Picked the wrong woman cause she's financially irresponsible at 26? They can work together to become better with finances and be out of debt by the time they're 30 and be well off before 40 and live a healthy happy life.

Brian Waller, how? He said that he has no money. There's no savings to clean out. There was no mention of owning a home. The car & student loans are in her name, so the debt should fall on her if they divorce. She makes more than he does, so I wouldn't expect him to be stuck with alimony.... Custody of the child & child support is a battle that he would probably lose. I don't see anything else... I think that he needs a divorce.

3k/yr is just $55/wk......not exactly blowing him away dollar for dollar. Btw she has a Masters at 26 and 120k in SL debt but still thinks good idea to get new car. Dude has fool for wife, hopefully she will leave him before she buries him. Smartest thing that happened is his name NOT on car loan.

@texan903 Student loans are definitely not his, she's got them for life and no court would ever make him pay for her debt in her name that she took out. I borrowed 20k for grad school and finally got rid of that debt. Nobody signed but me. Government doesn't go after spouse, just the borrower.

My ex-wife did the same thing to me. She would spend her money, plus mine on a new pair of shoes every month, clothes, going out with friends and buying drinks. She would make me out to be the bad guy when I would call her out on it. I finally put the brakes on the situation and told her we would start splitting the bills evenly and I got a separate checking account so she couldn't spend my money. She then left me for a married guy that makes more money. At first I was devastated. After 2 years of being divorced I realize that it was the best thing for me. Now she is his problem and I have more money in my pocket and I am paying the same amount bills now on my own that she and I were supposed to be splitting when I was married.

My wife did this to me also...., she got herself into a 2015 Jeep Cherokee with $500/month payments and $300/month insurance payments. Her dad actually co-signed on the loan for her. It's my fault for marrying a complete child, I take full responsibility, but I was laughing and crying at the same time when the vehicle got repossessed less than a year later, because I refused to help with the payments. I was an injured party, but it was the ultimate justice to see her reaction when her car was getting towed. The moment when a 25 year old baby gets their toy taken away: Hilarious.

I’m studying social work and will have less than $10,000 in debt because I’m actively pursuing grants and scholarships. Social workers in general are underpaid for the work they do, but I knew that - this is what I feel driven to do. This woman went about it all the wrong way. Be smart - go to community college for first two years, transfer to a four-year and GET SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS, then work for awhile. Gain experience, save up money for your graduate degree and research adult scholarships, OR actively seek out a company that will pay for you to further your education.
People are just too quick to sign on the dotted line for easy loan money. I don’t think this woman ever intended to repay her student loans; she even told her husband they’ll never pay it off.

    Marriage- get counseling.

    • @mrfred1000
      @mrfred1000 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Counseling lol we've also been brainwashed that's always the solution. I would suggest people try it out but that's not the answer. The answer is proper role placement. When he said "we need to sell the car" it should have been, "So we're selling this car, we will look at all the options and alternatives" and her answer should have been, yes husband. They do have some issues to work out, but the reason marriages don't work is because both husband and wife are not filling their roles. Man runs the house, the woman doesn't, therefor even if she works, he decides things. Women that don't want to be submissive need to stay single or change their thinking. And the funny thing is, with the right husband, they wouldn't act like this. They say stuff like "I wouldn't do that he'd kill me" not literally but saying they don't do certain things because they fear the husbands backlash, which they should. Today, there's no respect in the marriages, it's we both do what we want and if the relationship works it works, *Thumbs up* and people aren't particular about who they marry on the 3 big issues. Money, religion, kids. Most important 3. You will definitely want to divorce over those 3 or not even get married because of those 3.
1-How money is spend and who has authority over it
2-How kids are raised and who has authority over the house
3-What faith binds the home and decisions based on it. What church, beliefs, morality etc.
It's same page or no marriage. They at least have to be open to the 3 and I mean truly open not just saying they are.

Go to a marital counselor to determine what sort of future you have with your wife. Better to do it now than later when you are both in more debt. Good luck. Wish you the best.

Married way too early without knowing about each others money habit and management...

Really, Dave? It's the Guy's Fault? It's always the guy's fault! It's HER SPENDING, not HIS! How is it HIS Problem??

He's the one that has allowed it to go on for this long. When he first saw her spending, he should have sat her down and explained the new financial set-up. Other than household money, she wasn't going to get another dime from him. She was on her own. If he quit paying her debt, she would have had no choice but to quit making bills.

I disagree with Dave on this one - hopeless doesn't spend 31K on a new car, on top of 120K student loan debt. A 2K used car does the same thing. Poor guy, stuck with a princess.

Exactly! There's a limit to what can be paid out versus what's coming in. I think she just doesn't care what damage this is doing to their finances and she just decided she wanted a new car. That's why she went and bought it without his knowledge.
