The Price Point of $35 is very attractive and is probably its best selling point. I like the local storage availability so you can be non-cloud. The battery capacity is a bit low, would like to have seen 3-6 months charge capability so you dont have to keep charging it! I have an electronic doorbell already, but would have considered this one. Thanks for the review.
@@voltlog My doorbell is the eufy 2k HD. It has a battery life of 6 months, which I can confirm is accurate. It also has local storage so the cloud option can be avoided. Their app has had some issues with linking up with Amazon devices but the app is improving with time. It can also use existing doorbell wire to provide power to the device, but I just use the battery re-charge facility, not much bother at 6 month intervals.
@@AndrewBorrill1 The Annke doorbel also has local storage so cloud option is not needed but you do get extra features if you opt for it. But that 6 month battery life you are reporting sure is nice!
I think in general, budget priced IP cameras have trouble doing anything else while the camera is recording. I've seen this with all budget IP cameras that I have ever tested. With a battery powered doorbell the issue is more obvious because they also need to use less energy, hence less processing power available.
@voltlog you don't think it's the time needed to connect to WiFi again, send the notification to the cloud, the cloud send it to your phone, and your phone to wake up?
@@kuro68000 You are right, delay is probably caused on something like that when the camera is idle and in sleep mode. But it is also what I described when the camera is active and wifi connected but recording. I'm sure that an always ON model with permanent power, can do better on this.
Such a pity about the response times which I’m sure will put many people off! Myself included! If that could be improved I would certainly consider buying it at such a reasonable price!
Unfortunately quite a busy time in the office right now so I won't be making it to electronica. However you can be sure to see me at the next Embedded World.

Thanks! Out of curiosity which model are you currently running and what battery life are you getting out of it?

Slow notifications, the Achilles heel of all these smart doorbells. At least it supports 5GHz WiFi.

Thanks, feedback was sent to the manufacturer.
Will you be going to electronica 2024?

If it can't be used without the cloud, I'd rather build my own out of an ESP32 that doesn't need the cloud.
It sure can be used without the cloud as shown and explained in my review.
I must disagree with you, the low price does not make up for all the downsides about it...
That's certainly something that everyone needs to evaluate based on their needs.
Micro usb in end of 2024 year ? Piece of plastic crap.
