  • Hey fam, in this video I take a deep dive on the OrcaTorch D710.
    Is this the best dive light you can buy for under $200? I guess we'll find out.
    Check out the link below to purchase a OrcaTorch D710. This is not an affiliate link, but orcatorch does check the stats and using it would be a big help! bit.ly/zfotd710

    I’m starting to really like OrcaTorch. They sent me a few (570, 710, and the video light) to test during my dives. I haven’t used the video lights yet but the the 710 is awesome for Lionfish hunting and the green laser on the 510 is fun to get the fish fired up.

    Thank you for standing for us colourblind people! 😎 Blue and red would be perfect

    I got one finally …..the only hold back was not too many dive shops had them. Now these lights are all over. It is less than a third the cost and it’s more than worth it!!!!! Would like to see a Goodman on it

    Thanks for bringing up the color blind issue, I am as well and that sucks when you have to deal with red green color.

    I have 3x D700 - I went for the 700 rather than the 710 because I wanted the simpler twist to turn on mechanism.
    The D700 (and 710, I presume) really are perfect and barely noticeable clipped off to the shoulder d-ring and secured from flopping with a snoopy loop.
    My other two are mounted on a home-made goodman handle.

      I'd definitely recommend them as primaries for recreational diving and I'd trust them as backup lights for tech.
      The quality is high, they're easy to get and the price is awesome.

    I really like the orcatorch quality for the price and clean design. I have a couple of d520 which nicely have triple o-ring. Not sure about this one but Im assuming only 2?. I would have liked to hear more about specifics like that. Also the 3000 lumin mode seems a bit impractical. Do you have to hold the button for it to be on? The manual mentions it is limited to 1min max in the 3000 lumin mode which I find disappointing. Heat should not be an issue because of the water. Maybe the battery cannot sustain the current? The main reason I did not choose one is that it does not seem to have a screw mount like the XTAR D26, which I have screw mounted onto a hard goodman handle.

      It has 3 o rings. Yeah the 3000 lumen mode is limited to a minute.
      I also would have liked to have seen a screw mount like the xtar has. I used one of those when I was cave diving in Budapest. Pretty nice little light.

    Got three Orca's and am happy with them. they have held up and I will be upgrading to the new D630v2 one day - one to test next, right?

      Yeah, I'm hoping to test that one next. Im interested in the pivoting bulkhead for sidemount/backmount.

      Definitely looks well price compared to the market.

    Isn't one of the color blind types a type that doesn't see blue light either? I think there's no red, no green, and no blue.
    Mine only came with a single battery not two, that's....disappointing for me now haha

    • @DiveVibe
      @DiveVibe  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Blue/yellow color blindness. It's rare and can effect the ability to differentiate between blue and green. It still seems that blue is the best option. There's actually a decent amount of info about this online. Most of it seems to agree that blue and red are best.

    Great review do you know how many candela it has?

    • @DiveVibe
      @DiveVibe  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I dont, unfortunately. Supposedly, candela is a relationship between the beam angle and intensity. I tried the calculation with 1700 lumens and 6 degree beam angle, but the number doesn't look right, lol. It's way brighter than my old lightmonkey can light and my sola tech 600. Very bright.
