screen edge scrolling is great and all, but having the mouse wheel zoom actually zoom to the current location of the cursor would be one million times more useful!
I would love a prison gang system. In my mind, I like the idea that the gangs would each have leaders (that may sometimes be violently replaced by a rival member with, possibly, a wildly different temperament and set of priorities) that may be negotiated with or threatened, 4X diplomacy style. Oz, basically. Threaten to crack skulls if the gang doesn't fall into line. Offer a permissiveness towards contraband in exchange for keeping violence down. etc.

First of all. Love this game. Got a ps4 the other day and have still spent way more time playing prison architect than I have on the ps4. Here are some idea's and some of the things I'd like to see with prison architect. Planning Mode: The ability to select, copy, paste and move plans in planning mode. I'd like to be able to plan several area's and then move them around to see what fits best, instead of having to re-plan the same area's several times every time I want to check a new layout. Pretty much the cloning tool but always unlocked in planning mode (no research needed to do it) Guard Room: Adding on to johnytest464's suggestion. A guard room where you can place guards in a central position to monitor an area that would be defined by the player using some sort of new deployment option (basically highlight an area and assign a guard room to monitor it). An alarm inside the room (room requirement) that is triggered by guards when a fight breaks out. Guards inside the room would respond to fights and provide backup to guards patrolling the area when the alarm is activated. The area would flash red (or something) when a fight breaks out to indicate the location of the fight. So if you had a riot the whole prison would flash red.. Hmmm maybe the entire prison flashing would be annoying... New type of room: Control room A room which contains the camera monitors but a new option provided where doors can be opened or closed by a guard in the control room. The doors require camera's near them so that the guard can see who is trying to get through to decide whether to open the door or not. So you don't have to assign a guard to patrol the area infront of the door or wait for a guard to come and open it. Maybe a different type of door that has camera's either side of it and requires power in order to use the remote opening option. Doors can still be operated like normal jail doors if they are with or without power or a guard assigned to monitor the cameras. Regime: A more precise way of setting the regime where you can assign tasks in 15 or 30 minute increments instead of just 1 hour. As it takes prisoners ages to move around I feel that time is wasted for example assigning 1 hour for shower time. I'd like to be able to change the regime around and experiment with how much time they need for each task (eg. Meal time) and refine it down to allow for more time to fit in other tasks. Cleaning: Similar to my idea about the guard room. 1: The ability to assign a janitor to a cleaning cupboard. 2: When you make a cleaning cupboard you can assign it to an area (defined by the player using some new deployment option) so that prisoners or janitors that are assigned to that cleaning cupboard will only clean within that defined area. Non-lethal Weapons: Some sort of research option where you can upgrade guards to carry either tazers, pepper spray or bean bag shotguns. Power Usage: The amount of power each object uses is indicated when you hover your mouse over it in the objects menu. The power output of the power station vs the power used is shown on the power station instead of (or as well as) the power bar. (using random figures as an example: a light uses 1 unit of power wheras a workshop saw uses 20 units of power. The power station provides 200 units of power on its own and each capacitor boosts this by 50 units) These total power available vs power used is shown and the figures can be used to better plan how many power stations and capacitors you require and what they will be assigned to supply power to.

The prisoners have babies too, and want too see them and be heart broken by it. Consider this for Alpha 16. 6. Don't give your staff any credit next time, if it weren't for you they would be starving in the gutter. They should have had twice the update done by the time you got back. I like the idea of mini gangs and would also like the trading of contraband idea but have prison money so you can gradually collect some from shakedowns and buy your way into knowing if and when a riot will take place, who has what, and who is planning an escape so you don't have to shakedown an entire prison to find the one and only person who had contraband
What about another room... When you have riots, you need to either have a handful of guards ready and waiting or call for FBI or whatever special forces they are. But it's quite unnormal seing a van with agents coming to the prison. Normaly, prisons have some kind of *armory*, with guns or some white weapons and shields. So maybe this would replace (useless)security room and allow normal guards to handle with riots. Of course, weapons = contraband and maybe to don't make it so easy some researching to unlock it? P.S. sorry for my bad grammar sometimes ;)
8:01 ... please please fix that scroll bug that you can't scroll down on prisoner page as also shown at that time frame. It jumps back up and thereby blocking the options for two of the prisoner categories, even more important now that they give different income.
I am currently building my own prison and it's insane because Chris delay showed up in my prison for some reason I didn't know the game designer of prison architect could allow that
So really just added tired functions and better performance and mod support. Someone needs to create a disaster mod that allows us to start a fire,riot, add drugs etc. I had a 350+ prison before the last performance changes I can only imagine what I can do now. I probably wait till next alpha not much changes to overall game play or new items.
Please take in the sectors. (A cell sector - B cell sector....) and you can set what sector go eat or shower or go yard. I hope you understood my English :D xD
i would love to have guards, going home after a shift and coming again next day. maybe with some changing-room on the entrance, where they put on their guards-uniform :P
My workers keep on getting stuck on jail doors, it's mad annoying because the doors won't shut and prisoners can just stroll in or out of them. Anyone else have this problem?
In the next update do you think you could make it where you can section groups of prisoners to different schedules so you don't have a massive fraud going all at once but instead half go or the low ormal risk prisoners eat while the high go in seperatly and I think I could fit in as a research before or after patrols
Guard towers are a MUST. Snipers with the options between neutralizing escapees with tranquilizers and the option to use actual bullets at the cost of an inmate would be awesome. And the prison walls need to be cheaper honestly.
And executions. Lets make the electric chair do something! I wasn't the option of turning my prison into a gulag. You've been found with cigarettes? To the chair!
Cameron Christie I'd like the chair to do something, but what about this: if you use it too harshly, the government won't send as many (if any) minimum or regular security prisoners. Because honestly, if you're executing everyone in the prison, no-one would send people there.
Since I got this game yesterday I had put close to 10 hours! So addictive, but ended up quitting after frustrations because could not delete foundation walls and an a issue with cell block failing due surrounded by walls and gates WTF! it's a freaking jail! I hope they fix it. Nevertheless highly recommended specially now on discount :)
i have a problem and i was hoping someone here could help me, so about a month ago i tried opening/playing PA and when it loads up any prison old or new the screen is gray all you can see are the moving shadows because they are a darker shade i tried uninstalling and deleting all the data but nothing happened any help please and thank you?
Go look in the forums for a solution, I had this problem WAY back in alpha 5 or 6 and I "THINK" I solved with a video card driver update, but I'm not sure. I am sure however that I found the solution to the problem on the Steam forums for the game so have a look in there and you'll soon be all fixed and playing happily.
Hmm, one thing that jumps to mind straight away... the payment you get for the security level of the prisoners, is that dependent on what they were when they arrived, or what you set them too? If the latter, could you not just order a load of min-sec, call them all max-sec, and earn an extra $100 a day, without needed to pay for extra guards, etc?
Why is there a bugged released prisoner in the middle of the screen for at least the first minute or so? That's no way to start a dev video after 2 months of - well, you know, baby stuff.
I really feel they should take it out of alpha and start polishing and make a campaign. I'm starting to get the sense that this game will be in alpha for ever.
Here's a quick idea, In a couple of Alphas time, contact the makers of the most popular mods about integrating their mods into the default game. Mayne "PAY" them with afree name in the game, or something.
Walrus Meyers Grants are almost necessary to run prison... Loans would be nice if you would be in trouble with prisoners rioting all the time, destroying the equipment and not letting you make money.
that's true. but if your prisoners start rioting too much, just give them a little more food or free time for a few days, and they usually settle down.
