    Took my brand new Battle II 5000 for a spin yesterday for the very first time and I hooked a 20lb yellowtail using a Ugly Stik X2 (medium hard) rod th-cam.com/users/postUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . This combo was recommended on some website and it did not disappoint me. The reel is smooth, the drag click is pretty cool cause i think it adds to the excitement of fighting the fish, personally the drag is my favorite part. I use braid and 300 yards will fill the entire spool. This combo is my main setup from now on although I have to disclose I am new to fishing.

    Love the video.
    I have been using Livescope for about 9 months and can fully agree with the learning curve to be able to interpret what you are seeing on screen. Before Livescope my Crappie technique was to tie up to a tree top and drop minnows and hope there were fish swimming around below me waiting for my bait. Since Livescope I exclusively "sight" fish for the larger crappie.
    The biggest surprise to me has been how much more structure and cover there is underwater that old school fishermen don't know about.
    Even if there is a school of hundreds of crappie in front of me, I am focusing on catching the largest 3 or 4 fish in the school.
    Catching the larger fish can be tough cause the smaller fish are so eager to come out of nowhere to grab the bait while the bigger fish seem to wait for a free meal to swim by inches away from their mouth.
    Lastly, I am much happier to release 99% of the fish since I know that I can reliably catch plenty of Crappie any time I feel like cleaning a mess to eat.

      Bruce....I'm doing my research and trying to figure out which system I want to go with and this livescope seems to be the one I'm liking the most....so far. Since you're 9 months in on yours do you like your decision? It's a lot of money and I'm trying to make the best choice and from your comment it looks like your happy with yours? Oh...and by the way, my technique is the same as yours....tie up and drop straight down. LOL......Tight lines brother!!!!

    I’m enjoying the ten foot hyper tense with a bobber this early spring. Fishing pad stems in three foot, about eighteen inches deep. The long rod helps me get them up on the surface pretty quickly.

    Got me the Garmin livescope recently and have been bass fishing but yet tried crappie. I can’t wait to try crappie because it has paid off big time for bass. According to what I am seeing and hearing it is killer for crappie. So excited!

    I wonder why he doesn't use a loop knot to tie the jighead on?

    • @davidharris4030
      @davidharris4030 ปีที่แล้ว

      In a section of the video he shows the knot he ties to his jig. His reasoning was the knot he uses makes his jig sit more horizontal in the water column making it look more natural.

    • @marshalllaw4116
      @marshalllaw4116 ปีที่แล้ว

      I tie a loop knot, and my jig runs level when it's vertically jigged.
      I pour collarless jig heads, which is a contributing factor in obtaining a level presentation. If you only have jig heads with lead collars, then you can snip off the collar with a pair on Toenail clippers.
      Here's a link showing how a jig head looks in water when it's tied with a loop knot.

      I don’t want to give you a bad answer so I would ask on there.

    Why do the fish on the livescope look like they are vertical rather than horizontal?

    • @TheDirectionTV
      @TheDirectionTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure but I believe it’s how they are positioned. I’ll ask and see if I can answer that better. I went and looked at what you are asking and I see what your saying. I noticed that when they came at bait they seemed to level out so it makes me think that’s how they are positioned. ?

    Here in the north, fish don't reproduce like they do in the southern states. And they take longer to grow to maturity. Being a fish doesn't grow much during the winter or colder months. So what do you think is going to happen when most people have live scope. Do you think fishing is going to get better for everyone. Until what happens? People are going to have to start thinking about restocking fees. Meaning fees for restocking fish, if people are still going to want to go fishing in the future. A lot of people, that go fishing spend 80,000 thousand dollars or more on a boat, and possibly another 70,000 thousand dollars for a truck to pull the boat, and then thousands of dollars on the fishing electronics they have on the boat. But what are people willing to spend, to ensure that there will be fish to catch in the future. Surely the DNR doesn't have a clue. In my area around the Green bay WI. General area. We already have lakes that are fished out. And I won't even waste my time going to those lakes. And other lakes the fish population is pretty low. In my area if people find out that there are fish biting somewhere. And word of mouth gets out. People come and fish and keep everything until they can't catch anything anymore. So now what?

    • @Nazman06
      @Nazman06 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree. The limit needs to be reduced. Besides the average crappie angler there are the guides that catch thousands

    What a good sales video for this but this is not fishing. Typical bass fishermen want everything to be easy. I call bass fisherman rich men that have no skill how to catch fish,,, buy expensive equipment to do all the work for them . While i am ranting and raving ,,, why do bass fishermen run 80 mph on the water. The fish will be there when you ride 30 mpg. You guys are so dangerous to all the other people on the water.

    • @slabbusterrtr7690
      @slabbusterrtr7690 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1
