I love them.
The original elevators that were there were installed in 1990, made by Miami Elevator. You can tell by the shaft side door sill. They also still retain their original DC machines; however, the generators were replaced with SCR technology. The original Miami cabs were bronze coated with black stain.
So these came from Miami? Miami elevator was a distrubitor of dover I believe.

Generic wity Anams Survivor-D vr (pre-MAD era) Dover/Miami replacement. Two are high-speed at 1000fpm. The rest are 100-150fpm hydros.

I wanted to come down here and ride these, but this part of the metro is currently shut down for summer track work along with expansions for the new purple line.

I went on the Forest Glen Elevators on 9/27/2021!!! Elevators 1, 2, and 3 are in construction, but Elevators 4 & 5 were working when I was there, but Elevator 6 was turned off when I was there.
They probably need a lot of maintenance since they run so much.

They are quick
They are doing maintenance/construction on these Elevators, not sure what. Just noticed a couple weeks ago (8/22) when using the Metro, half the elevators were closed off.
I wonder if they are getting another mod?

I would like Elevator 4 the best there because it’s the left elevator closest to the Glenmont side.
They are so fast. The motor on the one was pretty epic.
@@DieselDucy my moms family lives in MD and I always start from sometimes Rockville and sometimes Glenmont.
Here’s what Forest Glen Elevators I rank from best to worst just in my opinion because people have their own opinions on that.

I hate to admit it but these elevators are undergoing a mod :( Cars 1-3 are the first to be modded, so that epic motor is probably a goner.. You should come back here and see if the mod is done.

Wow, those are some really fast elevators, and does anyone know who manufactured these elevators, or were these custom installed by WMATA themselves?
I know us elevator had the contract for them for the longest time. If it was before the us buyout they are probably us
@@DieselDucy Perhaps so, but if it's after the US buyout, these might be Thyssen elevators, or some local independent company that has a contract with WMATA.
