I entirely agree with your sentiments and reasons for loving the hobby so much. Not finding makes eventual finding even sweeter. I was rubbish at history at school and, like you, have invested time in researching our ancestors. We really should meet for a days detecting as we have so much in common, Cheers.
I resonated with so much of what you said here. For me the benefits of detecting include: 1) being outside and getting exercise; 2) connecting to nature and the changing seasons; 3) learning more about local and national history; 4) space to think or not think - there’s something quite meditative about the monotony and rhythm of detecting; 5) I suspect the past time appeals to our hunter/gatherer instincts!; 6) the dream of treasure. 💫
Spot on for my experience too Alex. I was gifted a detector to get me "on my feet" following a long illness, and the find of a 15/16thC sword hanger in my garden had me hooked! I have to admit that I am slightly green about your permissions, but you never fail to take us on a journey of learning, and that as well, is what the hobby has done for me.History, and that incredible feeling of unwrapping a connection to someone from the past. Thank you so much for the time you put in to these videos, and good to see Tasci out!
Thank you very much... a sword hanger in the garden trumps my Victorian farthing ... very nice!!!! Hope all well and thanks for watching! All the Best, Alexander
Hi Alexander. A great contemplation on detecting. A pleasure to see snippets of beautiful countryside, some of your stellar finds and your erstwhile co-star. I am looking forward to your late summer and autumn forays.
Well its very warm and the ground is rock hard... everything already harvested but the farmers are reluctant to cultivate yet as the ground is just too firm> Hope all well with you down there John!
Excellent video that, for me,encapsulates everything that i enjoy about the hobby.I love to observe and feel the treasures that are around us,not just those within the soil, but the wildlife and scenery, always something to be seen or heard to lift the heart. We need a couple weeks of consistent rain though,i deliberately haven't been out in ages due to the ground conditions but still wander the fields and rivers minus the detector. Thanks Alexander for an uplifting video.
Thank Edward... and yes the wildlife aspect is very important too... i didn't think of that one! Probably wouldn't have been able to fit that segment as I wanted it to be short and snappy but will remember for next time thank you! Good luck for when you do mange to get out I went out for almost the first time in weeks on a field that had just been cultivated ... very scratch signals but found a bit or two!!! All the Best, Alexander
I love that you do not use the remote, it shows True skill in this hobby and you know by the area you detect what sounds like what. Your so Fantastic Hotz like I can not watch you enough bc you not only find Incredible history but you educate us on those finds, I can not Thank you enough 😊
Wow Mandy thank you so much that was one of the nicest things I’ve read in a long time! Makes all the hard work worthwhile - hope all well with you! All the Best, Alexander
I had just finished cooking an outstanding pasta dish for tea when my other half said “I wish Holz had a video out we could watch”. And lo and behold Superholz strikes again 😊 loved every minute 👌
Thanks Melanie that was very nice to read... I could have done with a bit of your pasta though!!!! I am really glad you like d the film; I had been planning it a while just was a bit reticent about making it as I knew it was going to be a bit different... Hope all well with you two! All the Best, Alexander
You are a very good storyteller both verbally and visually... so don’t be too reticent. You are getting as familiar as the Antiques Roadshow in our home 😆
It was a find and the research I did regarding it that got me hooked. It was a medieval harness pendant and three weeks study for one find but the information I gathered about it’s owner was incredible. It took me to another time imagining his escapades and battles. His association with my area and his involvement in famous historic incidents still echo around in my head and to think I found this small piece of metal that fell off his horse while traversing my area still fascinates me.👍
How amazing Mick that sounds like a very successful bit of research you managed and very fulfilling too I imagine. And thanks for watching and hope all well!
As always another great video, thank you for such great content and editing the way you do, that just makes watching your videos so much better. I’ve been detecting in England since January of this year, and I have found some amazing history. I’m from Texas but work here in England, so as an American, detecting here is so awe inspiring to find the items I have. When you all find a George 3, it’s like, “oh, another Georgian coin” toss it in a bag and carry on. When I find one, I’m ecstatic and full of smiles. So far, I’ve found Celtic, Roman, Hammered coins, very early milled coins, Roman Votive figurine, Bronze Age Palstave Axe, Bronze Age flat Axe, Gold coin, gold ring, and gold ingot. So I’ve been very fortunate, but I spend a lot of hours doing it, 80-100 hrs a month, I’d spend more of work would allow me to. Your videos are very inspirational and I thank you for what you’ve taught me.
Wow David what amazing finds!!!! Wow - where abouts in the UK do you work/detect? Sounds like you should srat filming a few of your own escapades! Hope all well!
@@HolzHammerSagas most of my detecting is near Leek/Ashbourne area. I’m staying in Mansfield while I’m in the UK, I go home to Texas every 4-5 months for a few weeks. I’m not good a filming, I’ll pull my phone out and record some of the digs for TikTok. Normally I’m too focused detecting and will forget because I get so excited when my ears hear that perfect sound. Like you, I’m using an XP Deus but I’m using the Deus2 without the controller attached so I’m just listening to the sounds. Keep up the great videos as I enjoy them very much, maybe one day I’ll get to meet you.
Thank you for the video. It's so nice when you meet wonderful landowners in this hobby and I would never have seen such beautiful scenery in the fields on the shores of the lakes. Greetings to Tascy from here in Finland and hope to see her soon.
Hi Alex, I really appreciate your comments regarding the ability of the hobby to make history tangible and to bring it to life. You're absolutely one of my favorite metal detectorists for that reason. The thrill of history coming alive rather than the value of these objects. Yes, here in the northeastern USA we do have some opportunities for older finds but not like you Europeans have. Also your format is really accessible for someone with almost no historical knowledge at all. It gives me a chance to learn too. Thank you again and give some pats to dear little Tasci.
Totally agree that 50% of the fun is researching the finds at home and placing them on the metaldetecting forums. Another incredibly fun part is cleaning the finds. It always clears my mind 😁
Hi Alex. It always fascinates me how people get into the hobby of metal detecting. Both me and my brother would never of ever thought about metal detecting without an occurrence happening to our Dad. 😀. Back in the mid 70's Dad was at work and during a break he read an article in a paper left by a fellow worker. 📜. The article title was " Golden Gary Finds Sword ". A young lad finds a Viking sword in a river not far from where I live. After reading that my Dad said if he can find that eyes only what could I find with one of those fancy electric devices. 😊. Here we are now 45 years later still going out and finding things. 🙂.
What a great story! I always wanted to detect as a kid but then a long time passed before i actually did it.... spent a long time collecting fossils from the East Anglian fields though! Hope all well!
I love the research aspect of the hobby and like you, I’ve learned so much about our amazing history since I started. Far more than I ever took in at school. Another excellent video Alex. Thanks for sharing, take care and be lucky. 🇬🇧😃👍🏻
Yes you got it Alex! All those reasons but also the exercise for me and the technical aspect too. Another really well put together video. I was out on the beach this evening and found a piece with a magnificent Celtic design. When I got home it had transformed into a piece of half melted moulded plastic sheet with Celtic design embossing. 👍
Ha! That made me laugh I am sorry Old P!!!! Celtic from the beach and I think i would have hung up my detector and mounted it above the fireplace!!!! Hope all well and thanks for your thoughts on the hobby... All the Best, Alexander
Fantastic video Alex, Adrian from The Big Detecting Show who use to be my neighbour remembers me at the age of 8 digging holes in my parents garden looking for historical items. My mum use to give me a spot to dig in the garden every month, got my first detector at the age of 10 a great Tandys machine and now at the age of 45 I have my Deus and love it and use your settings which are fab 👍👍
I think the one I bought was a Tandy is one as well funnily enough! And gosh you started very early didn't you? Your poor mum digging up the garden! Anyway, hope all well and thanks for watching, All the best, Alexander
Fabulous video Alexander! If anyone who isn’t a detectorist happens to watch it I’m sure it will inspire them to give it a go. I’ve been detecting for years and I’m an angler as well. The two hobbies are very similar in many respects. Both are very relaxing and with both you never know what you’ll be taking home! All the best and your videos are fabulously entertaining, Joe.
Good thoughts Joe... I fish too and do do you know, I'm not sure which one I would give up first if I had to leave one of the hobbies! One of the only differences is that you never lose your fish metal detecting; it might not be very nice but once you locate something it's there till you find it! Thank you very much for watching and for your kind words, all the best, Alexander
Gads! I have missed seeing you and Tasci. It's been a month! We have finally turned a corner here. Right now I am sitting outside on my laptop with wee sprinkles. The main portion is just north of me a mile. Grrr I do envy you your history. Since I started watching metal detecting video's since 2020, mainly from your Isle, I have learned history I didn't know. I do love English, Scottish and Welsh history due to my ancestry. I have yet to find an Irish Detectorist.
Another great video. I wanted to tell you one of the things I love about it is the thought of what has passed since the person lost the item and the possible circumstances around that. Even a 20th century object could have been in the dark whilst the aeroplane was invented, mobile phones, the internet, we travelled into space! Then I wander along and liberate it from its slumber 😊 brilliant
Just love watching the entertaining videos . thank you, I'm not fit enough to swing the things but used to 25 - 35 yrs ago. was young then. met some great folk.
Thank you Richard - and I bet you found a few nice things back then though didn't you? Thank you very much for watching and hope all well! All the Best, Alexander
Thankyou Alexander you summed up totally why we do the hobby! I have learned so much about history since detecting, its being in the fresh air beautiful scenery, and true to say you can go out and find rubbish, it took me 9 months till I found my 1st hammered coin, , Keep posting your videos Love to watch! 👍
An excellent look at the hobby. For me the best part of detecting, is wandering around the beautiful countryside. No headphones , makes it even better....I have had gold 1762 quarter guinea love token, but I never seen an Elizabethan one...atb Paul
Thanks Tim! I wanted some different music for that one and ran out of time searching so wasnt ideal what i chose i wanted something more thoughtful really... I really need something upbeat but a bit dreamy too for the Autumn detecting videos if you have any ideas...(. or a bit of time on your hands and some creative juice!!! 😁) I ve a bit on today but will email you later - hope all well with you over there! All the B, Ally
Totally agree with you Alexander, it all about the hunt, never knowing what will be unearthed next!! I tell people that ask me what I find, that to be honest 99% of finds will be just rubbish but it is that 1% of finds that makes it all worthwhile and not of monetary value but of historical value for me. Keep on producing these wonderful videos - we all love them👍
Great vid Alex ! I am in Canada detecting and to find a Victorian or George 3rd is as big a deal as medieval finds in Europe. The finds are not so old but historically can be very important ( although some native finds can be several thousand years old ). Your bang on with enjoying the outdoors, getting glimpses of wild life that many others miss and the constant possibility of something tremendous just waiting for you to walk over it 😉
Well thats it isn't it Steve - the possibility.... and not to get your hopes up... and well done on your George III was it in good condition? And I also suspect the detecting in Canada you get spectacular scenery sometimes don't you? Hope all well and thanks for watching 🙏
Your right but nothing nicer than a stroll in fresh air and peace and quiet. Finding a nice item a bonus. I agree about remote but use it now due to my hearing getting worse. My only regret I didn't do this twenty years ago. Good luck on your next search 🍀👍
You are spot on. To add to and for my digging madness is US civil war relics and the occasional revolution war items show up. Not the ancient items you guys get but has kept my interest for 35 years or so. Nothing better for the soul and brain health thinking of the last human to touch the found item and the steps put in. We do pick up stone tools and weapons from Native Americans. Thanks for the videos
I agree with you about school history lessons. We were well drilled in 19th century politics but missed out on the vast proportion of our history that lies beneath our boots. Thanks for an inspirational video that encourages me to dip into this pastime.
Thank you for watching David! And I certainly wouldn't put you off dipping in to this pastime just don't spend too much at first and make sure you have somewhere to do it! All the Best and Good Luck, Alexander
This was one of your best videos from my perspective - it really felt like a conversation (one-sided of course) where I could feel your honest enthusiasm and appreciation for what you do. Too many metal-detecting channels slip into a same-same mode and focus on quantity rather than quality. It’s always nice to see somebody doing what they love doing and with realistic expectations where having an enjoyable time isn’t only about hitting a jackpot. I love the locations and scenery as well as the fact that you often pause to take them in, regardless of how well the detecting is going (I’m also an ex-pat who left England behind a long time ago and your videos sometimes leave me longing to get back home but it’s a long way from NZ!) So thank you so much for sharing what you do and how you share, I really appreciate it.
That was very nice to read John thank you and thank you for taking the time to write it. And talking about lovely locations and scenery New Zealand has it all hasn't it? Somewhere I would love to visit one day.... Hope all well down there! All the Best, Alexander
Hi Alex. Well, I think you covered that question spot on in your video. Really enjoyed it and thank you for sharing. Crops of my way now yes its probably to hot but I've waited too long for harvest so all charged up for searching. Best Paul.
Thanks Craig much appreciated! Hope all well with you! I haven’t been out much recently but I’m planning on a bit of a mission today even though it’s going to be very hot here too I’m just going to take it easy and enjoy myself and hope you do too stay cool! I’ll email you sometime this week👍
Brilliant vid as always 👍researching finds is a big part of the hobby for me 👍I don't find a great deal my way but it takes hours of looking in books and online and that's the buzz for me 👍keep um coming mate 👏👏👏👏
You learn a lot don't you and glad to hear you use books Rob too... I don't have that many but quite keen to start getting a second hand library together.... Hope all well and thanks for watching!
Agree 100% with everything you have said. Sadly I had to write a history essay on the Inca's for my exam many moons ago. If I had my time again after doing this hobby, I would have like to have been an archaeologists or something along those lines😊
What a fab video… thank you! I have a tiny amount of kit now so would really like to find a love token - what a treat to see your collection and your beautiful little cabinet :) x
Still got a couple of old detectors in the garage hanging up. It's always nice to find something with history and age whether it's a coin or artifacts. I enjoyed the video Alexander keep well and I will see you on the next.
Cool video from a cool guy Alex!! Well done, because you highlight all that's good about detecting. I was chatting to a young couple recently who are at Cambridge University...mentioned I detect and they asked 'what do you do with your finds, sell them?'!!! If only they knew. Thanks for video, they're always a treat to watch. All the best.
Thanks Trevor, hope all well! The question I most often get asked is "how deep does it go?"! It's very warm here but hopefully a bit cooler where you are! All the best, Alexander
@@HolzHammerSagas Hopefully you're still near the beach...we're just a handful of miles from Southwold so enjoying a much needed fresh breeze. Regarding depth of finds, I'd rather dig 4 inches than 12 as it's guaranteed iron at 12+😂!!! Stay fit.
I haven't really been out in weeks - i've quite enjoyed the break actually but raring to go... a good field has just been cultivated so that will be a nice start for me - good luck when you do get out Len and All the Best, Alexander
The late John Lynn AKA the Norfolk Wolf reviewed many different makes of metal detector on TH-cam over the years including XP models. John's mantra was "you need information" when scanning targets. If you have paid for a Deus remote then why keep it at home or in your pocket when it can give you a second opinion. In time I familiarised myself with the numbers in conjunction with the audio. After using the Deus (one) with the remote over the past ten years I'm still pulling out cut quarters and air gun pellets so I don't think I'm missing much. I think it comes down to 'whatever floats your boat' at the end of the day. Happy Hunting Alexander.
Loved this video Alexander, its strange how we all end up in this glorious hobby of ours. For me i love the buzz in saving a piece of history. Looking forward to more grear videos.
Thanks SH, much appreciated... the comments to this video are so nice to read and most peoples experiences are very similar but not totally - we all like it in slightly different ways it seems!!! Hope all well and thanks for watching!
You summed it up really well, Ally. Sure, you'll always have the treasure hunters but they usually give up when gold hasn't surfaced within 5 minutes. Detecting can be (and usually is) a slog, a grind, a fruitless search - but persistence pays off, not in riches but in interesting finds. Great video, chap.
Thank you so much Claire! And thank you so much for your letter which was really lovely to receive and I love the feathers… I think two of them are buzzards and I’m not sure the third isnt a barn owl or maybe a kestrel it’s got some red in it hasn’t it… Anyway I hope all well with you and you are staying cool! Excellent Video Alexander, really informative and I love hearing about you’re personal experience of the hobby. As a fellow Detectorist i thought this was a very enjoyable watch indeed. Thanks for making it mate. ATB 👍👍
I also agree with everyone else it can be hard to be motivated but if you just get the odd coin or something of local historical interest to research it makes it all worth while that magic moment when you you stand with a find in your hand knowing your the first person to touch it since it was lost or burried
I know it can be a bit mind blowing that feeling, cant it Gordon?! I get it when I dig up Celtic coins - I know that makes it sound like it happens all the time but it doesn't 😂 thank you very much for watching and hope all well
Treasure comes in so many shapes, it may be finding a random strangers dropped keys or a friends lost wedding ring! But out of place pieces of history make for great stories and just stoke the imagination.
I've been detecting on and off since the mid 70's with my twin brother who is sadly no longer with us, out of the 2 of the two of us he never stopped and was always getting wonderful finds in Kent, I am finally getting back into it bad back or not.
Good to hear Peter and sorry your brother is no longer with us to join you - more finds for you I guess!!🙂 Thank you for watching and hope all well, All the Best, Alexander

That certainly caught my interest Alex. I don't metal detect, too old etc, but I regularly buy at boot sales etc. and mostly I find the research aspect more fulfilling than the actual buying of the object. I keep a lot of things but I'm well ahead financially in the items I decide to move on. Masonic, military and police items are my interest. I too think you summed up detecting. Though I think the vast majority of people are decent folk hungry for history and the thought of finding something nice or valuable. There are those that are just interested in finding things and selling things. I'm interested Alexander in potential training on the deus. I have bought the deus 2. But I fo love my CTX 3030.

I have been lucky enough to find a gold coin once It was a gold half guinea of George 2nd 1759 and was bent into a love token .it was struck 200 years before my birth in 1959 and was also the birth year of Robert Burns which was also a personal connection to myself I have found numerous love tokens of different eras and denominations most bent exactly like the one in the video but also coins where all details have been erased these ones are usually not bent and have initials stamped into them.
Hi Alexander another great video i always look forward to the next one. On the subject of the love tokens it was actually a hanging offence to deface a coin hence why they would have been such a token of endearment back then and the polished ones where the monarchs face and reverse have been totally removed must have been something special. But I'm looking forward to your next adventure in this great hobby keep up the good work Terry

@@HolzHammerSagas It is roles reversed, British style cold and wet here while you are experiencing Australian summer heat levels.
@@melaniemcconville1405 Ha! Thanks Melanie!!!! 😂
Thanks Anno800! Hope all well with you and I am glad you liked the film! All the Best, Alexander
Course I will Tucker and thank you for the kind words! Glad to be of assistance and hope all well over there! All the Best, Alexander
Totally agree that 50% of the fun is researching the finds at home and placing them on the metaldetecting forums. Another incredibly fun part is cleaning the finds. It always clears my mind 😁
yes I agree the cleaning bit is very therapeutic! Hope all well Ruben thanks for watching!
Thanks Deano... so true how much we learn isn't it... its one thing most of us definitely have in common!
@@HolzHammerSagas Well at least I had that euphoric feeling for an hour or two. 👍
I think it’s a great hobby because when you dig you never know what you’re going to get. It’s like a lucky bag! We’re all kids at heart 😊
Arent we just??!! 😁
Yes indeed, finding is just the beginning of the process! Brilliant work Alexander!
Thanks Guys! 🙏
Glad its a bit more clement over there Cyndye! Hope you and the pack all well!
Nice words Richard thank you! I especially like "liberate"! Hope all well and good luck out there! All the Best, Alexander
I bet you've found a few since then though Dave! 😁Thanks for watching and hope all well!
An excellent look at the hobby. For me the best part of detecting, is wandering around the beautiful countryside. No headphones , makes it even better....I have had gold 1762 quarter guinea love token, but I never seen an Elizabethan one...atb Paul
wow that gold love token sounds very special well done!!! Hope all well Paul and thanks for watching! All the Best, Alexander
Excellent Alex!!
Yes...the thrill of the unknown is what it is about....I love it. Great video!!
Keep on producing these wonderful videos - we all love them👍
Thanks Bodger - very much appreciated!!! Yes its the 1% that makes it worthwhile! Hope all well with you!!!
I enjoyed this film, keep up the good work!
Much appreciated!!!! Hope all well - man its hard the ground down here...
Thanks Jesse - you too and I agree - finding a nice item is a bonus and its nice to get a bonus! Hope all well with you!
Thanks for watching BC - Civil War stuff would interest me too... tough times I imagine. Hope all well over there! All the Best, Alexander
I love the locations and scenery as well as the fact that you often pause to take them in, regardless of how well the detecting is going (I’m also an ex-pat who left England behind a long time ago and your videos sometimes leave me longing to get back home but it’s a long way from NZ!)
So thank you so much for sharing what you do and how you share, I really appreciate it.
Best Paul.

You learn a lot don't you and glad to hear you use books Rob too... I don't have that many but quite keen to start getting a second hand library together.... Hope all well and thanks for watching!
It's definitely not the monetary value of the find, it's the history plus the connection with those that went before us.
As usual Alex, top quality 👍
Thanks Grassy, and wise words... hope all well with you!
Agree 100% with everything you have said.
Sadly I had to write a history essay on the Inca's for my exam many moons ago.

Thanks for that Gary - very insightful and sorry not to have got back to you sooner! All the Best, Alexander
Brilliant Alexander absolutely brilliant all your hard work is is much appreciated 👍

I get it when I dig up Celtic coins - I know that makes it sound like it happens all the time but it doesn't 😂 thank you very much for watching and hope all well

brilliant vid, agree with everything, ive been metal detecting for the 3rd year now and been fortunate to find some great find like your self, but like you say it isnt about the money its mainly about being out in the open stress free, looking for lost treasure to research and maybe even rewrite history, i have coin in british museum with my name under it that alone is enough for me, but the addiction is for real, im out 4 times a week, im 34 and will be doing this until im unable to walk again or bend down with bad knees , anyways always look forward to your vids, one of the best on youtuber :}

@@HolzHammerSagas 1990 ish buddy, I actually got in trouble for ( ashamedly ) writing “Group 4 security looking after a baby” beneath a photograph of absolute chaos in the book 😱😔😆
I served a tour in Belfast and one in South Armagh while I was in the Marines and did have a chuckle about the only thing I needed to see next was an Oxbow lake and my education would be complete! 😃👍
My Wife Mel ( who got me hooked on your channel ) and I celebrated loudly when we saw you’d dropped me a sub 🤗 thanks Legend 🙏🤝
@@bugsy742 well what I saw was amazing!!!! And quite mesmerizing too - I have a thousand more questions but will put them to your channel! Any more flight videos planned?
@@HolzHammerSagas ask away brother 🤗🤝

Hi Alex love ur chanel, where would be the best place to go to find roman artifacts
Crikey Alex thats a tricky one they could honestly be anywhere... don't be put off if you think an area isnt "roman" I have found Roman bits in the most unlikely places... Good Luck and All the Best, Alexander
Great content mate you make lovely videos keep up the great work
Thanks Ian - much appreciated words! Hope all well with you!
I think you may be too experienced for me to help you Anthony! I mainly lean towards getting people to use their ears with the sounds the deus I makes and I think thats very different to the new one from all accounts... Looking forward to hearing how you get on with it though! Hope all well!
Well done Alexander a nice steady, informative and clear video good your posting again mate thank you 👍
Thanks Tim much appreciated... still havent been out much but have enjoyed then break and now raring to get back in them there fields!!!! Hope all well!
@@HolzHammerSagas all good thank you have a good evening 👍
@@beano3868 you too 😀
I have been lucky enough to find a gold coin once It was a gold half guinea of George 2nd 1759 and was bent into a love token .it was struck 200 years before my birth in 1959 and was also the birth year of Robert Burns which was also a personal connection to myself I have found numerous love tokens of different eras and denominations most bent exactly like the one in the video but also coins where all details have been erased these ones are usually not bent and have initials stamped into them.
Gosh Gordon that sounds amazing your gold coin; you'd be lucky enough to find one which hadn't been bent into a token! All the Best, Alexander
Great! 👍😊
Thanks Guss! 🙏 Hope all well!
Very well put together video.
I’ve been doing detecting for a few months 3 at the most so I’m a bit of a rookie. You’ve earned my Sub Ally!
Thanks Jamie - much appreciated! Are you using a Deus? Hope all well and thanks again! All the Best, Ally
Hi Alexander another great video i always look forward to the next one. On the subject of the love tokens it was actually a hanging offence to deface a coin hence why they would have been such a token of endearment back then and the polished ones where the monarchs face and reverse have been totally removed must have been something special. But I'm looking forward to your next adventure in this great hobby keep up the good work
Terry
Thanks Terry I didnt know about the punishment aspect but it makes sense - good knowledge - you see I have learnt something from my own video!!!! 🙏 Hope all well and thanks for watching! all the Best
Yes another information video. Keep them coming young man. Any way where us my stick of rock from Devon.
I forget to bring it back with me sorry Tim! Hope all well!!!
I love the intro on this video. Do you mind if I share it next weekend for my 3 day Metal Detecting Marathon livestream?

Great video Alexander… any new detectorist should watch this, as it’s all true…
Thanks Andy - glad you liked it; I really enjoyed making that one! All the Best and Happy New year! Alexander
Great video!
Thank you Jenny much appreciated 🙏 and hope all well!
I really enjoyed that.
Thanks Carol!!!
well done Alex keep it up..
Thanks dazza - hope all well!
Agree with all you said. Quite intrigued by these love tokens. Never found one on the continent. is it a typical UK phenomena?
Do you know Corne I am not completely sure.... i will look into it as thats a good question. I know they can be quite early... not just the William III which seem to be the most common... do you find early (deliberately) folded hammered coins?
@@HolzHammerSagas Hi Alex, no I do not find deliberately folded coins. Only the ones that are hit by the plough. I do find deliberately cut coins (halfs and quarters).
But "We do" Here on the east coast of America, Before U.S. coins were used, We had British coins, Spanish coins being used by settlers. My "Time machine" allows me to reach back in time over 300 years. Addiction to time travel for over 40 years now.
Hi KD8GIS Bruce, hope all well! Love the term "time machine"! I bet you have found some amazing things over 40 years... Thanks for watching! All the Best, Alexander
