this series should have had a couple more books; one for Monster and one for gran and the elder ( mores about why the friendship broke down between them and why they became enemies). I totally recommend this series.
Here for the romance recs, rather than the author’s ethnicity. But that aspect is greatly appreciated as I try to diversify my reading and find black romance recs harder to come by online. Thankfully I have a great local independent bookstore that are frequently recommending me ones too.
I read SLAY by Brittney Morris a couple months ago. She's black, the main character is black. Its YA (and that's where I, personally, struggled with it. I've become less tolerant of fictional teenagers in my 30s 😂), there's a murder and its about gaming. It came out in 2019 💜
I just finished Lyric. I enjoyed better than Luca. I thought Luca was entertaining and a page turner, but I didn’t like his character. He redeemed himself in Lyric’s book. Thank you for the recommendations.
Who in the world told you to read The Passengers first that is wrong. You should read The One first and then The Passengers because The Passengers makes a reference to The One, I don't remember if it is a spoiler reference, but it is an outright reference to The One.
There are quite a bit of people out there who regularly read and recommend black books, particularly black romance, fantasy and romantasy especially on booktube. The problem is, not all of them get the traffic/numbers they deserve. Plus if your algorithm is going to show what you usually go for so once you start diversifying, more will pop up.
