I cannot understate how much this man's music has influenced my life. I now live less than 6 minutes from the ocean just because I decided, when I retired, that I wanted to grow old like one of the beach bums in Jimmy Buffett's music. And I'm doing it.
Hello Parrotheads My favorite Jimmy Buffett song. Or Son of a Son of a Sailor, The Wino and I Know, The Last Mango in Paris and of course Fins or Volcano🇨🇦🇨🇦
Excellent analysis Biz. Jimmy was an incredible lyricist who songs are often introspective and deeper than they appear on the surface. Jimmy was the patron saint of good times and sunburned, flip flop wearing slackers who used to make up a large part of the Florida keys and beach scene. Sadly, that culture has been replaced by expensive condo's and commercialism. I recommend you listen to some of his live concert videos so you can partake of his charming stage presence and happy go lucky personality. A couple favorites are: "One Particular Harbor" "Son of a son of a Sailor" And of course "Margaritaville" His biggest hit. He will be missed 💔
So sad to hear of Jimmy Buffett's recent passing. He was a great singer-songwriter, musician & actor. His songs had such a laid back island feel to them. I had a couple of his albums. He had a lot of hits especially in the 70's-80's such as "Margaritaville", "Son Of Son Of A Sailor", "Come Monday", "Fins", “He Went To Paris”, “Cheeseburger In Paradise”, “One Particular Harbor”, “Changes In Latitudes, Changes In Attitudes”, “Volcano”, “Boat Drinks”, “Pencil Thin Mustache” etc.
Thank you Biz, you nailed it with your comments. This is another song of my youth, my buddies and I would drink and raise hell with this song as a backdrop. I have lost a few of those same buddies recently and this song has so much different meaning now that I have some mileage on these bones.
Jimmy Buffet's music is a national treasure. He sang the lyrics that hit home to so many. Byz you got it on the first listen! Go way back to the early stuff. One of the greatest albums ever by anyone 'Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes'
👍👍 Great choice. One of my favorite Buffet tunes. As much as you enjoy the lyrical aspects of a song, Jimmy Buffett is an artist you will enjoy. I'm gonna suggest Grapefruit Juicy Fruit for your next song.
I love your take on this song Biz... You got it. Jimmy's catalog is deep my friend. Trust your ol' Rocker on this one my Friend .... Check out He went to Paris,..... Pencil thin mustache..... Changes in attitude changes latitude, and one particular harbor. You wont be disappointed my Friend.
Try LA freeway from Jerry Jeff walker! Pirate is what hooked me as a Jimmy fan. The song that sealed the deal for me was "Tin Cup Chalice"...different ocean, different coast, different latitude...(I am from the NW Washington coast)But the feeling is exactly the same. Just less tanning.
Jimmy was first taken to Key West, Fl, by Jerry Jeff Walker in November 1971. Jerry Jeff was the man who wrote the song, Mr. Bojangles. The person playing harmonica is Greg "Fingers" Taylor. He was a member of the Coral Reefer Band (Jimmy's band) from 1974 to 2000. He is now retired do to Alzheimer's disease.
Jimmy Buffet has a catalog of beautiful songs. Probably take about a year to listen to them……:but well worth it. Keep up the great job you’re doing. By the way, Jimmy Buffet to me is the greatest poet that ever lived
The greatest verse in any song, “I’ve done a bit of smuggling, and I’ve run my share of grass, I made enough money to buy Miami but I pissed it away so fast”. That describes me in the 1980. 😳
Correction , it's Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefers , Banana Republic lives rent free in my head , also Why Don't We Get Drunk and Screw . Not a proposition
Influenced by Jimmy Buffet Van Morrison. Otis Redding, James Taylor, Creedence Clearwater Revival and more, The Beach Boys. Tommy James & the Shondells, The Lovin' Spoonful, Roy Orbison and more, Kenny Chesney, Jackson Browne, Zac Brown Band, Billy Joel, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, John Mellencamp, Fleetwood Mac and more. The reason Kenny Cheney bought an island home on the beach. You are now a Parrot Head or Parrothead

Jimmy is so underrated. I've been a fan for over 45 years. Miss him every day. My favorite of his many, many wonderful songs. Thanks for reviewing!
Rest In Peace Jimmy I got the opportunity to see you on many occasions across many states I’m proud to call myself a parrot head since 1986!

Mine to, although they are all great
This song tears me up now. Thanks for playing it. How about Lovely Cruise or One Particular Harbour?
"The Weather Is Here (I Wish You Were Beautiful)" explains it all...
Very astute analysis, Biz. I love this song , probably my favorite by him . Nostalgia is bittersweet sometimes cause you can never go back.

It's such a beautiful song 🎵
Another great Buffetf story song is. He Went To Paris.
Man, you gotta check out He Went to Paris! Bob Dylan once said it was his favorite song. ❤

Excellent reaction. You need to watch the live version from "You Had to Be There". Repeat viewer and now new Subscriber. Keep rocking + reaction.

It sounds prophetic. It's was his life. Wow. Good choice, RIP
My favorite Jimmy song I feel the same way it sucks getting old
I work at alpine valley. He was a regular every year. One of the best shows
Ironically..I was singing this song, walking to the grocery store today before the job.
One of the greatest man and yes he really did get in trouble for running grass

Jimmy had his own style
Oh for the good old days.
Cheeseburger in Paradise
Come Monday
Fins
Margaritaville
Changes in Latitudes
Jimmy will never really die because his stories are timeless.
This song led me to join the navy. I had heard Mother Ocean call.
Check out the story about who Jimmy based it on. You can find it on line.
I'm so glad you picked one of his not so popular songs 😊
It was very popular
Jimmy was so much more than Marguritaville, as good as that is too.
Try He Went To Paris.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yes I am a pirate
Greg "Fingers" Taylor on that harmonica

Try 'Juicy Fruit'. This man inspired me to sail, Fins up!
Pirates 🦜
Read Jimmy Buffett's Wiki: He lived a life that puts us all to shame. All he asked before he passed was to: Keep the party going.
The good news is if you sing about it the lifestyle can last a whole lot longer. Make your whole life like a tropical vacation.
❤

The real story will break your heart.
It is so impossible to pick just one but to me… Fruitcakes best displayed his intelligence, sense of humor and his unique understanding of humanity
Damn… Hits a little harder we’ve you’ve blown through a couple of fortunes.. lol.. 2nd one wasn’t my fault, though..
