Approximately 90% of the new boot is Nicks, and about 10% remaining from the Doc Martens. At that point, toss the Doc Marten in the trash, and just wear Nicks.
That's what I was thinking 🤔...if the owner wanted a pair of Nick's boots they should have paid for that and not the price for a Doc Martens PLUS "the upgrade" price...why bother they are no longer Doc Martens
Pretty sure this is just Nicks Boots way of showing you how crappy their competitors boots actually are. I don't think anyone paid them to do this. You could if you had an old pair you wanted to revitalize but better to just buy a pair of their boots
Maybe make a Nick's riding boots! For motorcycle, and make it so its DOT and CE approved. I will definitely trust that boot riding. I love your work, wished you have more presens in Europe.
I know it's cheaper than buying a brand new pair of Nick's, but sometimes these resole videos have a very 'ship of Theseus' feel about them. There is so little of the original boot left at the end of the process. Can you really call these the same pair of boots?

GOT my first pair of DOCs in the late 1980 , my mum was sick of me going through shoes so quickly , and we didn't have at lot of money at the time . I live in the UK , we went to the local army and navy store were they sold them £29.99 for a UK size 5 I was 13 , I had those boots for years till I was 19/20 years of age had them resoled twice . I was feeling nostagic and decided to get another pair around 2008 , they were absolute crap the leather was thin and cracked in just a few months of wear I was even cleaning and polishing them , the sole wore out really quickly , in short they were nothing like what I had as a child , I put those boots through hell , and I only gave them up because my mum said they were beyond hope lol . DO NOT BUY ANY NEW DOCs THEY ARE JUST A FASHION THING NOW , NOT A SHOE THAT WILL LAST .
You have to get the maid in England. If you do that they will be great. All the other ones that are crap… 90% of them are made in Thailand. The made in England Docs will last like the old ones you remember. They cost more, but for good reason.
Anyone know what style leather Nicks uses that best matches the look of Dr. Martens? Love the color and finish of the Docs crazy horse leather but looking to get some real boots.
These videos make me want to see my timberlands that I’ve been wearing for 5 years torn apart and redone. I’m so curious how much worse the build quality is compared to nicks !
Obviously not that bad if you have been wearing them for the last 5 years. Are you having issues with them? If they worked well for you they are good enough. Not everyone needs a custom built Ferrari to drive around in. Especially when a Honda or Ford can do just fine for years. Hahaha.
Are those those Chinese or Taiwanese docs?? I'm surprised but not surprised they don't have a shank.. i remember breaking mine by accident, way back in the day. back in the 90s early 2000..
Loved your video but not sure about what you've done to the iconic DocMartens. They are there for the classic looks & been around for a very long time. Perhaps not in US but it's big in UK & also around the world including Oz. A lot of youtubers degrade the brand for it's inferior quality. Then again its designed to be worn & replaced in due time. As a note mine's is still perfect even after 3yrs. You've upgraded the material but the design is no difference than any other US made leather boots, which good and strong but it also made it looked rather bland. Would I buy this over the Docs? Probably not.
Maybe but looking at doc martins there's not much unique to them. You can get slim toe boxes in. Other boots. And as for the sole you can do that and for the yellow stitch. I don't know if doc martins owns that like the Nike squish. But you could just ask a boot maker to add than on resoling. Unless I'm missing something doc martins aren't that unique for a boot. They look pretty average to me. Same with most well known boots to average consumers like timberlands. They aren't actually that unique
