5:36 I haven't seen anyone actually do the binomial calculations for this so here goes: To calculate the exact odds of this event, we need the following 3 variables: p, the probability of success (the odds for a zombie to drop an iron ingot) This probability is 5÷600 or around 0.8% → p = 5÷600 n, the number of trials (the number of zombies that he killed) He killed 261 zombies → n = 261 x, the number of successes (the amount of iron he got from the 261 kills) He got 7 iron → x = 7 We are evaluating luck based on *how many* iron got dropped, not the fact he got *exactly 7* iron. Therefore it's a good idea to calculate the cumulative probability P(X≥7) rather than the exact probability P(X=7). In other words, we calculate the probability to get 7 iron *or more*. Plugging p,n & x into the binomial distribution formula, and summing to get P(X≥7), gives the final expression: P(X≥7) = (1-P(X≤6)) = 1 - (∑(261!÷(k!*(261-k)!) * (5÷600)ᵏ * (1-(5÷600))²⁶¹⁻ᵏ)) , (0 ≤ k < x) This comes out to around 0.00677 or 0.677% *Answer* : The odds of getting 7 iron ingots (or more) from 261 zombie kills is approximately 0.677% or about 1 in 148. Not dream luck but lucky nonetheless.

fun fact: if the biome is set to Taiga, you need no starting resources because of foxes spawning with emeralds in their mouths letting you get a tree from the wandering trader
Actually even on any world you can survive without anything since scouting pillagers have a small chance to drop emeralds, therefore allowing the wandering trader giving you a sapling.

If there were different biomes you could get a fox to spawn and then get emeralds from them to buy a sapling from the trader which you could get apples from, but I’m pretty sure superflat is all plains so…
@@Andrew-pq3lj I wouldn't do it, I like foxes(as long as they don't attack my chickens but if there's a lot of them I just place a few polar bears in the fences)
The uniqueness of the challenge, in addition to the technical mindset, makes this a highly enjoyable 100 days challenge style video- most of them have arbitrary and uninteresting twists, but this one has a logical yet unique twist that makes for a wonderful video.
So for the 8 iron you got on day day 16 in total , I did the math. (NOT A MATH WHIZ, so if somebody wants to check it, please go ahead :) ) You and Hobby had a total of 357 zombies killed. I multiplied 357 by 0.0083333... (5/600, from the source shown in the video) to get 0.83% of 357, and I got 2.98 . Subtracting 8 by 2.98, you got 5.02 more iron than you should have. And dividing 8/357 gives me the percent of iron you got, 0.0224%. Then by dividing 0.0224 with 0.0083, I got 2.70. TLDR you had a 2.70 times higher chance of getting iron, which is pretty lucky.
Since I've seen nobody do the math, here's me doing it :) To calculate the propabilities for the iron drops you can use the binomial distribution. Propability of a zombie dropping an iron bar: 0.0083=0.83% X: Number of zombies killed Hobby's iron-luck: 1 ingot 96 zombies X~B with n=96 and p=0.0083 Propability for one or more iron ingots from 96 zombies: P(X>=1)=1-P(X=0)=1-[(96 choose 0)*p^0*(1-p)^96]=1-[(1-0.0083)^96]=0.55=55% Your iron-luck: 7 ingot 261 zombies X~B with n=261 and p=0.0083 This one is a little more difficult so I am just going to use a calculator Propability for seven or more iron ingots from 261 zombies: P(X>=7)=1-P(X
the floodening was genius, mobs cant spawn on a water block, and so you cover the ground with water in the entire chunk, making it so that mobs will only spawn in the mob farm. Super super smart.
using right click with a shovel to make paths also works although that would of required shovels and they had limited wood... they could have gone with carpets as well...
i genuinely cant play survival without getting bored and going into creative, so mad props to you for playing for like 30hrs in a SUPERFLAT world. actually insane.
5:31 I have nothing better to do, no hobbies, no friends so i think this speaks to me. Hit me with the 🤓 The odds for Hobby are 36,1% that you get exactly one out of 96, or 55,1% that you get at least 1 iron out of 96. Btw. although this should really interest not a single soul i could show exactly how this i calculated if someone wishes. For you, the odds of getting at least 7 iron from 261 Zombie Kills are 0,663%, or 1 in 151. Not crazy unlikely but definitely quite lucky.
that actually really hard challenge for first time, but after you play a bit you might see that it's sky block but with more space and wood farm at last stage of game, even with limited amount of block pallet you both manage to build decent base, respect to good story telling as always Mog.
i think it is possible to do this without the bonus chest. at 6:41 and 8:57, pillagers spawned. they have a 10/39 chance to drop 0-1 emeralds, 5/39 to drop 2-3, and a 2/39 chance to drop 4-5. a wandering trader also spawned at 8:40, which can offer any sapling. you would need emeralds for this ^^^ witches can also drop sticks, as mentioned in the video at 5:56, so before you actually get logs you can still craft tools. A lot slower, but possible.
Niiiiice! I really like a few things about the vid: - You had this all labbed out. A lot of people bumble, goof around, but you know what needed to be done and how to do it. Nice! - Your building went well! No dirt box, you actually made the place look pretty. - Also, full respect for savescumming since waiting on RNG rain and RNG thunder are not fun to watch One of the best 100 days I've ever watched
After having done 3 playthroughs before this video, it really did help me become efficient and plan out well for getting through early game quickly and for it to be more enjoyable. My first playthrough I was punching zombies at night for iron taking 200 days for water

Dude this was your best yet imo I hope you can do more days on it or something similar I loved it! You guys make a great team too because that was a massive amount to accomplish in the time
Your luck: 1/37.29 chance or 2.68% Hobby: 1/96 chance or 1.04% Total: 1/44.63 chance or 2.24% Differential: 2.24% - 2.5% = -0.19% chance Your chances in order to get an iron ingot from a zombie was 0.19% less If you got an iron ingot from a zombie back to back the chances of that would be 0.0625% or 1/1,600 chance To avoid the long explanation, when it comes to percent chances they are are averaged out, since there is no definite chance, by being put to the power of their respective chance; 1 ingot = 1/40, 2 ingot = 1/1,600, 3 ingot 1/64,000 etc..(40 x 40, 1,600 x 40) and not in an exponential form like 1/40, 1/1,600, 1/2,560,000 (40 x 40, 1,600 x 1,600) EDIT: 12:06 If you had average rates at this point you would have 37 iron ingots , Zombie villagers are also able to drop iron ingots
I love the liveaction parts with the cute cat figure advancing along the days! Also this serves as a good tutorial for bedrock players who want to make superflat survival worlds- structures dont spawn in bedrock superflat

5:36 I haven't seen anyone actually do the binomial calculations for this so here goes:
To calculate the exact odds of this event, we need the following 3 variables:
p, the probability of success (the odds for a zombie to drop an iron ingot)
This probability is 5÷600 or around 0.8% → p = 5÷600
n, the number of trials (the number of zombies that he killed)
He killed 261 zombies → n = 261
x, the number of successes (the amount of iron he got from the 261 kills)
He got 7 iron → x = 7
We are evaluating luck based on *how many* iron got dropped, not the fact he got *exactly 7* iron. Therefore it's a good idea to calculate the cumulative probability P(X≥7) rather than the exact probability P(X=7). In other words, we calculate the probability to get 7 iron *or more*.
Plugging p,n & x into the binomial distribution formula, and summing to get P(X≥7), gives the final expression:
P(X≥7) = (1-P(X≤6)) = 1 - (∑(261!÷(k!*(261-k)!) * (5÷600)ᵏ * (1-(5÷600))²⁶¹⁻ᵏ)) , (0 ≤ k < x)
This comes out to around 0.00677 or 0.677%
*Answer* : The odds of getting 7 iron ingots (or more) from 261 zombie kills is approximately 0.677% or about 1 in 148. Not dream luck but lucky nonetheless.

If there were different biomes you could get a fox to spawn and then get emeralds from them to buy a sapling from the trader which you could get apples from, but I’m pretty sure superflat is all plains so…
@@Andrew-pq3lj I wouldn't do it, I like foxes(as long as they don't attack my chickens but if there's a lot of them I just place a few polar bears in the fences)
its not hard it just take luck and time
I absolutely love it when creators mention other TH-camrs designs and give credit and even link the vids
The uniqueness of the challenge, in addition to the technical mindset, makes this a highly enjoyable 100 days challenge style video- most of them have arbitrary and uninteresting twists, but this one has a logical yet unique twist that makes for a wonderful video.
Wow, surviving 100 days on just dirt is insane! Your creativity and perseverance are off the charts. Amazing job on this challenge!

This is really impressive. Surprisingly interesting. I did not know you could do so much starting with so little.
I recommend Pinu's Vanilla One Block SkyBlock, this is impressive but Pinu's Playthrough is even more crazy
@@Skycrafter64 one block gives random items that you wouldnt normally get in superflat no structures, so this is defo more impressive 😬

Do saplings not spawn in Bonus Chests on Java? They 100% do on bedrock
You dont need them
@@HaydenGlencrossI like how you waited 5 months and then still missed the point of the comment. Idiot
Some do have saplings
Only bedrock have this
Only bedrock
17:14 that was pretty neat
Please continue this series i will love to watch more of this
Watching this video for second time.
Such good content !!
Dude some kids are stealing your vids on tt luckily you put the names from who is speaking so I could find the real creator
Name of their yt
@@newasaleh2427he prolly forgot considering that was 10 months ago
They are reuploading vids jus because theyre too fuckig lazy to make original content
I respect not getting a sapling from the starter chest, The amount of work put into this is insane to me! good shit
Because you cant get one in Java. That is only in bedrock
Ty
Am confused
You have the right numbers, but not enough zeros
You sure your not a math whiz?
6:01 the big what and Ik dig not the other thing
Since I've seen nobody do the math, here's me doing it :)
To calculate the propabilities for the iron drops you can use the binomial distribution.
Propability of a zombie dropping an iron bar: 0.0083=0.83%
X: Number of zombies killed
Hobby's iron-luck: 1 ingot 96 zombies
X~B with n=96 and p=0.0083
Propability for one or more iron ingots from 96 zombies:
P(X>=1)=1-P(X=0)=1-[(96 choose 0)*p^0*(1-p)^96]=1-[(1-0.0083)^96]=0.55=55%
Your iron-luck: 7 ingot 261 zombies
X~B with n=261 and p=0.0083
This one is a little more difficult so I am just going to use a calculator
Propability for seven or more iron ingots from 261 zombies:
P(X>=7)=1-P(X
"Hobby was working on dying and I'm not talking Oogie Mane" that went hard 🔥🔥
the floodening was genius, mobs cant spawn on a water block, and so you cover the ground with water in the entire chunk, making it so that mobs will only spawn in the mob farm. Super super smart.
using right click with a shovel to make paths also works although that would of required shovels and they had limited wood... they could have gone with carpets as well...
Bro at 3:46 i heard bro say "i stayed at the farm working on the big *drake*" but yeah very good job :D
You should make this into a series. I would love to see more of the things you and hobby do in this world
Entertaining as always!
Great to finally see the structureless run, it's everything I expected and more.
i genuinely cant play survival without getting bored and going into creative, so mad props to you for playing for like 30hrs in a SUPERFLAT world. actually insane.
I watch these videos regularly, it never gets boring! Thank you!
The circle base is SOOOOOOO cool!! And the color coded sheep pens… worth it!!
u guys are so wholesome playing together - i hope this series goes on for a long time
5:31 I have nothing better to do, no hobbies, no friends so i think this speaks to me. Hit me with the 🤓
The odds for Hobby are 36,1% that you get exactly one out of 96, or 55,1% that you get at least 1 iron out of 96. Btw. although this should really interest not a single soul i could show exactly how this i calculated if someone wishes. For you, the odds of getting at least 7 iron from 261 Zombie Kills are 0,663%, or 1 in 151. Not crazy unlikely but definitely quite lucky.
Brilliant
Wow🤓
Smort man.
Smart guy
Thanks

You're epic for this, I don't know If I'd ever be able to do this good!
that actually really hard challenge for first time, but after you play a bit you might see that it's sky block but with more space and wood farm at last stage of game, even with limited amount of block pallet you both manage to build decent base, respect to good story telling as always Mog.
Best surviving in this amount of days video ever so fast paced and not boring 10/10 i beg for 200 days
Id love to see a 200 days. I really enjoyed this challenge. I normally click off a video like this in a few minutes.
I love the way the base looks thanks for being the one to do this and not one of us

Lol
2nd video on this topic ive seen on TH-cam. Been waiting for your video to come out. One of my favourite challenges in minecraft aswell.
The first one was of Jaron if I am correct right?
i think it is possible to do this without the bonus chest.
at 6:41 and 8:57, pillagers spawned. they have a 10/39 chance to drop 0-1 emeralds, 5/39 to drop 2-3, and a 2/39 chance to drop 4-5.
a wandering trader also spawned at 8:40, which can offer any sapling. you would need emeralds for this ^^^
witches can also drop sticks, as mentioned in the video at 5:56, so before you actually get logs you can still craft tools.
A lot slower, but possible.
pillagers don't drop emeralds, only vindicators and evokers drop emeralds
When did he get cobblestone or items used for smelting like charcoal
@@Louslife202 you can trade with fisherman villagers for campfires, breaking the campfires gives you charcoal.
Probably one of the most entertaining and impressive 100 days I've ever seen
Niiiiice! I really like a few things about the vid:
- You had this all labbed out. A lot of people bumble, goof around, but you know what needed to be done and how to do it. Nice!
- Your building went well! No dirt box, you actually made the place look pretty.
- Also, full respect for savescumming since waiting on RNG rain and RNG thunder are not fun to watch
One of the best 100 days I've ever watched
After having done 3 playthroughs before this video, it really did help me become efficient and plan out well for getting through early game quickly and for it to be more enjoyable. My first playthrough I was punching zombies at night for iron taking 200 days for water

This is my 3rd time watching this and it is still so fun!!
this is by far the most creative and difficult series I have ever seen, can we please get a part 2?
This is type of stuff I love, people who have such a big knowledge of Minecraft they can transform a superflat world into a survivable world. Insane.
Idk whos idea was that but this is "WOW" good job boys! Love you❤️
Love the working on dying reference
this was such a banger, so much skill and creativity! I hope this series can go on!
It is crazy how important wood is in this game. Without it you are not getting very far.
These 100 days were amazing. Amazing transform of the base, very nice!
Keep up the good work mog I've been here since the start of your channel and I'm glad to see you doing well I'm proud to say I'm an og for my favorite TH-camr
This minimalist way of Minecraft looks so fun and relaxing.
i would love to see a part two to this and see how far you can take it!
Dude this was your best yet imo I hope you can do more days on it or something similar I loved it! You guys make a great team too because that was a massive amount to accomplish in the time
This is the type of content that is interesting and fun to watch. Going from nothing to massive home.
Impressive final result. Did not expect it to be so lively starting from so little.
Blimey! This is incredibly impressive! Great job on the epic base despite the huge challenges! 😱😃
I’ve seen a lot of 100 days of superflat, and this has been my favorite one yet
SO GOOD, UR VIDS ARE THE BEST OF THE BEST WAYD IT GO MAN
Your luck: 1/37.29 chance or 2.68%
Hobby: 1/96 chance or 1.04%
Total: 1/44.63 chance or 2.24%
Differential: 2.24% - 2.5% = -0.19% chance
Your chances in order to get an iron ingot from a zombie was 0.19% less
If you got an iron ingot from a zombie back to back the chances of that would be 0.0625% or 1/1,600 chance
To avoid the long explanation, when it comes to percent chances they are are averaged out, since there is no definite chance, by being put to the power of their respective chance; 1 ingot = 1/40, 2 ingot = 1/1,600, 3 ingot 1/64,000 etc..(40 x 40, 1,600 x 40) and not in an exponential form like 1/40, 1/1,600, 1/2,560,000 (40 x 40, 1,600 x 1,600)
EDIT: 12:06
If you had average rates at this point you would have 37 iron ingots , Zombie villagers are also able to drop iron ingots
Wait don't saplings spawn in starter chests or is that just bedrock
Bedrock
bedrock and even if i doubt he would have it enabled if he could
bedrock and even if i doubt he would have it enabled if he could
The point is just dirt but they do require a fracting table at least, so I assume they just spawned worlds till they got limited resources

I'm pretty sure they meant Minecraft days
I love the liveaction parts with the cute cat figure advancing along the days! Also this serves as a good tutorial for bedrock players who want to make superflat survival worlds- structures dont spawn in bedrock superflat
