Long shot, but It, in my honest opinion, would be incredibly interesting if, in the future you could end up only owning, say, 25% of the prison and having mandates set by a board of directors/investors and a more accurate record of who owns what amount of the prison. EG: Chris Delay, Texan Oil Magnate : 36% Mark Morris, NYC Based Choreographer: 24% NotDonalds, Food Research Corp. : 20% PA INC. : 30% With the amount PA Inc owns, making a difference to how much power you the player have, in exchange for money.
i REALLY love the game engine and the way npcs walk around and how much data they carry and i would love to see in the future stuff like restaurant Architect or something Architect that will use the same engine and idea to build something and have npcs using what you have build for them
Man, Prison Architect is frickin paradigm of a good Steam Early Access release. Bug free, content rich, and it runs on a block of cheese. Also, best update videos ever.
And now it runs buttery smooth on my shitty single-core linux netbook. Again, still in alpha. Nobody can blame a dev for not delivering a fully fledged game in an alpha state, but if they manage to do it, I think a little praise is due, especially seeing that tons of AAA releases either are bugfests like Arkham Origins or poorly optimized, it's quite the achievement, for a small indie developer in particular.
I'm a big fan of Introversion and bought the alpha at the first release, I have no problem with alphas being buggy that's part of having early access. I only buy into them if I want to support the devs anyway. I agree they have done a fantastic job at ironing out all the kinks and the game seems to be getting close to being feature complete.
I think this is a big flaw in the system. It really needs to be based on number of prisoners, type of prisoners (max security vs. min security), etc. I also think that $10K/day is a pretty huge amount, even for a very large and secure prison, and even considering that a day in game is more like a month. I have a feeling this is going to totally unbalance the game.
the "days without incident" bnus needs to be coupled to the number of inmates, doesn't it? els i'll fast forward on day 1 without any inmates and save some starting money...?
It would be cool having a person that controls the intake of prisoners, bunk beds for 2 prisoners and the chance to search everybody that comes into your prison automatically. Also visitors

Could you please fix the letter to the CEO, so that it is saved, that this has been looked at and will not appear again after every reboot? It's annoying in the long run.
Oh a bug with the export room. if its higher up the road than the deliveries area, the lorry loads up there then stops at the deliveries and drops everything back off. Your work men then move the stuff back up to exports and it all happens again...
I have problem with my dogs, they rest right outside of the Kennel Room because the dog trainers leave them there and walk into the room so my dogs just stay outside of the room being tired and never work again ...
Good update and video, never really paid attention to the pinboard so didn't notice that was what it is meant to be. I think the daily incident free bonus is far to high, I do like how you have increased the importance of factories now. When alpha 18 was released I thought how stupid it would be for a small prison to look at getting factories setup, now though it makes sense to do so because of the hourly cash flow you can gain from this. The sad thing is though, it encourages people to base their prisons more on workers as to improve income. Maybe a way to combat this would be to change the way it works, for example add a condition like a prison must have 30+ prisoners before you can build a factory and then every 20 to 30 prisoners you can build another factory. This way your expanding your prison rather than using most of your space on factories. The get out of jail free card condition for prisoners needs to be increased, 30 prisoners is a small prison, I would have thought 70 prisoners would have been far more important. Either that or change it so from 30 prisoners this feature can be used but the more inmates your prison can hold the more funding you will receive as a prison with 70 prison capacity would be far more important than a prison that has a capacity of 30. The sell shares feature needs to be sorted out as its already been abused, when selling shares the price that those shares can be repurchased are frozen or if not frozen will not drop in value but will increase. This would then fix this feature and make it more important. New cell type would be nice (shared cells) this allows for a minimum of 2 or maximum of 4 prisoners to share a room, however this cell type should only be available for low risk inmates while medium risk can only have 2 inmates at maximum share a cell and high risk can't share cells at all. Bunk beds would be nice to see for this call sharing feature. A gym is a must, yes we have the yard but many prisons have indoor gyms. This would open up a new aspect of running mixed risk inmates as an indoor gym could be for high risk while low and medium risk can share the yard. What I would like to see more than anything though is different regime times for each risk group, low risk prisoners have to be in their cells by midnight while medium risk must be in by 10pm and high risk by 9pm or however you wish to set it up. This would again add much more to the game and give us something else to take into account when accepting different other types of inmates.
When will we get a use for the execution room outside of the tutorial? It could be set as a type of punishment and give all prisoners a suppression effect, or it could be given to certain prisoners at the end of their sentence. Either way, good job on everything else! Keep it up!
Great alpha's guys!! Cant wait for the next one. I've played a total of 131 hours so far, built prisons with over 500 prisoners, gone 100 days without incidents and counting, everything keeps getting better and better. Keep up the good work! Only bit I'm missing so far is that my employees never have to sleep, eet, go home etc. Would be awsome to introduce a more realistic day to day simulation into the game. For example, you should be able to see who you are going to hire, Mechanics, plumbers, electricians, passive guards who have 0 experience, interns, etc. And also, all of them have to work in shifts, so no more 24/7. Prisoners get to have some sleep, why does the staff only have to take a break in the staffroom? let them go home to see there family. Prisoners are able to leave, why not the staff? What about retirement? Just some ideas to think about...
My like program for workshop and kitchen thing says start at 6 am and there like 2 or 7 interested in doing those but yet class seem to never start only the foundation one seems to work how i get those to start?
7:25 you coulda said something like Maccy Dee's for plausible deniability. also, the price you get for the shares could be determined by how well the prison's being perceived as being run, factoring the incidents and whatnot, plus a little bit of added random number generation for just a little bit extra of random, it'd be an extra thing to check, so whether your prison's being under or over valued could influence whether or not you decide to buy or sell your shares. you could let things slide, watch the price drop and swoop in and buy them all back.
tiny Bug list :Dog bug were they get stuck in doors still there from alpha 17. Dead bodies arent delivered to ambulance. Dogsniffing icon gets stuck and doesnt dissapear , all rooms booked for no reason
I dont get the education grant I built my classroom with everything in it and 3 prisoners are interested and when impress start on education test it says that all rooms are booked. Can anyone help me?

ah please fix that dead teacher bug.. ive got 3 dead teachers bodies and there is no normal way of removing their corpses from prison ( i mean the whole area )
eh the problem is that the dead teachers corpses slips off the car right after that corpse is put into truck by some guard and then a new job for some guard is to store that body which run off the truck into morgue.. but i will trust that you know what u are saying and will try this out.. ive got nothing to lose ,D

Now because of it one guard is never on duty because he is constantly picking up the dead teacher putting her on the truck, only to have her slide off, which then causes him to rinse and repeat indefinitely. So he's now a useless guard stuck in an infinite loop.

you don't have to change the amount of the other grants to the text "locked", you can just make them grey, this way you can maybe plan to abandon a "quest" that's not working out to get another one
There are problems with the grants in 19c. in the Inmate Nurtrition grant, I gave them poor food for 5 days and good for 5 trying to get that grant conditions met, and it was never triggered as met. Same for the education grant, and exhausted staff, the conditions couldn't be met. With the staff, it'd be good if they either a) went to staff room when tired (not exhausted) or you could make them go and rest, or set a rest period for them each day.
Matt Dean When I tried it it needed 1 day or poor food (I figured low quality/quantiy 1 meal a day) and Good food was 2 days High/High for 3 meals/day for 2 days. I did that for 5 days each and it couldn't be met. With exhausted staff, there is no way to make them rest, even if u get them to go to staff room, they will just go back to work.
I honestly think you guys should work on more punishment systems. After a large riot it would be nice to add the death penalty to murderer or something. More punishment would be an awesome new feature

and if i buy new ground all my guards freeze and i have to reassign ALL my guards and patrols. Sucks ass. I have to pay 13 armored guards that stand freezed everywhere :(
I wonder if the Exports room can be abused by clever prisoners. Hide in bins and such - or even in the garbage pile with the help of another prisoner or unsuspecting worker.
Idk why if it's a bug or not. But for some reason my prisoners or my deliveries the workers or guards won't do anything the truck will drive up stop and drive off. Any help?
I have a sugetion for the game. Something whqt really anoy's me is that you have to use guards for your securety and that they keep moveing away from the cctv screens so if i have fog of war turned on i qven cant see it. Why dont you put an extra recearch te the bureaucration for the chiefafter you unlocked cctv: The securityguard thats a special guard who ia only controls the cctvs That would really nice for alpha 20
I've started playing prison architect and all my prisoners seem to only want to sleep in the holding cell and not the normal cells. Am I doing something wrong?
Staff should have backgrounds like the prisoners do. So when your hiring you can choose from a range of different guards to hire and maybe get one who can run faster or is better at talking a prisoner down etc. A bit like the hire system in Theme hospital. Would be cool if they developed too as time went on gaining or loosing traits...
You would assume most of the inmates in this game world arent skilled workers, but low education, low skill members of society, hence why they end up in the slammer
I understand that they would need some basic induction but the problem is that the jail time for low sec combined with the low pass rate makes workshops mainly money sinks for small prisons.
TheMajorpickle01 The biggest complaint about workshops was that they made far too much money. I consider the training system to be an important part of balancing them. In my medium and max security prisons, as long as they are of a decent size, the workshops work fine. The only problems ive had is in very small prisons. I also dont really have a problem with it being difficult to use workshops in low sec prisons. If your looking for the modifications you suggest, i would just pick up one of the mods that increases prisoner jail sentence duration, as i dont agree with changing the entire game for it.
Arakash I agree. Plus small prisons should'nt really have a workshop, because their primary money source seem to be grants now. If you got all your grants and still have a small prison you either made a horrible mistake or you are acting on purpose.
I agree grants remove some validity of my point, but i still think workshops should have some use in a prison, rather than just gobble up money Jorvard I don't have any problems setting up prisons on basic grants, it's just the workshop only really becomes useful after a fair amount of time
I don't know if it's a bug, but every time I load up the game it starts a new prison and then I have to load up my prison from the menu, be good if it just loaded up your game on openings he executable file:P also when I do load my prison up all the water/electric is off then turns on straight away...pooped it first time it happened lol ps be good if you could have more interaction with individual prisoners by extending or shortening their sentence dependent on good or bad behaviour lol...good game though!:)
I run a 96 prisoner max security prison (in the process of doubling it to a 192 cap) and I can go 20+ days easy without the temp gauge going over 2 exclamation points. It's all about structuring your regime correctly (not guard heavy either, my prisoners outnumber my guards like 12-1 and I don't have an armory). Sounds like a steady 10k income to me (not that I need it, I have over 1mil in liquid assets on a 100ish day prison and nothing to spend it on). Still waiting on the electric chair update too.

I see that you already have this in mind, but, anyways, always remember that this is a game *first*, hence, must be *fun to play* in the first place (as it looks!), and only after that, a simulator, so don't worry if something doesn't seem too realistic here... *_After all, what realistic about birds being slingshot into pig building, right?_* =)
The taxes and the hole private prison thing makes this game far more dystopian than before.

There is one bug that is annoying.. it's when you do a shakedown and the guards keep getting caught behind the damn wall..

already are visitors and you can put mettle detectors right after the entrance game

set a metal detector and a dog patrol right on delivery area so they will get search no matter what

Open up your save file and locate the dead teacher and edit his damage level to 0

on poor food, was it only one meal a day? and on good food was it 3 meals per day?

I honestly think you guys should work on more punishment systems. After a large riot it would be nice to add the death penalty to murderer or something. More punishment would be an awesome new feature

Make sure the door frame is not market as part of the cell, the room should end before the door.

and if i buy new ground all my guards freeze and i have to reassign ALL my guards and patrols. Sucks ass. I have to pay 13 armored guards that stand freezed everywhere :(

I wonder if the Exports room can be abused by clever prisoners. Hide in bins and such - or even in the garbage pile with the help of another prisoner or unsuspecting worker.

Idk why if it's a bug or not. But for some reason my prisoners or my deliveries the workers or guards won't do anything the truck will drive up stop and drive off. Any help?

I have a sugetion for the game.
Something whqt really anoy's me is that you have to use guards for your securety and that they keep moveing away from the cctv screens so if i have fog of war turned on i qven cant see it.
Why dont you put an extra recearch te the bureaucration for the chiefafter you unlocked cctv:

I've started playing prison architect and all my prisoners seem to only want to sleep in the holding cell and not the normal cells. Am I doing something wrong?
Staff should have backgrounds like the prisoners do. So when your hiring you can choose from a range of different guards to hire and maybe get one who can run faster or is better at talking a prisoner down etc. A bit like the hire system in Theme hospital. Would be cool if they developed too as time went on gaining or loosing traits...

Please make the basic workshop use not require training, it makes early game low spec prisoners useless space-hogs
You would assume most of the inmates in this game world arent skilled workers, but low education, low skill members of society, hence why they end up in the slammer
I understand that they would need some basic induction but the problem is that the jail time for low sec combined with the low pass rate makes workshops mainly money sinks for small prisons.

The biggest complaint about workshops was that they made far too much money. I consider the training system to be an important part of balancing them.
In my medium and max security prisons, as long as they are of a decent size, the workshops work fine. The only problems ive had is in very small prisons.
I also dont really have a problem with it being difficult to use workshops in low sec prisons.
If your looking for the modifications you suggest, i would just pick up one of the mods that increases prisoner jail sentence duration, as i dont agree with changing the entire game for it.

I agree. Plus small prisons should'nt really have a workshop, because their primary money source seem to be grants now. If you got all your grants and still have a small prison you either made a horrible mistake or you are acting on purpose.
I agree grants remove some validity of my point, but i still think workshops should have some use in a prison, rather than just gobble up money
Jorvard I don't have any problems setting up prisons on basic grants, it's just the workshop only really becomes useful after a fair amount of time
I don't know if it's a bug, but every time I load up the game it starts a new prison and then I have to load up my prison from the menu, be good if it just loaded up your game on openings he executable file:P also when I do load my prison up all the water/electric is off then turns on straight away...pooped it first time it happened lol ps be good if you could have more interaction with individual prisoners by extending or shortening their sentence dependent on good or bad behaviour lol...good game though!:)
They say that it is hard to have ten days without incident, we'll I got it first prison on alpha 19.

I run a 96 prisoner max security prison (in the process of doubling it to a 192 cap) and I can go 20+ days easy without the temp gauge going over 2 exclamation points. It's all about structuring your regime correctly (not guard heavy either, my prisoners outnumber my guards like 12-1 and I don't have an armory). Sounds like a steady 10k income to me (not that I need it, I have over 1mil in liquid assets on a 100ish day prison and nothing to spend it on). Still waiting on the electric chair update too.
I always knew it was a cork pinboard but those red lines are kinda lazy and look nothing like pieces of string.
So, you did fix the _workshop/qualification is pointless effort_ problem, right? Right?
