Usually most transactions are easy, we make it do the burden to prove damage occurred on a rental falls on us, but what happens when a customer acknowledges the damage but then fights the charge?

$100.00???? "Did you see the starlight roof?" 🤣🤣
:D
Bruh that roof is worth at least $100.
Rob should put the Mercedes on Cars and Bids with no reserve
Should get more than $100 at least
I'd love to see Doug and Rob in the same video,

Never buy a Mercedes from an Italian businessman in New York
THIS
The aux battery malfunction isn't fixed by jumping it. It's the secondary battery that powers the interior of the car and the only way to fix it is usually to replace it. I work for a dealership near you in Nanuet, NY.
So you're saying for $1,000 we can stand on the hood of an S class?
Deal!
I rented an exotic car for a weekend in LA and a week after returning it I got charged a $250 “cleaning fee” and messaged the owner and he said “we checked GPS and saw hard acceleration, turning, and braking.” I was like no shit i didn’t rent it to drive around slow 😂 did a chargeback for the cleaning fee and sent Amex our messages and pictures when I returned the car spotless, got the 250 back
Lol 'cleaning fee' thats where he lost.
Sounds very unlicensed if they would tell you the reason was not what they charged for
I just realized Robs videos are basically just Seinfeld podcasts centered around cars
It no longer surprises me how many people refuse to do the right thing.
I give it another 50 years and we’ll have a complete societal collapse.
@@markm0000 50 years is being pretty generous, it'll happen way sooner than that
@@markm0000 New World Order is here give it 9 years max, Agenda 20
There's too much of the "not my car not my problem".
I despise people who beat the piss out of rentals.
Especially (in this issue) a $120,000 Benz because "Oh I didn't do it".
You had every oppourtunity to inform Rob it happened, or to report the damage if in fact 'some kids ran on the hood'.
Because you know that same party would complain that the hood was scratched or something to that effect.
You probably rented the car to an Instagram "influencer"
Rob is correct. If I borrow my friends truck and I break the mirror or it's damaged in a parking lot. Doesn't matter. I'm responsible. Put on a mirror and replace the gas. Or don't borrow it. No different than renting a car, or leasing a car. Pay up!
@303StreetMachines I have several.
@@SeanPennII trucks are money maker's. Enjoy your Prius
When something gets damaged, yes, it is under your care and control so you're responsible. But if it is something like wear, or the vehicle breaks down, no, you're not. Say the alternator goes out, the renter isn't responsible for that.
I bring this up because my truck was in the shop for a while awaiting a new engine. My gf would say "just borrow my car to do groceries and stuff" and I was hesitant because HER attitude is: if the muffler was rusted out, and it falls off while I'm driving it, I have to pay for it lol. Wait what? you put 200,000 kms on the car over 10 years, and I put 5 kms on it in an hour and the muffler goes, how the hell do you figure I'm responsible? lol
@@muskokamike127 it's your girlfriend dude if something's wrong with her car you should fix it even if you weren't driving it. What the happened to chivalry?
@@Phil-rs5wl Chivalry? lololol OMG where have you been? in a time capsule? Us men aren't even supposed to hold open DOORS for women anymore!
So, just to get this straight, I should fork out $1500 for a new muffler for her car because I used it to get groceries for an hour? (and yes, that's what it cost because it was a complete unit from the cat to the tail pipe, dealer price). Sorry buddy, that S on my forehead stands for Sexy not SUCKER.
My neighbor stripped your lambo down to the frame, here's the vin tag back, your problem now lol
Did you ever get the rim you had to pay for, in Europe.
You just reminded me !
We need a update
I agree. We need closure haha
We can ask Rob on livestream tonight
We would need to spam the live tonight to get an answer. To bad I’ll be at work.
I’m glad to hear how honest and transparent u are Rob keep up the good work
Thank you for this message about chargebacks. I own an online business and the amount of chargebacks online businesses receive is excessive! Totally unjustified and sometimes the customers win, get their money back, and keep what they purchased. It's asinine! I believe there should be stricter consequences on people committing fraudulent chargebacks.
I love how Rob explains things
$100 is less than scrap value
yeh that’s why they offered it
That's a "go away" offer...
This is why i have respect for you Rob, you have transparency, are fair and reasonable.
It’s simple. They don’t want to be held accountable for their own actions. Lol.
This sounds like it wasn't their own actions. This is why renting cars should be avoided, damage you don't cause is billed to you and the rental car companies refuse to use their own insurance when they should be.
@@_PatrickO yea had rental company in Brooklyn. I turned car in. We went over car nothing wrong. Then I get a call 4 hours later saying there is $1,500 in damage I need to pay for.
What happens to the car after I turn it in isnt my responsibility lol
Yup! That is totally normal for some one who has some serious personality disorder.
@@_PatrickO They should have taken better care of it
@@saulsanchez1909 Sorry, but renting is a scam because rental companies should be providing their own insurance to cover the car. I am fine with the person renting still covering medical or deliberate damage via their own insurance.
The entire insurance industry profits on the fact that they can charge loss of use. It is what they are after.
You should just offer a broke ass rapper package at an upcharge that includes a 3m film installation on the hood trunk and roof and some sort of PDR insurance through your body guy.
Lol rich the kid shoulda taken advantage of that
All those companies that "buy any car" exist with the same business model. For cars that they can easily re-sell (new cars) they low-ball you and then slightly mark up on sale, make profits off the margins, which is only 3k or 4k per car. For anything old, anything 90's, they offer like $100-$1000 depending on condition. I took a very solid IS300 to Carmax for example (that I later sold for 5k) and they offered me $1000 because they had no intention of re-selling, just straight to auction. So yes, to them your $1000 Merc is worth $100 because they know it won't fetch anymore than peanuts at salvage auction.
I get it if someone crashes or something like that, that's logical, but I remember a guy having a flat tire and you charged him a new one. I think the company should cover that. Imagine spending thousands of dollars on a rental and after a few minutes you get a flat tire. Not your fault because you were driving carefully. You're stuck on the side of the road, a flatbed truck picks up the car, so it's out of service and on top of that you charge the tire. It would be a very unpleasant experience and I would never rent a car from you again.
This video is a great view at why Gotham Dream cars makes money. Rob is honest and fair. People come back to him or refer him to others. People who damage his shit and dispute it, never comes back and that's a good thing
I love that Mercedes so much, such a nice daily car. I think you should give it a good clean and service it properly, it will serve you well once you sort the issue out.
That c8 is amazing! I rented it last week and oh my what a wonderful car! I wish I would’ve seen you there
Turn the Mercedes into a snowplow

My Lamborghini hurricane has never been in a crash...
Next video- my Lamborghini hurricane just got totaled
Several years ago I was on a business trip in England. I picked up a hire car at the airport and had it for a couple of days. When I returned the vehicle I was surprised when the rental company found damage in the form of a bulging tire. They had not done an inspection of the vehicle with me before I took the car out on rental so there was no way to know if the bulge had been present perhaps
from the previous hirer. They wanted me to accept liability for the damage but I refused as I knew I had not kerbed the tire. Essentially what had happened is they had rented me a vehicle in an unroadworthy condition as the tire could have blown out at any time.
Finally!! That damn sign is fixed!!!! That sign guy is the biggest troll of 2020
People love to abuse charge backs. Had a customer charge back my company for over $20k on charges over a year because they never paid attention to the invoices that were sent and they realized a year later that prices had changed for what they were buying. Rather than charging back the difference they had the audacity to charge back the entire amounts over the past year. 😒
I've been really screwed by turo and outdoorsy multiple times where the owner's car / RV failed due to poor maintenance and they try to pin it on me. I've also been in a situation where the owner tries to blackmail you with extra fees when picking up (example double the rental price because I'm attempting to tow with the vehicle when a tow hitch was advertised), knowing that the customer was relying on the vehicle being available on a certain date and they have no other choice. This is why I no longer rent anything from individual owners
I agree with you rob, but in SOME cases I will charge back the whole charge, like for example I bought 2 Milwaukee power tools from Home Depot that were supposed to include a free battery 2 pack. They charged me the overpriced cost of the tools, which I accepted because of the free batteries, and they charged me full price for the batteries. They wouldn’t refund me the cost of the battery, they would take a refund me or let me return all of the items, and they wouldn’t even give me a store credit, so in that situation, yea I could only charge back the cost of the battery, but I would have never bought any of it in that case, and since depot failed to deal With their employees or their computers screw up a charge back the whole thing.
I tried to give them the items back but they told me to get lost.
99% of the time I’m with you though.
Why did you agree to buy them in the first place if you knew the batteries were supposed to be free and they charged yo for them?
Mexican Spec “agree” lol you’re a smart one aren’t ya. I spent $4,000 on tools and equipment/supplies and trusted they would be rung up as they were supposed to.
Are you one of those people that stand there watching each item as it’s scanned at the register and has each price memorized and throws a fit when your coupon doesn’t make it the price you wanted and then takes out your checkbook and spends 10 minutes writing a check while the people behind you do all they can to resist smacking you?
Smart assery aside, sorry if it seems I went a bit harsh on you, it’s impossible to tell people’s intentions or tone via text though and on youtube comments usually it’s not kindness. If you weren’t trying to be a prick with your question then I apologize for being a prick in response, I figured you’re suggested I’m a dumb ass for “agreeing” to the wrong price though, and if that’s the case then my gfy attitude stands lol.
In short agreed to buy them at the advertised price and after realizing I’d been charged more than I should have I sought to rectify the issue, Home Depot wasn’t able to because they have a computer system that overrides their employees and managers choices.
Is something special about your hoods that people love to stand on? Asking for a friend.....
Everyone loves to use them to pose for pictures.

I work for a major credit card company disputes/chsrgebacks team for the card holder. There is a lot of people that just use disputes out of laziness. They dont want to take the 15 minutes to try to work it out with the merchant. Then there are also entitled people who just do not take responsibility for there actions. Lastly there are a few predatory companies that should be outlawed and disputes are warranted.
T.T for all the cars Rob had rotated in and out, the only one I still want is the NSX
Mr. Robson We STILL dont know what happened with the GERMANY, the BMW M3 and the ALLOYS story. Did you get the wheel, did they insist you pay for a whole new wheel or did they only charge for the scratch ? WHAT HAPPENED?
Sell the Mercedes to hoovie lol
Hahahaha let the Car Wizard figure out the gremlin in it.
MaddRamm exactly
Saw the video bob podast. Great convo and watched the whole thing
I once rented a 911 GTS from a very reputable global car rental company. I damaged the wheel when I rented it. They sent me an email (it was an after hours drop) saying hey you damaged the wheel it will be $1000 (I got it pretty bad, it was actually a little more than 1k but the liability limit was 1k in the policy I had). I wrote them back said absolutely my fault, no problem, go ahead and charge my card just please provide me a receipt of the completed work, so I can send it to my insurance and be reimbursed. I never was charged. A couple of months later I got a letter in the mail saying they followed up on my dispute (but i didn't dispute?) and it's not shown to be my fault (but I told them it was my fault?) and they are very sorry for the inconvenience. Self imposed chargeback I guess by them? lol
Watching video, keep getting distracted by the white meatball between the supra and the bentley. 😍
YOU ARE A CLASS ACT ROB.
They didnt offer you a hundred bucks,, they told you they dont wanna buy it...
We had a guy come in and get something like 4 thousand dollars worth of work done to his range rover. As he was walking out of the door infront over everyone he called his card company and told them to do a charge back and he didnt authorize the purchase but he had the keys to his car now and possession. The owner of my company actually just ate the 4k cause it was too much work to get lawyers involved and would of likely cost him more than the profit he would of made off it.
the sign is fixed... yayy lol
Does Gotham dream cars charge for excessive speed? Here I Canada I know a buddy that got charged $1000s for “pushing the car too hard”
That’s so dumb. That’s what always scares me of renting a super car. I had a Huracan rental by a friend, and he was sketched going over the speed limit because of the GPS being plugged in.
As lomg you pay for your ticket if you get caught by the cops Rob i general doesn't care
he made a video showing how one of his customers went 180 mph in his huracan. He said he doesnt care or charge extra because thats what you rent a car for. As long as there is no damage
I think he has a no track policy, but not no speeding.
@@MoriguTheDead i belive he charge extra for Track day.... Maybe

My father had to work a case of a guy disputing a strip club charge. Owner calls him the next day and tells him I've got the guy here and he says he doesn't dispute it anymore.
Said he swore it sounded like they had the guy out the window by his ankles.
Oooo mr rob, congrats on the sign!
Are you still going to Scotland with the whole COVID restriction thing. 🤔
$1200 for a scratch on the wheel? Sure. But, I"m walking out with that wheel.

I would love to see a walk around on the 1968? Galaxie? flip top. I started drooling when I saw it!

Nice Ford convertible with power blue interior.
I've had companies say, "We recorded a scratch there, so the dent isn't your fault," because obviously they already had to fix the area and nothing else was wrong. It was most likely a missed note and they weren't shitheads. Spend money where people give a damn about their customers and act like Rob.
My G63 is the only car I own that I've put more than 5k/yr miles on in the past 6 years. Absolutely love it, but probably for all the reasons Rob doesn't.
And who is going to pay to dry clean beer he spilled on his suit?
Tavarish has another project on his hands!!
Some companies will low ball it so low knowing you won’t take it because they simply put don’t want it but guarantee they buy all cars so they have to at least make an offer
I understand what you're saying. A friend wanted to lend me and my wife his 2017 white Corvette, second owner under 40 k. I live in the northwest after winter tons of 3/8 minus gravel. Quick trip to Seaside/Astoria OR could have paint chips for sure. Renting a car from u I feel there's going to be problems. I don't want to be under your thumb. I turned down his offer. Super nice but I'd have indigestion if I bought it back with any damage which is very likely.
Its also a federal crime to fraudulently do a charge back.
Which law?
If you rent a tool at Home Depot, and the motor blows up during normal use, your responsible for replacing the motor the whole cost. Even if its under warranty if you don't take their "insurance" program.

Psychopathy. Failing to comprehend personal responsibility.
Gullibility. Failure to realize when you're being told to pay for damage that you are not responsible for and that should have been covered by the mandatory insurance that you were forced to pay before renting the car.
You should get the hoods and roofs on all your cars sprayed with bed liner. That way when people inevitably stand on the cars, there wont be any damage!
Is Rob Dahm going to finish the 4 rotor before Mr Spaghetti finishes his Corvette 🤔
Go Eagles 🦅!
Today Mr. Spaghetti teaches us that you can never be careful enough with your meatballs and always take before and after pictures!
Once I rented a crappy regular car from an airport in Germany, I scratched the wheel and they charged me over 700 euros for that. That's like 850 USD for a scratch on a 25000 USD car.
$100 wow that’s crazy. I sold a 2006 viper with high mileage for $34K and carmax offered me $25K. Total rip off car was excellent.
Mr. Spaghetti is getting a dinner date!
I've never done a charge back. But there is one charge I would of if i paid on my credit card. As they didn't send the goods. No point with small claims court as they had no money. It ended up going to federal court and consumer watchdogs etc where they lost. But i got nothing of the 1700 i spent. Lesson learned pay by paypal or credit card where you can do charge back/refund on the rare occasions it's required. Otherwise you got the goods or service so pay up :)
Your bookie is so cool
Can you see the dent on the top left of the bonnet. As rob raises and lowers the bonnet you can see it
Do exotic car rental places offer insurance waiver policies like the airport car rental places do?
I know you’re against Turo but you could rent out your 1000$ Mercedes and see if you can break even on it
Maybe the customer knows that damage is capped at the value of the car, which according to Vroom is $100
I'm just going of the captions but people that rent super cars are the same as us that dont have them, were freakin broke spaghetti!lol these people probably had no business renting the car to begin with and paying the damage means their family will be eating ramen noodles for 3 months, in dirty clothes, outside, homeless.
What are the warnings coming up on the dash, and why does it say "SOS Tele Aid malfunction, drive to workshop"? or is that how they come from the factory?

Scammers on both sides.
As a car hauler who is constantly dealing with dealerships that want to pin every dent and scratch on me, how do I do I get the dealer not to screw me? I had a ford dealer charge me $1900 to fix a half dollar size dent on the hood or an expedition and a scratched bumper. The transport broker and dealer refused to let my body guy go in an quote damage too cause he told me 850 for repair, paint, blend, and buff just off pictures I sent him

If you get them to sign and print their name and say all disputes are through arbitration, your chargeback problem is solved. The merchant company you use will not even take the money out.

How 'bout some info on that great looking 67 Galaxy. Is is available for rent?
Mr spaghetti do you not offer full coverage when you rent? Like when I rent from enterprise for example I pay the extra $25 a day for full coverage on the car. If anything happens to the car itself I’m covered. Are people opting out of this or do you not offer it?
is there somewhere you have the car listings?
The only thing I wonder about is if the person that was on the hood and scratched it got caught and named in the police report could you then go after the person that was on the hood instead of the renter for the damage?
No,,because dumb assess who go jumping on the hood of random cars are losers who have no money. And lets face it, the cops are not going to do shit, except wait for some one to come in and confess,
