Thanks for your video. I totally agree with you that ChatGPT will not replace a teacher. I think it can be an excellent addition to learning.

I think that a robot will never replace a human being! Referring to learning English, I don/t want to do a performance in this matter, I only learn your lessons on TH-cam! I am a pensioner and learn English only for my pleasure! Your lessons are wonderful and I thank you for them!

Everyone is talking about it these days so I was curious to try it out. Great, will use it more often, but it will never be a substitute for dedicated teachers who want the best for their students from the heart, like you Greg. The difference is palpable. The world would be poorer the other way. That is my firm conviction.❤

This is an interesting question! I hope Greg answers.
      I will sleep
      I will be asleep
      They are like each other
      They are alike
      🤔

BTW GPT can explain not only in English and in your native language as well.
And you can give him a prompt to be your personal trainer for any topic. E. g. he can ask you questions about propositions one by one and correct you if you answered wrong and at the end he can count answers and tell you the results.

Thank you. A new tool to recover my level of English, lost in an Spanish environment. I have also ELSA, but it is very difficult to interact with her. As a tutor in a third world country, I am always studying English, and as an Economist, always listening to Financial, Political, and Macroeconomics news.

Even better: I download the app Teacher AI and chat with YOU - well not really you, but your virtual counterpart, who teaches British English on that platform. The huge advantage is that I can converse as if in a real conversation; I don't have to type everything. That said, there's also the option to type or copy/paste any text, if I want.

I'm trying to learn all of the verbs tenses and i was going well until this phrase appeared to me ; " The car had overheated and he had walked to a farm to ask for a jug of water ". Could you please explain me why " had " appeared twice ? And please tell me if i wrote something wrong. Thanks !

Very well delivered indeed, showing that you already have worked hard to wrap your brain around this chatGPT-Thing, much better then I have til date. It also serves as a reminder that the human factor (phew!) in acquiring a new language should never be underestimated. Well done and thank you!

@EnglishWithGrag Greg, unfortunately, ChatGPT doesn't learn from us. It just "learns" from the context in a single conversation. Just FYI

Perhaps some students did use their laptops to study during the worst days of the pandemic, but I am almost certain, that, in the majority of those cases, there was a teacher pushing them to study sitted at some desk linked to the internet. Sorry, but you cannot get rid of us that easy!

Chatgpt not only could replace language teacher, but also replace language learning soon, if you give her a sound-sending-receiving device.

  • @solangeamato2949

Most students will not use computers and other devices to study. They will simply watch movies and play games. Teachers have to be there to push you into studying. To make you sit down and pay attention to their lessons, apply tests to assess your progress in a subject and prevent students from killing each other!

5:30 Why on earths I have to grade my own test myself??? Let gpt do it!
11:40 Ah, now I understand why my "English" is awful: I hated the English teachers, and I'm afraid (or even sure) they hated me too. And now I will have the perfect robot teacher, who is just stupidly indifferent and who can be turned off at any time! (BTW, I'm scientist...)

Too much "chatgptism" everywhere lately. Agreed, it's a good tool for doing many different things, but...
A lot of people are totally hipnotised by the chat. They idolise it too much. They think it to be unmistakable. But it's not. So, I agree 💯 chat GPT is a great helper, but not a teacher or an unreplaceable creator of anything like many people think.
