What would be fantastic would be a strategy or strategies you could suggest for managing the overall approach of FL Studio - which things to use Per Project links for vs Global Links or Roving target links, and why. I have occasionally been baffled by the FL Studio manual on this topic, and usually I find myself wishing for something more flexible. I'd love to be able to simply call up presets of linking schemes separately from templates (so that there's no risk of overwriting the stuff that one wants to be global and constant, versus stuff that is very project dependent. But that's not the only issue. The other is I wish there were a pre-prioritized macro system. If everyone plugin used a 'pitch & mod wheel & 8 macro system' for the most-used controllers, I think I could adapt to this. But what's tricky is those plugins that need quite a few controllers but you're not sure what priority to use (& can't remember it) so for instance do you assign vibrato depth to slider 1 or slider 6? Like I say, if the plugin creator would use their insight and priority for us, then we could probably just consult the manual on those most used settings, and get them assigned once and for all to our hardware controllers.

When I link let's say some knobs to Serum and then I want to link the same knobs to different plugin and use the same knob for both plugins, it always overwrites the link.. (when I have opened Serum, the knob works and when I have a different plugin that knob works for something else) is it possible to link the same knob, fader to multiple functions in different plugins? thanks! :)
I'm losin my fuckin mind with this shit. After hours of fuckin with midi scripts I gave up on that and followed your video on how to setup my KeyLab Ess. 49. Mackie, DAW Mode, ports all correct, triple checked. But when I try to map a parameter to a knob/fader, the icon in the top left is orange, meaning it receives the midi signal but nothing happens. I tried with override generic and link to controller and it goes for FL plugins as well, not just third party as I noticed just now. @Inflight or anyone else, please help if you have any idea what could cause this. 🙏 google couldn't help.

I try this to map a sustain pedal to cc64 for my piano vst, (which it doesn't work automatically by default somehow). It does not work. The cc64 from my sustain pedal is seen by FL as I see the flashing midi event signal as well as in the debugging log, but when I use the override global link, it does not stay working, it'll will say its mapped to cc64 but the debugging log say the cc64 is "Not handle". However if I use "link to controller: with cc64, it DOES work. but it will not transfer to another instance of the same plugin. So now I'm stuck to have to manually map my sustain pedal everytime I have to use it on any plugin. Honestly don't know why FL does not handle the cc64 from my keyboard to the cc64 of the focused channel by default. Huge oversight in my opinion.

Hi, absolutely loved this tutorial. Helped a lot... I would like some assistance. I managed to use my smart phone as midi to control some parameters in a 3rd party plugin. The issue now is that I want to record automation in another instance of the same plugin but it always affects all of them when I'm literally just trying to focus on that one I've got open. Do you know how to get around this?
Unfortunately if it is the same plugin, it will always react to that. An alternative would be to right click the channel your duplicate instrument is on and change the midi channel. Now you have to be on that same midi channel to change it. That's just a thought...not sure if that will for sure work.
Is there a way to control the "next patch"? Or the next sample in the VST plug-in? I have the FLkey37 and all FL plugins work but non-FL don't :( If I click the next sample or sound within the plugin I don't get any Macro in the project list to assign to a button on the Midi controller. Is there any workaround? I used this method for knob controllers and its worked perfectly, so thank you.
As far as I know, that isn't possible with standard mapping. It is based on the plugin itself, which is why we are able to do this with analog lab and arturia controllers. However, FL has a midi script option that I have not messed around with yet that could be a solution. I would go to the imageline forum to get direct help with that. It's possible someone has already made this script. But again, you might need a different script depending on the plugin.

Hello. Fastastic tutorial, but i have a problema, I have done all the steps you have explained. I have an Arturia Minilab MK2 midi keyboard and when I turn the controller off and back on again the mappings are lost. Any idea how I can save them?
Try setting a mapping like I showed in the video and then in the plugin wrapper menu of the plugin you mapped, click "Save channel state as..." This will create a new plugin file with the channel settings and should still have everything mapped. So instead of loading your original plugin, load the channel state instead. I tested turning on and off with my keylab and it keeps everything still. Maybe mapping and saving templates will keep it? Something to test with your minilab for sure.

Apparently, the order factor is important here. If I load the Arturia templates in a different order, FL studio does not find them. I have to load in the same order the Midi control center template to the Arturia so FL studio will remember the mappings. thanks

i have the little akai midimix mixer,if i linked the sliders like you showed,then only 8 sliders would be linked and you couldnt use the bank button to choose the next 8 sliders,do you have a better way of doing so,would this work better if i named it as one of the mackie controls,if so,wich one?
I doubt it but is there a way I can map generic links per plugin. As in, I want to be able to only control them when I have the interface open. So I can switch between programming synth vsts with knobs. That way I don't control multiple synths with one knob or override each one. Edit: nvm it works! :)

That's not possible due to flawed design of FL studio. There's no way of saving your midi mappings for a specific plugin, which is completely ridiculous.
I have a quick question. When you link faders on your controller to Fl Studio mixer is it possible in any way to link the mute mixer track light to the buttons under the faders on my controller?
For custom mapping, you can switch to user mode. Keep in mind you wont be able to map the on/off in FL studio, which is unfortunate for the tracks. But you can still use the buttons to map to the faders. Now when you push the button it will instantly turn the track all the way up or all the way down. I recommend adding a fruity balance or some sort of gain plugin to your fx chain to use as a fader if you choose this solution.
Will this work if I move the FLP file from my desktop to laptop? :) Ive had issues where I had to re-link all my controllers when I move an FLP to my laptop :\
?? do u have the vst called poise? I hope so because I've been trying to link the volume & pitch on the pad control on poise too my MPD knobs, So I can control them all, it worked but only to 1 pad at a time, I wonder if u could help with any advice, or maybe there's nothin i can do

I'm not sure what you mean by "it shows up" Remember, the version I'm using in the video is older...you can still see that it shows up no problem, and still does. You said you put "it" as mackie universal....what is "it"? I have a feeling that's where your problem is. Also, Arturia still is not officially supported as far as I know. Their controllers still are not listed in the drop down menu of controllers. Again, I recommend following along in the video and take your time. If you literally do what I show, you will get the results I show. Just gotta slow down a little and follow the details I laid out for you.

No, you can't map the tabs...only midi options.
