- We first told you about Diesel when he went missing in 2019 and volunteers searched for weeks but never found him. Now, a new video has surfaced with a clue as to where he's been all this time.
That is so awesome how the elk accepted him as part of the herd.
I think it was the other way around...
Either way. It worked out great.
The elk feel happy that they have a body guard:) How beautiful that they adopted him.
Diesel knows what's going on in this crazy world he's home free ❤❤❤❤❤❤ bless those animals!!!
He looks like he’s the leader of the herd, they clearly feel safest with him. They way they all crowd around him ❤
he's the same thing as a sheep dog but better. that's why it's amazing he's herding and protecting the herd on his own with no master! freedom!
I love that donkey! ❤
Me too. I want a donkey. I've always wanted one❤
Do you love that he suffers through winters? Has no vet care? Do you think nature is a picnic? His owners are neglecting him
@@Pro-Deo me too
Awww, I wasn't expecting that ending. He saw his chance at freedom and never looked back. 😊
Beautiful story!!!❤❤
This is an awesome story. If he was part of my family, and many animals are, I would have to at least go and call his name to see if he came to me or if he ran away.
It's hard to get close to a herd of elks. They are very alert, big ears for hearing and great sense of smell.
Donkeys are more than capable to take care of themselves. I'm positive the elk are glad he is with them.
These videos always brighten the day. Keep spreading positivity!
He decided he wanted to be free❤
I love donkeys and all creatures. I'm happy for your family. Diesel your pet donkey is the home. Please keep him safe.🎉
I've seen videos of domestic cows who leave their pastures and join herds of deer. They also seem to be accepted, and thrive in their new lifestyle.
Great story!!
Beautiful touching story❤️🥲
Best story ever!
How wonderful!
Incredible animals
I know near auburn is n ca.what a cute donkey diesel, found his herd.they guy who was hiking found him
Humans could learn alot here!❤️
He also learned the "elk-walk" wow!!
Keep on Rocking!
Donkey survives in its natural habitat grazing on wild pasture and drinking fresh water from streams...you couldn't invent such a wild tale.
The Donkey went after that Lion, probably tracked him to the Elk herd.
❤yay
Diesel said keep his business off of the news and social media.
One of the elk is tagged with a neck monitor so it may be possible to kind of keep track of Diesel if he stays with this herd🙂
He's probably a Guard Donkey and they will mix with herds to protect them. They should at least give Diesel the choice to come home though so he isn't attacked by a pack of wolves or any other pack. I'd also put a tracker on the new donkey. I love Diesel's name!
There are no gray wolves, let alone "packs" of them in the Sierra Nevada foothills of NorCal. The few, verifiable packs are alll located near Mt. Shasta, Lassen, Yoseemite and other, far northern locations in the state.
@@laurie1536 Yikes you might want to Google that because they started migrating into CA in 2011 from Oregon.
@@Good-DaySunshine I'm aware of that, however, not in thie Sierra foothills where I live. The Shasta pack and a few others are only in the far north of the state near the Oregon border. No verifialbe "packs" of Wolves in the Western Sierras and foothills. I'll edit my reply to say " there are no gray wolves in the Sierra foothills."
@@laurie1536 Where is Sequoia? I lived in CA when Dad was in the AF but don't remember where that is. In 2023 a pack was spotted there. I'm glad you are wolf-free!
@@Good-DaySunshine Sequoia Natl. park is in the southern Sierras, closest city is Visalia Ca.
Donkeys are used as livestock guardians for a reason…
He is now called "Elk-burro".
Don’t forget that guy that found him was a hunter 😮
And your point is?
❤
He went off the grid & went native
Good idea. Let him be....
Finally some real news out of the lame stream media! ❤
❤❤
Coming this summer a blockbuster movie about the incredible true story of Diesel the Donkey. Separated from his human family as a young colt, Diesel is accepted by a herd of wild elk as one of their own. Diesel grows up elk, and through challenge and sacrifice he becomes the new leader of his elk family. But the day comes when a hunter spots Diesel and recognizes that Diesel is in fact a donkey and not an elk. Crushed by this realization, Diesel must choose to go back to the human family who loves him or remain with the elk herd that needs him.
The elk and other herd animals will gladly accept a donkey into their herd.. they eat the same things and they are very protective. You see ranchers who release donkeys with their cattle for the protection.
I wonder if at some point over the years he's been with the Elk heard that he's had to go after Coyotes or Mountain Lions and Donkeys are known for being able to go after them and send them packing. If something like that happened you can bet that's is why the heard looks up to him. Just a wonderful story.
💓💓💓💓💓💕💕💕
unheard of
That is amazing but they need to capture him and get him somewhere safe. It would be horrible if he was killed by wild animals. I can't believe he has survived and being with these we elk is just incredible. Such a amazing story.
Live free or die! Freedom is worth the risk.
Dude, he killed a cougar. He’ll be fine. I don’t even know how a donkey could manage that.
@@lainey7985I agree! It seems to me that they view him as a leader. When Diesel starts to move, the elk move with him.
those who would sacrifice liberty for security shall have neither. many animals, though not most, prefer freedom. thats why democracies suck. cuz the majority always caves to 'fears'. u work in insurance, right? u know the west is full of wild donkeys...

What if he has babies with them? They would be so cute.
Man made news
I don't think so.
Donkey made news.
Apparently Diesel’s been killing mountain lions that are going after the herd
Aaawwwhhh...🇿🇦🫶🏻🫏
They should have just let him be free.😢💔
Did you even watch the video? They did leave him free
R u serious lol
Uh... the Elk right behind Diesel has a tracking collar on....
That's a Diesel for ya, if they had named him EV he would only have ran about 600 miles before quitting! 😂
But he can recharge in the sun for 40 years but where he getting gas out there in the fields?
@@warrenpeas That makes zero sense!
@@susanveach9013 u said he is not solar powered he is diesel and diesel goes further. I pointed out you are wrong a solar powered donkey would last much longer than a diesel one where he is located in the fields. He's not running around in a herd in the city my guy. 😂 Solar powered cars are EV.
@@warrenpeas Enough with EV and solar. This is serious story, don't take it lightly please.😁
@@warrenpeas didnt u hear? herd animals r fulla gas
😂🎉❤
Probably Abused. Abusers are masterful as seeming innocent and nonethwise why their victim ran away.
We finally solved the "Chupacabra" mystery- Donkeys have been knocking up elks, n we're getting 'Horned Burros'!
🇫🇮😟
Donkey elk hybrid
Super not gay
Dats da n D
Leave the animal alone he once to be 🆓 smh u ppl luv caging animals 🤦
He's "Free, Free at Last!"
They didn't cage him.
Ooh fun fact! A donkey is the mascot for the Democrat party. 🤭
You're bringing politics into this? Coming from someone who's not a Democrat, GROW UP!
Why are there so many bots TH-cam? Get rid of the comments CBS. I could live without the comments section youtube. Make it so you have to open a separate window to comment, I'd be ok with that.
If you're ok without the comment section, then why are you commenting?

I'd just like to add to your statement, FJB. :) Have a tremendous day!
@@Runner8617
It's the Snowflake way. Just can't help themselves.
😂
Do the lady elk let him mount them? Or does he even want to? And if he does, are the male elk like whatever bro?
donkeys mate w/ horses, thats where mules come from. but i bet he was gelded by the hobby farmers he ran away from
If they love Diesel, why not take advantage of that radio collared elk I noticed in the heard? Have a Hunter tranquilize the donkey bring in the owners and take him home-not easy, but it’s a fantasy idea that Diesel is happy living free with friends! He’s not an elk! Living thru harsh winters, being exposed to diseases ,not having any veterinary care- all these things = passive animal abuse! This is not a simple happy ending- if your dog ran away a joined a Wolfpack would you throw up your hands and shrug? His owners are neglecting him!
u r whipped, i mean totally conquered. bet uv had all ur boosters & eat plantbased. iv had dogs for 40 years w/o any 'veterinary care' . grow a pair
Is that Auburn Alabama?
I don't believe there are any elk in Alabama.
California you little genius
@@MontanaRealtyCompany934 There are many Auburns across the country. The news reader didn't specify, you little scamp.
