Hey guys. I’ve been informed that the rangefinder bow sight is working. I couldn’t figure out how. It’s definitely not the way it used to be. But apparently it’s working so give it a try!
I've been using that sight on the Stenberg, and it's been fine. I wasn't aware that there was a problem with it.
It's ok because your a big part of our life and the best hunter good luck with getting more diamonds and great ones.

@@vlexifyxyou can typically run within 200-150 Meters of an animal before it spooks crouch until 100M and crawl up to the animal until your comfortable taking the shot scent spray helps, Silent Feet skill is a need 😅
Hi Lady the range finder bow sight works you have to press the reload button while the red dot is on target. I was hitting turkeys at 71 yards with the hawk edge thank you have a good day

Great video! The rangefinder on my Koter cb-65 worked great yesterday when I got to within 31 yards of a GO. He stood up from a feeding zone and turned on alert straight towards me and went aggressive. The shot justed missed his heart and he charged (Speckled Spider rack) took a second shot at 11 yards and he collapsed at my feet!

i prefer recycle and pumping iron since it offers a higher draw weight and flatter trajectory which makes longer range shots much more effective ( recovering a few arrows/bolts is a nice bonus) and because i have a higher effective range i can get away with not firing prone.
the rangefinder sight does work but they changed the key/button to activate it but did not change the tooltip by the looks of it.
This video came at the perfect time! I was testing out the crossbow on Australia last night, taking down crocodiles in the mangrove trees. I don't really understand how the multiple pins work on the scope, just kind of hoping for the best lol. I came looking for tutorial videos on how to get better with bow hunting and this video was just uploaded!
With the 5 pin sight, I believe each dot is 20 meters but you should test it.

The top pin on the scope will always be what you are zeroed for.
Some things to consider about the other pins, most of this stuff is outside of what would be considered beginner stuff:
Zoom level matters. Every zoom will shoot at a different spot. Easy way to test this is to aim with the lowest pin at something with the lowest zoom and keep it at that spot while moving the zoom up. You will notice that your pin will not still be pointed at same spot when you zoom. This is actually how scopes work in real life as well, unless it is a ffp scope.
Arrow weight matters. If you can shoot the lightest arrow on the second pin for 70m then the heaviest may only go 50m (don't know the exact numbers, just an example).
Wind matters. Not just left and right wind directions change how the arrow hits, but also forward and backwards. If the wind is in your face you must aim higher, if it's at your back aim lower. The father the shot the more wind matters.
The wind gauge is a lie. When it comes to shooting a bow the icon showing the wind is not how wind will effects arrows. The best way to tell wind direction is to watch the little air particles when your using the scope or binoculars. Snow and rain will also fall in the direction of the wind.
Or you can use the wind skill in rifles perks (no clue why this skill is in the rifle's tree), most people believe this skill is worthless but it is the true wind direction when it comes to shooting.
The best way to learn pin distance is to find an outpost with a flag pole you can view from a distance and shoot at the rope that is close to the bottom of it. Walk away from it til your in your zeroing distance. Then walk back 15 meters and shoot at it with max zoom using the second pin.
Note where it is on the pole. If it shoots under the rope you must move up and walk back if it shoots over the rope. If you hit the rope, use your binocs to see the distance. Write that down along with the weight of arrow and zeroing distance. Do the same for every zeroing distance (or at least the zero you use most), arrow weight, and pin. Also realize wind might be effecting your shots, try to do this when there is low amount of wind.
You may need many arrows to do this, the perk that lets you pick up arrows will help with that. If you do this you will be able to shoot the crossbow much farther then what zeroing alone will let you.
I honestly use a modded scope I made myself for crossbow, I really dislike the ingame one. Mine has 4 pins (my lowest pin is still as low as the game's lowest pin) and much thinner lines, but I use the same principals of figuring it out that I wrote here.

I like to get a feel for the weapon at the range, but I like to go practice on live targets. It's also more practice on hitting vitals on a quartered angle bear or a rear facing elk

My favourite maps change depending on my mood. I'm currently bouncing between the Delta and Revontuli with my permanent load out now being the Stenberg and the Cacciatore 12 gauge. And bows do indeed rule. I am absolutely loving the new Stenberg recurve.

I just want to know how do I make sure I am correctly zeroed in on xbox because I still can't seem to down an animal 😢
You zero to 150 meters and make sure you are exactly 150 meters away from the animal and you are perfectly zeroed. Also you can do that from 300 m but 150 is safer!

Bow hunting is great! Can’t get better penetration. I’m still learning how the wind effects my arrow’s flight. Some shots are way off.

It is not an option when you go into the tent and go to your character. Mine falls off of me all the time - meaning that I am wearing it and all of a sudden, I realize that I'm NOT wearing it and I never took it off lol

The rangefinder has a different button now. On xbox you tap y when zoomed in. Its the same button when reloading. It used to be x, but i guess they changed it

One thing I would make note off is that pumping iron perk will mess up the digital sight. At least it does for me. Before getting the perk the sight works correctly for me, after getting it I have to aim slightly low. The sight doesn't seem to take into account that your arrow shoots flatter when you have the perk. The zeroing perk might fix this, IDK I don't use it. If someone does know please tell me. But I really don't think Pumping iron is needed at all, arrows are already quite deadly.
When shooting from a blind with a bow it seems like you can shoot forever without losing zones due to pressure. Or at least an extreme amount before losing them.
I don't know if this is new or not, I have just recently started playing again, but the crossbow will spook animals after shooting much easier then the regular bows. With the regular bows you can down an animal and they they will go attentive without running, you can take almost an entire group if you wait for them to calm between shots. But with a crossbow they will run right after you shoot even at 100m+ with one hit kills. Strangely enough the .45 cyclone has the same effect as a regular bow, shooting it will not make them run.
One last thing. If your like me and don't use zeroing you must take in the fact that each arrow size has different trajectories. The larger the arrow the higher you must aim to reach the same distance.

i think the rangefinder bow sight accounts for the bow peak draw weight and the arrow type but doesn't account for the 2 points into "pumping iron" the increased arrow velocity and penetration perk, anyone else find this to be an issue?
I feel like it will be really fun to hunt with a spear. I am a little biased though because I saw one dude hunt with a spear and he just dropped it on a deer and it died.

I wish they overhauled the perk system to relate to your weapons score instead of levels. Makes more sense that way. The more you use a weapon the better you are at it.

One important additional thing to mention is that there is a very unfortunate situation with traditional bows: the 350 grain arrows suuuuck against tier 3 animals. So, if you see, for example, a big roe deer please hunt it with _anything_ other than a Houyi recurve or longbow, because the 540 grain arrows make you fail the harvest check and you need to get lucky to even hit vitals with the 350 grain, and even if you do it's like pulling teeth: painful for everybody involved. That roe deer will run a long, long way before it bleeds out.
Hi Lady. Bit of a random question, but is it possible to hunt animals with a class higher than the ammo type that you are using (like using the 10mm pistol to hunt moose)? Does it mean that your reward is lessened if you do, or is the animal literally unkillable if the weapon/ammo class is wrong. Also, if you use a class weapon/ammo that is too high how does that work. ....possible future guide video needed?! Any response much appreciated
It just means that you'll be deducted a metal ranking so if you got a diamond, it would be a gold. and it would take longer to find the kill depending on what you're shooting and what weapon you are using

Is one of the sights for the compound bow still bugged? I haven’t been playing for a long time, so I’m assuming it’s patched by now.
Apparently it does work, it just doesn't say what the new settings are. They've changed so I'm not sure how to work the brightside sight

Yes. My game literally said " I no longer own the tent THAT I OWN & PAID FOR with a DLC", I then literally cannot call anything in... anywhere, woods or lakes, NOTHING BUT DUCKS & Ducks may be the worst audio in this horrible audio mixed game. I do not understand why the animals dont have a coded distance audio box? It sounds like ANYTHING is RIGHT NEXT TO YOU when its anywehere from 100 to 200 yds out... ?!? They reall need to fix this games Audio & also ... WHY DO ALL SMALL BIRDS DISSAPEAR? Doves, Hawks, Crows, Eagles... all.... dissapear when I shoot them. I honestly am ready to quit this game and go and play #TheWayOfTheHunter or better, wait for a proper PS5 RELEASE for a modern hunting game. They need a mix between RDR2 system & the survival and camping etc. and POPULATING AREAS WHERE ANIMALS IN A HUNTING GAME SHOULD BE that doesnt cost 48,000.00$ for a BACKPACK ?! YEAH?!? The economy in this game is INSANE.
