I think once the cancer will relapse you will feel like shit you SC...
Man I just have to say thank to GOD you are not some kind of professional review guy because that would just hurt them, THESE TWO SONGS ARE SOOO GOOD PERFECT BALLANCE. ENJOYING DOING REACTION TO SONG YOU'VE HEARD HUNDREDS TIME... NOW THAT'S BEING PROFESSIONAL... 🤣😅😂
This is a band writing a song for both themselves and their long-time fans that have been around for 25 years, and you can't even focus long enough because it's slow. You don't have to like the song, but you know their history and why they're doing this, so criticizing it for being slow and looking back at their lives while making fun of Mark's cancer is a super weird take. I've never been around for any of your live streams, but I can see you like to hear yourself talk. If this is how you consume media, it explains a lot to be honest. I've been soured on your content for awhile, but I'm quickly understanding the general disdain online towards you and your attitude. Before you delete my comment, I hope that in the future you take the time to think a bit more before you speak. Not everything has to be a hot take.
I alway said w the comedy of blink. The dark ess of atrio. N respext to tom. They shoulda called its. Blink 183. 3 saluting a trio n not disrespecting tom n still b funny n kool
Not having a very bad upbringing nor a great one either is exactly why Blink resonated with me so much as a teen. Their songs encapsulate teen angst so purely, no one has done it better. Absolutely love 'one more time', takes me back to those times and makes me so happy that I got out of them on the right side
teen angst by definition is nirvana and blink lmao
That describes my childhood in a nutshell. I was a suburban kid from a middle class family.
I could dreamed of having a not bad upbringing.
Beautifully said my bro
Man, as a blink fan for over 20 years, One More Time made me cry. Damn
Tf
One More Time feels like it was written specifically to evoke nostalgia in long time fans and damn does it work. Especially the last pic of the band walking down the street, totally evokes memories of being a high schooler in the late 90s and being obsessed with Enema of the State
That’s exactly what my husband and I said after watching it, we were in HS when this came out and we went to their concert! It’s like their memories ARE our memories too!
Tom brings the energy, Mark brings the heart, and Travis ties it all together with his drums. If you lose any of them, you lose Blink, even if the Skiba era was fine.
I’d argue Tom embodies the soul of blink as well, they literally couldn’t have sounded any different than when he was out.
The only time Mark came close to sounding like blink without Tom was +44 and I attribute that to the fact that him and Travis made that right after untitled.
What about skiba?
@@mynameislove1704 Skiba is a perfectly good replacement lol
@@morethanjake6002 Totally fair. I guess by "heart" I just meant he brings the emotion, if that makes sense. I think of songs like Adam's Song and Stay Together for the Kids. Don't know if that makes sense, but that's what I was going for. Completely fair point about Tom though.
@@mynameislove1704It’s blink’s weakest shit. I like Alkaline Trio but he just didn’t fit. He and Mark don’t gel. The charisma isn’t there. There’s no broship.
I really like Mark as a musician but I don’t think he is a strong band leader though. Tom is the leader of blink. It’s clear to anyone with ears. I would like to hear them have a feature with Skiba though. I was very curious to see how three singers would sound. However, I am happy to see just the three of them together again.
There hasn’t been anything make grown ass men cry like this since Luke Skywalker showed up in the Mandalorian.
If you can quit your HUGE band, say to the world, "Aliens are real!", testify to Congress or whatever, rejoin the huge band and keep ALL of your street cred then you gotta be one of most charismatic motherf**Ker's on the planet. Tom in a nutshell.
Depends what you mean with street cred. I still think he‘s crazy. But a good musician. Unfortunately, that’s not uncommon. (A lot of bipolar people are artists, e.g.)
“Strangers to friends, friends to strangers” describes pretty much my entire social circle at 38. I keep in contact with like two or three people now, and haven’t actually seen any of them in literally years.
That's the majority of people you'll meet in life unfortunately. It's crazy how the people you spent all day with in college become complete strangers literally weeks after you graduate.
One More Time, I feel is a celebration of their lives and an apology to themselves. It’s okay they wrote a song for just for them. More Than definitely has strong ST and Neighborhoods vibes.
Yeah the bridge of more than you know have some violence vibes
Dogs Eating Dogs with more production.
@@travisspazz1624no… this sounds nothing like that EP. At all.
Not even slightly lol
Travis Barker doesn't wear shirts anymore because Kourtney keeps stealing them.
😂😂😂😂
I dont understand the joke..
He was like that before he met her so as much as it appreciate the joke, it makes no sense
It's cause she change her whole style after meeting him and only wear band ts n shit now .. calling her a poser
@@HOOONIER damn.. I never considered a style for a hole..
Edit: ah now you added a W
Zane has a name in the industry, and has done wonderful interviews to some of the best musicians over the years. I'm actually surprised you never heard of him.
Former BBC Radio 1 guy, bit out of Finn's wheelhouse I think.
Yeah Zane is one of the best interviewers out there and has been for awhile.
Industry plant
@diejobWHO that’s because America is the best 🇺🇸
@@ChrisMcSweeney agreed, but Zane was also on MTV 2 back in the day, and there is no shortage of great interviews from him on TH-cam. But yeah, Americans very frequently live in a bubble and don't even know it.
Zane Lowe has been around since the late 90s, he started out on MTV over in Europe. He actually interviewed Blink back in 1999 when Enema of the State first came out, you can find the video if you search.
Exactly. And nobody knows who tf the punk rock mba is just some random old man who wishes he was still hip
Zane Lowe had a prime spot on the UK’s biggest radio station (radio 1) for years, and was one of the DJs that would play more up and coming music/music you wouldn’t normally hear in the charts. This is going back quite some time now but that’s when I first became aware of him.
He was also a vj on MTV Europe wasn’t he? That’s where I seem to remember seeing him for the first time.
“Blink is not blink without Tom”
My line since their first breakup has been “No Tom, no blink”
Haters can hate. I am 49, and have been listening since Chesire Cat. These two songs hit it right for me, and haven't fawned over anything they have done since Enema, so it's not blind loyalty. "More Than You Ever Know" especially rocks harder than anything else I can remember. The double bass pedal felt like a religious experience.
I've been with them since the 90s and the double pedal throws me off!
I like it musically, but the production feels overdone.
Very cool 🙌 I'm 31 and have been listening since I was 6 or 7. Found Enema Of The State and dove into Cheshire, Dude Ranch and Flyswatter. Fell off after the Untitled album. Stoked they're still at it.
😀😀😀, I'll be 49 in November and I don't listen to anything besides Cheshire and Dude Ranch 👍👊. I'm mainly stuck in the mid 90's 🤷♂️, we can fight anyone on this page that disagrees 😉🤛🤜🤛🤜🤛🤜👊👊👊
@@1thess523 Dude Ranch is still the best!
I haven't seen much hate. Idk who isn't happy for this
Dude, Zane is a legit legend who has been a part of the scene and interviewing ppl for 20+ years. Put some respect on his name
Zane Lowe was an MTV 2 UK presenter in the 00s and he was the biggest alternative radio DJ on BBC Radio 1 until Apple poached him.
I saw Blink with Matt a few years back. Caught a Blink show with Tom a few months ago. The difference was unbelievable. The energy, the crowd work, the chemistry, the sound. FAR better show.
I saw Blink twice during their first reunion show. Definitely the funnest shows I’ve been to.
must have been nice, saw them several times before the original breakup and Tom was plastered and forgetting lyrics. The one Skiba show I went to was just much more consistent, even though it's not wrong to say "It didn't feel like Blink 182"
It does seem like Tom worked out his demons though. He sounded good on this last tour from what I've seen and heard in clips.
Tom was terrible 2009-2014 with Blink. Bad live vocals and guitar work. Ever since they reunited he's been a million times better.
@@Matt92Machinelittle auto tune helps (I love blink but just want to let you know that’s a part of it)
Appreciate you showing Matt Skiba love. He’s super talented and I believe that he played his hand in the best way that he could. He’s more suited to Alkaline and other projects, but it isn’t necessary settling, just different.
Yes, totally love CYNICAL!
He didn’t show him love lol he said the skiba era blink isn’t good at all
@@ceej93 That’s fair. Now that I listen back to it, it’s obviously not super positive. I probably heard something in there that I interpreted too liberally. He did what he could with his style and regardless, I’m glad Blink is back.
Blink182 Pop Disaster Tour in Milwaukee was my first rock show. I was 13 years old. I still remember Travis doing his drum solo while his whole set was in the air flipping upside down in circles. It was mind blowing. Such a great show. 🤘🤘🤘
Me too. Pop Disaster Tour in Toronto. Bought my first guitar after that and learned every blink song over the next few years.
That tour was my 2nd pop punk show. GC was first. Awesome show tho 🎉❤
Best part of One More Time is when they sing “I Miss You” Travis starts in with brushes. The only Blink song he’s used brushes on is I miss you 20 years ago. So good!
Also, it is a double kick pedal. Travis posted a video of himself recording with a double kick pedal and it’s the same beat as in that song. Sorry nerding out on drums. I’m not obsessed at all 😅
It just sounds like a rehash of "I Miss You", I found it thoroughly underwhelming. The other track was much better
Mark is the nicest guy in music. He's a superstar. Yet a normal dude like me can chill in his discord with other fans and just talk about anything. Amazing person.
I was hoping you would discuss One More Time, I personally really loved the lyrics and I felt that it was the perfect song to support the reunion.
Why do that when you can fast forward through half the video, pause every 3 seconds, and say next to nothing about either song.
personally, the secret ingredient is the 3 of them
the skiba years felt like when Black Sabbath had Dio as a singer, same name but different band
Tom's vocals also brought more of an edge. Marks voice is more clean, but Tom has that nasality, the different pronunciations, and just that bit of a gravelly edge.
I'd go as far to say Tom's voice is basically the benchmark for the genre - every pop punk band that started in the last 20 years at least started off with their lead vocal doing their best Tom impression 😂
@@ChrisMcSweeneyis it really pop punk if your lead singer isnt trying to be their own version of the tom delonge voice
Saying thanks God for giving Mark Cancer because Blink is together again is pretty dark bro. I would choose for him to never have got it in the first place, and if that means the original line up doesn't get back together than so be it. I am excited for the new album like everyone else and the new songs are good but Tom's pain and suffering doesn't make it worth it even if he is better now, just for a new batch of songs and a tour. If anything I am worried about what this upcoming tour will do for his health. Blink are playing 5 shows in my city alone. For someone who just recovered from cancer that is a ridiculous schedule.
Most metal fans seem to miss we fucking love and care about the band members, we dont need crazy solos, break downs etc we are grateful that mark hoppus is alive and making music again, if autotuned, whatever, all matters is mark is alive and making music 😇 it isnt that serious all the time.
Travis did use a double pedal for More Than You Know. There are videos of him recording this song on his Instagram
Who's Zane Lowe... A legendary DJ!
Alexander Zane Reed Lowe (born 7 August 1973) is a New Zealand radio DJ, live DJ, record producer, and television presenter.
After an early career in music creation, production and DJing, he moved to the UK in 1997. He came to prominence through presenting on XFM (Alternative / Rock Music) and MTV Europe (MTV Two), developing a DJ career by opening sets for bands and eventually landing a slot on prime-time radio on BBC Radio 1 from 2003 to 2015, with the trademark 'Zane Lowe's World Record', airing the UK's best and hottest in music.
In 2015, he was head-hunted by Apple to be the Creative Director of their new world-wide music station, Apple Music 1.
I still remember the first time i listened to Blink 182, it was All The Small Things and i really liked it and kept listening to their other songs. By the time i finished First Date, Always, Feeling This i went "holy crap these guys are legit" and i binged all their discography, to me this band always reminds me of high school in the mid 2000s, great times
Travis did his vocal debut in "Down", he's the one saying "This can be the end" and "You did this".
@@ohalistair yep, you’re right.
So not singing
+44 was great, would loved a 2nd album. Love Blink is back together for the Kids ❤
More than you ever know is their best song since the untitled album
Both songs sound mature and damn it feels that way. We all grew up in last 30 years and you just can't turn it back. I agree that it would be great to have some up beat banger on the album, but having all of the songs down is also nice.
IMO Blink-182 - California Deluxe edition 2nd CD is a masterpiece on it own, those songs are superb. Other than that, I prefer TOYPAJ + - era (99-2003)
I dont think Tom, Mark or Travis is the secret ingredient, I think theyre just the best recipe, when you put the 3 together amazing things happen.
exactly, none of them are replaceable
Both of these songs are everything I wanted. The instrumentals are great, they aren’t trying too hard, the songs don’t sound like they have been written by committee, and it sounds like it means something. Just a happy camper. It’s also nice to hear some music That has space to breathe in the mix and isn’t pumped full of vocals like we are all going to get bored instantly
Travis already made his vocal debut at 2003 album. song - The fallen interlude
One More Time is absolutely fan service, and a lot of "self service" too, and that's why it's okay that it's so on the nose. The fact that a lot of people can probably relate to the gist of the lyrics is secondary, I don't think they put out this song with any aspirations of getting new fans. It's a nostalgic piece of music and video that already caused a collective tsunami of happy tears throughout the world. As for the crescendo, Travis singing IS the crescendo, you posers!
Thank you thank you for pointing out Travis singing!!! I’ve been going crazy!!! 😂 I knew it wasn’t mark or Tom and my friends just don’t understand Finn they don’t get it like you do! And when Blink said I wanna duck your grandpa in the ass I also felt that! 😂❤
I am once again going to bat for skiba era blink. Regular blink is good, skiba blink is also good.
Saw Blink 182 when they came to Toronto recently and they sounded SO good live. Was so surpr. What a great show.
More than you ever know is a certified banger. That's a thrash drum beat straight from Kreator's Pleasure to Kill with emo era blink laid over it. The question remains if they added any straight forward Enema of the state era bangers. But this song rips.
more than you know could also be on a box car racer album, and it wouldn't feel weird..and i love it.
Blink wasn't Blink without Tom, Mark, and Travis all together. 'One More Time' is perfect. But I'll always think of Travis as Baron von Tito, the drummer for The Aquabats on The Fury album.
One curious thing is that most songs don’t have a bridge. Some have an instrumental interlude but not an actual bridge with lyrics. The Rock Show is one of the few exceptions.
Some of my closest friends and I haven't hung out in years either, but having a big group chat with all of us is nice to meme around and stay somewhat connected
The melodyne force is strong in this one.
For real. should of put some 808 type percussion
"One More Time" reminds me of Boxcar Racer and the Intro to "More than you ever know" reminds me of Angels and Airwaves, "Everything's Magic"
so this song came out 3 days before a trip back to my home city and was so serendipitous because a month before all of it my friend's dad passed away unexpectedly at 60 in great health. the dad was a church group leader for this group of wonderful degenerates I would spend a night every week with in high school but we hadn't seen each other as a group in like 10 years so we made plans to all hang out and my friend posted this in the group chat we were planning and man it hit home. literally took a death of one of the best people any of us knew to bring us back together and it was like damn why did we wait so long?
Dude. One More Time is the kind of tune that you just need to put on for the first time right after you start your car and just listen before you drive off. This was a love letter to the fans and a reconciliation that will last forever.
Both are very solid songs for sure.
It's not that blink was "better" with Scott. It's that they were actually a skate punk/ melodic hardcore band as opposed to pop with Travis. And the tempo of Scotts drumming made Tom's lead riffs faster and tastier.
There's a couple live shows from 1997 and 1996 here on TH-cam that showcases that era perfectly. Live at Underworld 96 and Montreal 97. If you haven't seen them.
@@pantsnjacket381Thank you, yes I have seen them. Great shows . Also one just has to listen to the opening riff from Wasting Time or the song Enthused to understand the appeal of Blink pre Travis. I think true fans of punk prefer the pre Travis era. I know I was kinda disappointed when Blink turned into a pop band. Imo they were just cooler and edgier pre Travis, more punk. But once on MCA they had to turn pop to go mainstream and appeal to the little girls so I get it $$$. Wish they would've signed to Epitaph instead tho
I think the biggest thing that has made One More Time a big song is because its pretty much what all of us are starting to go through now were 30+ years old and realizing all the friends we lost because of stupid decisions on both sides.
That 2000 Daytona spring break backdrop in one more time video was a cool shout out. I liked that
The only thing that drives me crazy is the Taco Bell ding at the end
90’s/early 2000’s skater vibes…
Nostalgia vibes 💯.. We needed this
Saw them a few weeks back in Europe. They were.. On. Fire. Amazing show and best vocals I've heard them doing live!
More than you know has a dope Neighborhoods vibe and i love it
Dude boxcar racer was fire ..
I took a shot every time I heard "On the nose." Now im dead. 💀 ☠️
One more time seems like a therapeutic song for them imo.
The “but I do like Angels and Airwaves” sent me 😂
I just love watching your content man, you're brutally and hilariously honest😂 please don't ever take a hiatus..
Am I thee only old-school since 96 fan of blink that loves neighborhoods.
I liked it, but you can tell they were all in separate rooms. I really liked the EP Dogs Eating Dogs.
Zane Lowe is quite a prominent DJ and presenter in the UK; he had a prime time radio show on the BBC for a decade. Is he not known in the US?
He has very little exposure here in the US. It's only when he does an interview with someone that you follow closely does anyone here find out about him. I started following a UK artist a few years back & I saw an amazing interview he did & found he'd done a ton of other great interviews with familiar artists. I wish he was better known here.
I knew it wouldn't take long for you to get on this! And man this song just hits the nail on the head!
this is technically not travis “vocal debut” he’s the one who does the “yeah yeah” in obvious and the “this can’t be real” in down
I think Zane is from KROC and was one of the first DJ’s to give Blink a chance
I feel the same as you said being with someone special that used to listen blink 182 together. Thats really hit me hard coz my late brother was always listen blink 182 back in a days when we we're kids till my late brother got married and we living in a separate ways. Early this year that my brother pass away bcoz of cancer and recently blink 182 reunite again then this song came out surprisingly bring me a very nostagic moments in my life.
Hope Tom doesn't turn away from AVA he is so good under that umbrella too
One More Time may not bang, but I have a feeling this would kill to see live. High levels of band and audience catharsis/ reuniting energy bubbling everwhere while this is being played
Tears. Also the tears. So many fans have been thru their own shit over that same time… it’s such a vibe 😮💨
I can't wait to see how they play it live. I MIss You is very similar and the live version of that song is unreal. Travis's live drumming brings so much more to the song.
Great video as always!
However, I would argue that “Edging” is that EOTS-esqe banger. Is it on the level of All The Small Things? No, but how can anything? Edging is unbelievably catchy, simple, and fun.
It took a couple of listens for me to really appreciate it. Give it another listen; see if it changes your mind.
I can't believe anyone would talk shit on this song
It's old school blink mixed with new and the real shit they've been through
I saw a clip of a Lego building livestream Mark was doing I believe right after the news broke about the cancer, and Tom texted Mark telling him to promote the new AVA album.😭 Most Tom thing ever.
More than you know is amazing I've been hitting that on repeat.
By the way, if you like them, that hour-long interview is phenomenal. Find it and enjoy it
It's not an old interview, it was just done as the album was being released
I can’t decide if my favorite is Enema of The State or Take Off Your Pants and Jacket. They both had very similar vibes. I guess you’d just pick between which one had more songs you rock out to.
I feel the same way. Enema had the best raw energy. And Take Off had the best sound production. Imho lol
Zane Lowe has delivered some of the best interviews with musicians I’ve ever watched over the years. For years he’s championed up and coming music in many genres on whichever platform he’s been on. For me I grew up listening to the Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1 and always looked forward to hottest record in the world every day, and loved his “masterpieces” shows where he spent a week each year playing an all time great albums from start to finish, ON RADIO! Guys a legend, America missed out, too bad, but don’t bash him.
Travis' vocals be like:
"This could be the end"
"AAAHHH"
"One more time... I miss you"
Are they better with Tom? Yes. I just don't get all the dismissal of their last two albums. I think they're pretty damn good, and would be really interested in hearing Tom do some of those songs.
Cant wait for a whole album of this, blink is back where they left in 2004❤
Credit is due to Scott for the dude ranch phase. Even before Travis, they were making hits and sounding pretty sick.
But if you're gonna say that the 'Scott lineup' was better, then you must be high.
When I was younger Dude Ranch was my favourite album, I think because it was the first one I owned but growing up Enema of the State has really become the solid go to and listen from start to finish. Self Titled is still good by probably 3rd for me.
We had a lot of bad years of mediocre pop punk with Travis, but I am glad he shut me out by showing off in this songs, cant wait for the new album...
I knew you wouldn't miss covering this
Lol that creative fool tom was throwing tool boxes off the counter for sound fx for ava songs
Bro just listen to the song and watch the video instead of cutting it off every 2 seconds. It’s a great song personal to them but also relatable to their older fans that grew up with them.
How can you think it’s appropriate to say thanks god to give Mark cancer ?? I think that it is very tasteless.
I think the songs are great. It’s a great evolution of the band. We need to remember these guys aren’t in their early 20s anymore. We aren’t gonna get an Enema of the State pt 2, and I’m not mad about it at all. This is the type of evolution I’d want. As someone who is a hardcore blink fan from 12 yrs old, I really like what I’m hearing so far and looking forward to the album. I wasn’t a fan of any of the stuff really after the self titled album (a side from a few songs on California, Nine was an awful album imo). I think this is shaping up to be one of their best albums yet (could be the best)
I'm a Tom fan for sure. His style has always just connected with me.
I was looking forward to this video since Yesterday ❤️🤘
I saw them in Nashville a few months ago and I thought they sounded great.
Ome more time is one on the most serious songs they have ever made 😢
While there were some great songs, I wasn't absolutely crazy about Skiba era blink, but I love that it introduced me to Matt Skiba. Alkaline Trio and his solo work are amazing. Blink without Tom just isn't Blink, nothing Matt or anyone else could do to change that.
That’s a great take. I appreciate you not just mindlessly bashing him. You’re right in the fact that no one would’ve been satisfied the way the OG 3 do.
Fr Alkaline trio is way underrated. Most of their stuff is better than most of blinks
I thought the music video concept was really cool. The lyrics felt so genuine too for this song. I just hope they only make nostaligia-based songs on the new album and that there's some high energy songs too.
2:47 “blink without tom is not blink”
💯
Zane Lowe was big in Europe in the mid 00's, he even had his own show in MTV2, so that's probably why a band which was big back then would go and get him
I cried when I heard about mark having cancer. I was like No! Please don’t take him. I love him. ❤
Loved this song so much.
attacked at that hatebreed terror and death threat comment sheesh finn coming for the throat
