Just got mine in yesterday, hoping to get it under water in a few weeks. I have the 530 laser light as well, and really like it. I wanted a back up, and a little brighter. Several of the lakes I dive get pretty dim under the thermocline, and my eyes aren't as good as they used to be.

We love our D550. We use them in low visibility and several night dives. Awesome lights.

Hello Ron Rogers, a lot of divers here in our local area use them all the time as well.

Hello Ivory Johnson. Personally, I like the OrcaTorch brand, even though they are not really dive shop friendly. I think one of the reason divers like them so much is, they are reasonably priced and very durable. Unfortunately, they don't have much of a customer service side to them when one malfunctions, thus, most shops choose not to carry them for that reason. Also, shops are not allowed to be direct dealers for OrcaTorch, they must buy from a distributor, and a lot of times, the buy in cost for the shops is more expensive than what the consumer can purchase it on line. We do not carry them in store, and the lights you see here on our channel that we test for OrcaTorch are all sent to us for testing.

I have a pair of D580's and they are nice and bright on 18650 batteries. I plan on getting their canister light soon.

I bought a D710 yesterday to go night diving in roatan Honduras at the end of this month... been looking through reviews to see what people think.. one review said they wished it had a strobe or an SOS light in it.. I was wondering about the velcro on the hand strap for the light if it was really all that secure. Looks like it would be best to use the lanyard as well.. thanks for your point of view..

Hello Patrick Glosson, I hope the D710 has been a great light for you so far. I have never really been a big fan of the lanyards, however, I do secure the light with either a bungee or zip tie to the glove as well, to help prevent them from coming out of the gloves.
