1. That dress makes me think of a witchy Halloween costume in the best way possible. I am a sucker for dramatic shoulders and those poofy sleeves definitively give that dress a bit of flair. 2. I love the orange half hat you wear at the end of the video. 3. I am super excited for historical sewing vlogs. Your historical outfits are always so amazing, unique and different from anything I see in my day to day life. 4. That sunflower dress was really cool. I personally think the 1830's might just be the only decade in human history capable of rivaling the 1980's in terms of hideous fashion, but the fabric sunflowers on the dress won me over.
I think haul can be great as an educational tool. If you can focus on why you bought a piece and what you think it contributes in your overall wardrobe, I think it will make you feel less vain about filming a haul. I find that I like watching them because it's interesting to see what pulls people in terms of silhouette, fabric, and in your case is it the decade the clothing is from or inspired by that attracted you to purchase it
I agree, even adding inserts of the clothes that are already in your closet that you think will pair well with your new finds would really give the videos more visual interest.
They totally can be! Hauls are some of my favorite videos to watch, so it's odd I feel that way when editing my own. I think I just need to power through the editing process so I don't get to hung up on it.
You know what series would be cool ? Recreating the dresses and costumes from your figurines, and pose with them. I'll do that with my dolls, one day...
Its beautiful! Don't second guess yourself. You make beautiful things and you teach me so much. Much love. I'm with you. Autumn and winter are my sewing jam!
I really, really enjoyed watching your sketching process! It's nice to see how your ideas form and then how you execute them. I loved the format of this video in general. Also, the silhouette of that dress is beautiful! I think that, paired with historical accessories, the print and design make a lot of sense and are so much fun to look at. Wishing you the best on your future projects!
I LOVE the pattern. And though I think the sleeves are so amazing I know I would personally wear it more with no sleeves or something smaller. But it’s absolutely adorable and the fit looks amazing
Venturing into Vintage: I would love to see how your makeup and hair routine (and the time commitment of it) changes with your wardrobe. Is that part fun for you, or just feel necessary? I have considered trying Vintage apparel but I feel like it would take forever to get my naturally curly hair in line with the look.
Loved it with how you styled it - your beret and make up brought your look to ‘vintage with a twist’ and you look great... buuuut I feel that while you definitely wear this dress, the dress would wear a lot of other people. You go girl for making this look adorable!
I love the gathered centre front!! For me the sleeves are too big but that’s due to the way I view my body type. On you it’s perfect! I loved the video
I really wasn’t 100% sure how I felt until I saw it styled, but it’s a lovely dress... I’m not a fan of the poofy sleeve in general having lived through the 80s but with the vintage feel of the bodice and length it really works. Haul content is fine by me, happy to watch anything my fave content providers make. :)
Love the way you formulate your concepts then going on to drape-design as you work through the piece. The Fabric is stunning with the whole ensemble looking fantastic. Your commentary is just right along with a measured appreciation of what visually illustrates without overly labouring each phase of project development.
LOVE. Love the juxtaposition of the fabulous, modern Kaffe fabric and 30’s silhouette. It’s a head turner, in the best possible way, and you look drop dead gorgeous wearing it. 👍👍👍
For venturing into vintage, you should do a video on mending and repairs. Little holes and frays and such. Just the process you go through to maintain an in use vintage wardrobe.
Loved the dress, and you look lovely in it. I would love to see a series on lounge wear. For decades women wore wonderful loungewear, not pj’s. In the 1970’s my mother had a lovely 1 piece jumpsuit she wore on her days off. Friends came to coffee, she straitened the house, all done in this pretty, feminine and amazingly comfortable piece of loungewear. Thank you for sharing your clothing design journey.
seeing you make a gorgeous dress like this inspires me to finally stop tripping myself up and getting back to sewing like I used to love to do. your whole filming process here is super appreciated and in a way super therapeutic
The whole outfit came together with you in the hat and made up, I think the fabric is unique and the dress with the button detail at the front suits you down to the ground. The shoes are fab!! and any colour that is in the dress would work with it. It may be a vintage dress but it has an 80's vibe about it too. NOTHING wrong with that either. As always you are inspiring.
I adore that dress! It‘s very ‚in your face‘ fabric wise, but in a good way. It makes me smile, when I look at you 😁 And I like just listening to you talk about sewing and history and also (for the record) your occasional struggle with difficult or unsatisfactory projects. It’s so very relatable to every creative person, I think. I think, the most important thing is, that you focus on creating content, YOU are passionate about...because that passion totally shines through and makes it enjoyable to watch you.
The colors of this dress look AMAZING on you, and the dress itself is adorable. I think you have great talent. It must feel wonderful to be able to dream up a design, draw it on paper, self draft it and then make it come to life. I enjoyed watching you through this process.
For your venturing into vintage series, I'd love to see some lookbooks! It'd be fun to see how you pair outfits, what you use to pull them together, how you'd normally style hair, etc for different events; i.e. going out somewhere nice, leaving the house for a casual day, etc.
I am very much a sewing novice, I've made two sets of pillowcases and four potholders. I almost never understand what you're talking about when you get into sewing jargon, but I'm slowly learning. I like seeing how much work goes into your projects, and of course the amazing results! You are so talented and I'm glad you've found such a passion.
Fall is the best time for clothes. I don't know what it is, but autumn and winter are the times when I feel most creative, and my output of handmade things increases exponentially during that time.
So I’m commenting on an old video, but I’ve been absolutely devouring your channel this week and I wanted to comment on some of your concerns and reservations that you mentioned here. I watch your videos mostly for entertainment, often while crafting myself, so I really don’t mind when you’re rambly or show things you’ve already showed a thousand times! It lets me experience your process, which I enjoy even when it’s nothing “new”. I also love your “showing off” fashion videos for similar reasons, I like getting the vibe of your mindset as you do something I’m playing with starting. I also just like hearing you talk :) keep being you!!
I think this dress turned out so cute!! Love the fit and the sleeves! And the fabric is awesome! I would pair it with pumpkin accesories for the perfect fall/halloween look :)
Wow, it's SO flattering. It really creates a beautiful silhouette. I couldn't believe you chose that fabric at first, but it really grew on me and I think the final result is super fun. I think it's a great color pallet for your complexion as well.
I saw this dress on IG and zoomed over to youtube to watch your process! I've been watching/stalking the blog for years and am finally taking what I'm learning from you to actual sewing projects! As for clothing stuff, I'd love to see a Staples or All Time Favorites from your vintage stash as a video!
My mom made me any beautiful dresses. She had a terrible sewing machine. She was so skilled she made a beautiful heavy satin wedding dress , with self covered buttons down the back , and many on the sleeves. The dress was worn for three generations. My favorite dress was worn in 1962 on a date. It had ,cap sleeves. The bodice was at a slight angle. I requested hidden buttons, that was a little tricky. The skirt was very full. The material was a beautiful medium blue. Like a very fine cotton.,. It had a good drape. I wore it with white heels and a necklace of medium large graduated large beads. I enjoy your Verdi’s. The buttons were great. I wish the sleeves were not so full. It is fun to watch you modify and fit your patterns.
I absolutely love the fabric you decided to go with! The bright colors are so autumn without being bland, muted, or otherwise lacking in life. The leaves may be dying this fall season, but they pass in a fiery battle rather than solemn solitude or so I like to think. I completely agree that the fit of this piece is really really flattering. Considering you rapidly created dress on the fly, I think that is particularly amazing. It was also great to see how you planned ahead for potential adjustments when deciding on the type of seems and order of assembly. We have really different taste in clothes overall... I'm not a fan of puffy sleeves of fitted waists, but you managed to make me like them with this project.
I miss the weekly vlogs! Also, I adore this dress. I think the silhouette is amazing. It's really cool watching you sketch the design and then watch it come to life.
I was skeptical at first but as soon as I saw the final result changed my mind. This dress looks amazing on you!! The buttons really tie everything together. Good choice.
Great job as usual with this make, I am always impressed by your ambitious projects. I think that feeling of apprehension may be your brain trying to categorize this very original work. What you have there is something fresh that combines your sensibilities & instincts from many hours of work with vintage sewing. That it at first feels challenging in a not necessarily negative way is an indication that you are onto something that goes beyond craftsmanship. It's art.
I think it turned out beautifully! Especially when you pair it with that awesome hat, belt, shoes, and hair/makeup, it looks just picture perfect 👌 well done!
👍for the design. Great to see the design process as well, as in the end it shows which part you design upfront and how it evolves while you make the dress.
I LOVE THE STYLE!!! I would love to see that in Black, in Red, in a earthy green, in all types of prints. Such a lovely cut! please release as a pattern!!!
I really liked the dress. The bodice fits well and I like how the gathers and neckline turned out. The sleeves were a bold choice but cutting on the bias ended up allowing them to drape nicely. And the fabric is beautiful! Well done.
i'd love to achieve this level of skill! i cant even sew a straight line currently. how lovely to be able to make your own clothes and have a collection of truely unique pieces.
A fantastic video Angela. I really enjoy watching your mad pattern drafting skills, you make it look so easy. Personally, watching your creative process is very fascinating and is the main reason why I love your channel.
Stunningly amazing! Especially love the rust velvet hat and the purple shoes! You should wear it often as it is very flattering and looks fantastic on you!
I love seeing you drafting and adjust mock-ups, I'm not very good at pattern manipulation but it feels like I'm learning so much how to think just by watching you go through the process edit: and you make it look so easy so it doesn't seem so scary :)
I love these videos! Please do more! I enjoy when you give details about what patterns you use. The pictures of the end result with all angles of the clothing really helps me get an idea of how everything pieces together as well! :)
How lovely! I can see why you had some reservations --- I think that, while there were vibrant patterns and odd color combos in women's clothing from the teens to the forties, with modern tastes tending towards more minimal color schemes it can make it hard to really embrace something a little louder without worrying it might be 'too much'. I think it turned out smashing, though! And it looks so good on you. The buttons are so cute, they really add that extra something. For the record, I thoroughly enjoy vintage lifestyle fashion and haul videos. I think, for some of us, it's nice to see what sort of clothing is out there and get ideas and such. Plus, it's nice to know there are other vinties out there. :)
I love to see you that happy at the end of a project! Especially after hearing your doubts about it throughout the whole making process. I probably woudn't have the confidence to wear it outside that much but I kinda like it.
The dress looks fantastic, but, to me, it screams 80's. As I was in my twenties in the 80's, this dress brings back fond memories. I'm currently sewing some 70's costumes, so I might "pinch" this pattern when I start my 80's costumes.
The color of that fabric looks great with your skin, and the shape is great. I think it is an amazing dress and you should definitely wear it this fall!
I really like it too. Those colors ate flattering on you. The.... forgot the word, shape of the dress look so good and puff sleeves haaa gorgeous. Those shoes!!!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍
I, too, feel conflicted about the sleeves. But you are so adorable that I think you pull it off well. I love that you're transitioning more vintage styles into your everyday wardrobe. It suits you SO well. I've been doing the same with higher-waisted pleated pants and some more 40's inspired menswear, though it is TOUGH to find modern places to carry this style and, unfortunately, TH-cam doesn't have too many men's tutorials on vintage sewing like your channel. I still really enjoy your videos and love seeing you educate us all on your process, good and bad. :)
I’m making a quilt with that fabric and the rest of the colorway! Gorgeous fabric and high quality. Bought a layer cake and jelly roll of the fabric on line
This is my favorite video format of you. I found it very entertaining and I usually am sewing alongside you. :D The dress ended up marvelous! I think the color suits you beautifully.
you're all about the warm toned colours atm! I love it! I don't think I'd ever have the confidence to wear something this orange, so this is really quite inspiring ❤
Yay! I get so excited when I see you've posted a new video! Like stop everything and watch! So thank you for sharing this beautiful dress 🥰 the colors and style are amazing
I HAD MY DOUBTS looking at the fabric in the beginning, but I honestly think it turned out to be super lovely! The purple details really drew me in :) :)
For me, the buttons really pulled it all together by highlighting the gathered bodice, before adding them, I didn't notice the gathers. Beautiful!
I love your work this dress is absolutely beautiful love the buttons I like the detail
Can you do a video and make a vintage nightgown?
I think haul can be great as an educational tool. If you can focus on why you bought a piece and what you think it contributes in your overall wardrobe, I think it will make you feel less vain about filming a haul. I want that dress, its so vivid and very unlike what you can buy in stores, I simply love it.
The dress is beautiful! It immediately caught my eye in the thumbnail and I wasn't disappointed at all. Keep up the good work, Angela!
LOVE seeing you sketch! Such a nice bonus clip!
I also enjoyed seeing her drape and draft her patterns!
Its beautiful! Don't second guess yourself. You make beautiful things and you teach me so much. Much love.
I'm with you. Autumn and winter are my sewing jam!
Your hair and accessories made the dress, great job.
I really, really enjoyed watching your sketching process! It's nice to see how your ideas form and then how you execute them. I loved the format of this video in general. Nice dress! Love the sleeves and buttons.it looks great on you.
I LOVE the pattern. And though I think the sleeves are so amazing I know I would personally wear it more with no sleeves or something smaller. But it’s absolutely adorable and the fit looks amazing
I thought I was brave with prints until I started watching you. 10/10.
The buttons brought it all together and gave it that 30s look. The accessories really brought it all together. Absolutely love it's fall colors.
I could listen to you talk while making buttons all day. So satisfying to watch the fabric tuck in perfectly.
Loved it with how you styled it - your beret and make up brought your look to ‘vintage with a twist’ and you look great... buuuut I feel that while you definitely wear this dress, the dress would wear a lot of other people. You go girl for making this look adorable!

Although I am a 50's woman this is a beautiful dress and look really lovely on you. Well done Angela.
Gorgeous dress, it also looked beautiful when it was on the form without the sleeves, that fabric looks very summery 50s style as a halter neck. 😍
LOVE. Love the juxtaposition of the fabulous, modern Kaffe fabric and 30’s silhouette. It’s a head turner, in the best possible way, and you look drop dead gorgeous wearing it. 👍👍👍

The dress fits you beautifully. I wasn't sure either until the dress was finished and you were wearing it, but I really like it. Fab shoes as well.
I was really worried about the sleeves at first, but I loved it once the buttons went on. This is one of my new favorite channels.
Love the sleeves and the color of the dress.

... Well. I would never wear this, but I love the boldness of its design, and the fact that you like it. Excellent job, as usual!
Absolutely gorgeous. I LOVE Kaffe Fassett fabrics as I am a quilter and dress maker who never shies away from colour and patterns xxx
I was skeptical at first but as soon as I saw the final result changed my mind. This dress looks amazing on you!! The buttons really tie everything together. Good choice.
Stunning. Not many people could wear it but you can.
I really like it. The fit is excellent. The style actually reminds me of early 40's .
Lovely dress. Orange can be a tricky color, but you managed it well! The purple cools it down nicely.
I’m actually very fond of this project! It looks so cute!!!
Great job as usual with this make, I am always impressed by your ambitious projects. I think that feeling of apprehension may be your brain trying to categorize this very original work. I love the dress. I wish I had a dress like this one. The color Orange and season fall are my too favorites.
I LOVE THE STYLE!!! I would love to see that in Black, in Red, in a earthy green, in all types of prints. Such a lovely cut! please release as a pattern!!!
I am in utterly in love with the colors and print of this fabric!
It is gorgeous and you did an amazing job! You need to wear the heck outta this dress this fall!!!!! Love love love it!
I LOVE this dress it screams like. Magical realism movie taking place in autumn
Oh- for venturing into vintage, I’d love to see a lookbook Of ways you pair items together to get a proper outfit
It is an unusual silhouette with those sleeves but on you it works, and you've styled it beautifully.
A fantastic video Angela. I really enjoy watching your mad pattern drafting skills, you make it look so easy. Personally, watching your creative process is very fascinating and is the main reason why I love your channel.
At first I wasn't sure of the fabric, but YOU make it work. Love the colors on you!!
I love how bright and colorful this is and yet classic with the vintage style I also LOVE the hat you paired with it!
I love the dress!!!! The buttons totally pulled it together!
Stunningly amazing! Especially love the rust velvet hat and the purple shoes! You should wear it often as it is very flattering and looks fantastic on you!
I love seeing you drafting and adjust mock-ups, I'm not very good at pattern manipulation but it feels like I'm learning so much how to think just by watching you go through the process
edit: and you make it look so easy so it doesn't seem so scary :)
Gorgeous print and colour. The dress is lovely and kinda reminds me of vintage Laura Ashley, especially the sleeves.
I love to see you that happy at the end of a project! Especially after hearing your doubts about it throughout the whole making process. I probably woudn't have the confidence to wear it outside that much but I kinda like it.
Most enjoyable, turned out a treat. You styled it beautifully and it fits really well. Wear it with pride.
I think this dress is beautiful! Wear it frequently & enjoy how nice you look in it.
this dress looks so chic! the sleeves remind me a lot of a 80s dress cut. Joan crawford would have rocked this dress!
I love the finished product! The buttons, the sleeves, the colors. Amazing! I enjoyed watching the haul video too. You are inspiring me. Thank you!
It's beautiful Angela simply gorgeous! loved the covered buttons and those shoes just set it off to a tee...…..SUPERB!! :) as always.
That dress is really something! I don't think I could wear it, but I'm glad you ended up happy with it in the end!
The dress looks fantastic, but, to me, it screams 80's. As I was in my twenties in the 80's, this dress brings back fond memories. I'm currently sewing some 70's costumes, so I might "pinch" this pattern when I start my 80's costumes.
It did to me before it was finished but now it seems to of transformed it's self in to something entirely different
The color of that fabric looks great with your skin, and the shape is great. I think it is an amazing dress and you should definitely wear it this fall!
I'm really bad at drawing feet - so I just drew giant bows, because that's how anatomy works. LOL! I *ADORE* your candor and humor!

I’m making a quilt with that fabric and the rest of the colorway! Gorgeous fabric and high quality. Bought a layer cake and jelly roll of the fabric on line
It's always a pleasure to see your creations and this dress is absolutely STUNNING!!!
It is beautiful! I have made about 10 quilts with Kaffe Fassett fabrics, but never a garment, so thanks for the inspiration. You are really talented!
This is my favorite video format of you. I found it very entertaining and I usually am sewing alongside you. :D
The dress ended up marvelous! I think the color suits you beautifully.
This dress is so beautiful, just like all the other you make !!! You should be very proud of yourself!!! Keep up the good work!

I love it on you! Your hair, make up, and shoes make the outfit look great.
you're all about the warm toned colours atm! I love it! I don't think I'd ever have the confidence to wear something this orange, so this is really quite inspiring ❤
