I have always had such an awe for Maisky and the way he plays. This was in incredible episode. "You never finish, properly. At least, That's the idea. The more you learn the more you realize how little you know and how much more there is to learn. So it's a continuous process. I always say that trying to reach perfection in music, or any art, is like an illusion. It's like trying to reach the horizon. The closer you come the more it goes away. It doesn't mean the man shouldn't try to come closer but as long as you realize you will never touch it there is no frustration."
Watched a number of these videos… great guests, sure but I have to really give credit to Zsolt Bognar for such a highly professional work - the quality of presentation, language, questions, insights and the incredible energy he creates for his guests. If only one percent of actual “journalists” or news professionals had his vocabulary, humility and manners
Dear Henrik, your words mean more than you can imagine especially at the very moment. Although I alas am not a real journalist, I do my best to assemble a lot of research for preparation, and then during walks and sleepless nights I give thought to what a conversation might bring-each takes so much. But hearing your words makes me feel like continuing-thank you from the bottom of my heart, from musician to musician, zsolt ✨🙏
@@Living-the-Creative-Life I truly mean it! My father was a prominent journalist in the country I was born and occasionally interviewed musicians, too (Gergiev, Mansurian). I almost went to journalism/writing myself. While this doesn’t give me any opinion more weight, having grown up in an environment of journalists and musicians, I do realize the gigantic effort you need to invest in all of this, especially combined with your professional life as a musician!! I can’t stress enough how well-thought your questions are, the structure, timing and language, and how your demeanor creates an atmosphere where your guests feel very comfortable opening up to a genuine conversation. Thank you for the effort and quality!!
Thanks for posting this lovely interview. I very much appreciated the recollections and reminiscence on Radu Lupu. He was such an interesting man and wonderful musician. He is deeply missed.
I just listened to Joshua Bell talk about knowing is mind, and here is this GIFT from some other realm again, helping confirm the best of life, effort of mind… and effort and making more effort to “know” the expressive power of sound through work and personality. THIS interview with Mr Maisky….drawn out by Zolt again and his team; inspires a trust in seriousness. No matter what stage of life we are at. It’s ok to be serious no matter what level. So so grateful for these unique soul to soul interviews. Thank you.
I’m speechless with your incredible feedback, which I’ll forward to the team-I’ll also save these words just for myself as well. Thank you so much -zsolt
I am loving this interview! Out of the new interviews that you have put out, this one and Emmanuel Pahud are my favorites!!! I have a couple of requests for interviews: Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Martha Argerich, Tiffany Poon, Daniel Barenboim, Jasmine Choi, Hilary Hahn, your teacher Sergei Babyan, Sir James Galway, Denis Bouriakov, any of the McGill brothers or Alondra de la Parra. Btw, I love Mischa Maisky’s recordings of the Bach Cello Suites.
Terrific list of suggestions! I wrote them down and will discuss with the team. I’m so glad you enjoyed this so much-isn’t he wonderful? ✨☕️ I could listen to his stories all day
He’s magnetic and elusive! We will try to work on this-we will have some European filming this summer in July. Maybe we’ll get lucky! Thanks so much for watching ✨ -zsolt
Just discovered this channel...it's amazing and brilliant! Wonderful interviews with Legends that illuminate their humanity and give us great insight into their personalities, histories and philosophies. Thank you and keep up the great work!
We’re so thrilled to have somehow reached you and resonated with you-it takes so much work to put each episode together so it really means so much to us when we hear words of appreciation! This one in particular was a lot of fun to put together. Keep in touch! -zsolt ✨
I’m struck that I was able to see Radu many times in Chicago including perhaps his last time with Muti - but never Misha. But we are still both alive …
Speaking of living legends at the end of their careers, is there any chance of interviewing Alfred Brendel? His exquisite interpretations of Schubert, Haydn, and others have been such an inspiration.
@@da__lang He was a huge inspiration to me--I would love to have him on the program--I don't have any direct contact with him but I will see what we can do 💫

One guest which would be a dream would be Arcadi Volodos. Probably not possible though as he doesn't do media as such?
