      back in the day the cars were like cars today not many thought about this car was going to be sought after it was just a old car junk it get a new one. My Father had nice cars growing up and he would drive them and sell them or junk them he said if he knew those cars were going to be worth anything he would of kept them but at the time it like having a 10 year old car today when it breaks just buy a new one. I was not until the 90's people started to realize these things are worth something.

    It blows my mind that these cars are left like this. I remember friends having cars just like this in high school in the late 70's early 80's and they even knew at that time how important these cars where then.

      Remember, back in 1980, cars from the 70's and older weren't even close to that age where they were collectable. Thus, people didn't give two shits what happened to them or what they did to them. And that goes for any vehicle brand then... just think why a 68 charger is rare cause if that TV show... This is what makes me mad ,when there's nothing wrong with it ,and you just put a new motor in it ,and just park it outside ,with the hood up mind ya for no obvious reason whatsoever ,it's 1 thing for a mom ,dad ,or wife to park a deceased owners car but when the owner does it ,that's just sad

  • @jeffreyb6165
    @jeffreyb6165 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Anyone who would own a classic like this and not take 3 seconds of their time to even close the hood doesn't deserve it period! But im sure like most of these cars that are found the conversation with the owner would go something like ....
    Looker: Hey, you interested in getting rid of this car?
    Owner: Nope, gonna fixer up.
    Rinse/repeat conversation over the years until the car literally rots to the ground.
    I can show you at least 3 cases of this happening around my area where one of them actually has a small tree growing inside of it. Owner has been "gonna fixer up" for 30 years now.
    For whatever reason these people have no real intention of fixing up anything, but they can't stand the thought of someone else actually doing something with it.

    In the north east we would have killed for a car that had those solid quarters, doors and fenders!!

      In Arizona we crush junk like this.

      @@king0cans They still look good but I was referring to 1980 when it was parked. By then a North east car would have no floors and quarters flapping in the breeze.

    Good they left the hood up and window down so the engine could air out and stay dry preventing any rust removal and the interior could stay in near perfect condition during the upcoming restoration.

    The saddest part of this is it'll be there for another 40 years. What a damn shame.

    My friend found a 1970 chevelle ss 454 while remodeling an old lady's house the other day. She's asking $10k and it's been sitting in a hay barn since 2008. It's in NM and doesn't look to have any rust. Any way i can send you the pictures i have? My friend took the pics and couldnt pop the hood, so idk if its #s matching or what. My dad and I are waiting on permission to go check it out ourselves.

    just to remind y'all there was a fuel crisis in the 70's. Many muscle cars were parked and neglected by owners simply because the gas was expensive and sometimes hard to get. I know of several high performance engines were removed and mundane low horsepower turds put in. One in particular off hand was a 1963 Impala SS 409 425 horse 4 speed was replaced with a 283 2 barrel powerglide

    Such a shame that people leave these to rot. Savable if you have a nice wad of cash and a couple of years to wait for it. Way to much metal to replace.
