    Always remember: "quiet quitting" is the way they're trying to brand workers as lazy, the actual praxis is called "work to rule" (look it up). If that's too hard to remember, you can always go with "act your wage". Or, if you must insist on "quiet quitting", you should probably also talk about "quiet firing", which is when your employer doesn't give you a raise for half a decade because times are oh so tough, while posting record profits.

      That's not how the only person we've had to deal with used it. He was using his personal phone on shift and sitting in the Office instead of doing the patrols the client was paying for him to do. He was writing that he was still doing the work but it was easily shown on camera that he wasn't. The manager's with some other local companies were complaining about the same thing, people lying that they did what they were supposed to and they didn't.
      Not the lack of good employee's that'll help out their coworkers or the clients, but the trend of people lying that they did their minimum while goofing off.
      There's a difference between not doing your job and expecting to get paid for it while calling it "quiet quitting" and doing the task list without going above to help your coworkers.

    • @blackmark2899
      @blackmark2899 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nehpets216 That's him literally quietly quitting his job. The term is being used on people that are doing what they are paid to do. If your example was correct, the guy would've been on patrol and done what he's supposed to do but he wouldn't be doing anything off the clock or something he was never trained to do nor above his pay grade.

      @@blackmark2899 As I said, I've seen people talking about it online as not doing more than what is needed but the only experiences I've heard about in real life are people using it as a reason for them not doing the job at all and lying to get paid.

    CORRECTION: as others have mentioned, "quiet quitting" is just doing your job as specified in your contract. Employers are trying to make it seem as if only doing what you are required to do - which is also all you're paid for - is somehow lazy, when the truth is that employers just want free labour.

    • @lyndsaybrown8471
      @lyndsaybrown8471 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep. I think people get the idea that quiet quitters are people who do the bare minimum at a 9 to 5 job that also includes a one hour lunch break.
      When really it's people who used to work unpaid overtime on nights, weekends, and early mornings; people who always picked up and finished the projects that other "team" members just somehow could not; people who have been literally catching and fixing corporate errors before it becomes a problem; it's these people who are quitting in the sense that they will no longer be subjecting themselves to burn out.

If you’re trying to identify what type of glue was used, burning a bit of it can narrow it down really quickly. Sept 22 was the fall (autumnal) equinox, which means the days and nights are of equal length, and essentially represents the middle point of the cirlce. The days will get shorter from this point forward until the winter solstice, which is the apex point of this circular pattern, where the day is the shortest and the night is the longest of the season (and the summer solstice would be on the opposite side of the circle - longest day, shortest night). From that day until the next equinox the days will again grow longer and the nights shorter, until they meet in the middle again. Which will culminate with the spring equinox in which the days and nights are again of equal length, and just so happens to also be my birthday weekend so I am personally invested in knowing the difference between an equinox and a solstice. Once, at one of my busiest events, a mother holding a child of about 3 pushed other kids out of the way to pick up a cup of glue, while I explained the science of the slime. I watched in horror as this Schoolyard Karen hands the three-year-old this clear cup with a milky white liquid inside. Before I can say anything, that kid has drunk all the glue.
