    I'm running the 33 milestar Patagonia Mt tires in Alaska and I'm totally blown away by how well they work year round. Taken them on the beach, mud and into the mountains and of course driven on ice or snow without issues. I run at 38 psi for pavement with next to no visible wear over a year. The key to running these is to not use them for high mileage commuting and drive sensible upon take offs from a stop. 65mph is by far the fastest I've driven on some trips to Homer but 55mph has always been an appropriate speed for all Mt tires I've used over the years. If you have white letters the manufacturer recommends to install the white letters in because the black walls are thicker. Hope this helps someone and I have zero complaints about these budget tires.

      I've got the 35/12.50r20's on a '16 Z71. I've been running 40 to 42 psi for about 15k miles now and I've got more than half the tread left. I would say 60% left. It does ride rougher than if I aired down to 35psi. Off-road I drop to 20 to 25 psi and it does excellent. I will definitely be buying these again.
      Oh and I have the black label edition. Tread seems to be wearing slightly more in the center than the outside but I believe that's to be expected from a domed style mud tire. I usually run 70 to 75mph on the freeway. But these have hit 115 ish for a somewhat extended amount of time. Maybe 2 or 3 miles continuous at 115. Define been well over 80 for half hour at a time. They seem to do great. I had the americus rugged m/t 33x12.5 before these. They did great off-road but shit on road. Couldn't keep them balanced to save my life. Wheel shake from 60 mph to 85mph. It sucked.

    I'm running the Milestar Patagonias (original, not the improved MT-02) and have 14K on them. Milestar officially says to run them at the air pressure listed in your Jeep's door jam. On my '13 JKU that's 35 PSI. Running at 38 PSI on my Jeep would be too much pressure according to both Jeep & Milestar. I have been running them at 35-36 PSI on the road. Tread noise is still quiet, and looks like it will last over 40K. In 14K I have used less than 1/3 of the tread. When I bought them I was hoping for 30-35k. The rubber is soft with very good grip. I have done about 20 trails and notice I always seem to have better grip than other Jeeps who spin their tires while I crawl it (without lockers).
    The only area I haven't been impressed with is occasionally when engine oil is on a wet road. It will not stop as well as all-terrain tires in that condition, but I am aware of it and drive accordingly.
    I have had to do a couple emergency stops on the road on dry roads (thanks to stupid drivers) and with my upgraded brakes I have been extremely impressed with how well it stopped - about 20+ feet shorter than I expected. My next set will probably be the new Patagonia MT-02.
    There are 2 keys to making these tires last. 1) Run them at 35 PSI. 2) Because the rubber is so soft, they need to be rotated every 3500 miles.
    Additionally, it helps to have a properly aligned suspension. All mud terrain tires needed to be rotated more often than all-terrain tires. While everyone's experience can be different, with mud terrains, it often comes down to how you take care of - or don't take care of - your tires and your suspension/alignment. If more frequent tire rotations aren't something you can handle (along with maintaining correct tire pressure) this may not be your tire. Some mud terrains that are harder rubber can be rotated every 5000 miles.

    I have 33” Patagonias on my TJ. Run them about 32 psi on the road and about 15 psi off road (no bead locks) They have probably 40k miles on them (bought them in January 2019) Aside from some goofy wear patterns because I’m lazy when I comes to rotating them, and probably the low psi on road, I have zero complaints. They are phenomenal off road.

    If a tire is not domed and if it’s new do a chalk test to get proper PSI for your rigs weight and Garrix characteristics. My stock Jeep came with Firestone destination MT and from dealer it was 40 PSI. I started having cupping and feathering boys at local 4x4 shop set my tires to 36 PSI it’s not as rough on road and after two rotations ( or 1200 miles) there back to flat and not so noisy! Thank for video on the tires keep it up!

    I am running the 37's in a D load range. Been running 38 psi since day one. I do a lot of daily driving and sitting close to 15k miles. I do keep them inflated as recommended. I also rotate them ever five thousand miles or so with a fifth wheel rotation. So far they have been great. Now I have not experienced a rough ride. I do have really nice shocks and springs though. Running metal cloak springs and fox performance by BDS suspension for shocks.

    • @4XTRAIL
      @4XTRAIL  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome! That’s a good point on more supple suspension offsetting the harshness of the higher psi.

    Just turned 25k on my 35" pats ... I run them right around 32-34 psi (10-15 offroad). I think they have been great tires so far on my JT... they are now starting to gradually get louder, but that is normal for any tire as it wears. I did notice the snow performance dropped off at approx. the 20 k mark. Wanting to get one more winter out of them, so I siped them and that made a huge difference. They've been fantastic off road.

    I had a set of brand new Patagonia AT R's on my Silverado Z71 that my dealership threw on. Almost spun out on the highway in snow with them. Yea I was in 2WD and not 4WD. Yet with a set of Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S I could go on snowy roads in 2WD that I couldn't with the Craptagonia's. Both times I had weight in the bed of the truck. Plus the Craptagonia's where loud on the highway. Well I had replace the AT3's (due to wear) and since the AT3's are discontinued unfortunately. Two co-workers suggested the Nitto Terra Grappler G2. We will see how they due when winter hits.

    I'm currently running the ProComp MT on my 2015 Rubicon. I've been running them at 36psi on the highway because they also ride much smoother with less direct pressure on the side lugs. There's a lot less lug vibration and "MT howl" when aired up.
    I've run the Patagonia MT on two different vehicles. My only complaints are:
    1. I think they could be slightly improved for mud
    2. because they are a softer tread compound, they don't last as long as similar MTs.
    Other than that, for me they have been a great tire (regardless of price) for offroading and I think they're very comfortable and quiet on-road when properly inflated.

I’ve got 295 70 17s on my gladiator and about to hit 20k and run mines at 32psi as well just for the softer ride but I’ve noticed they have gotten a lot louder on the road. Even my wife notices how loud they are lol. And also I feel like they don’t have the best traction in the rain as I live in florida and we always have some rain coming down. Considering selling them and getting into some ridge grapplers.

    I've been loving my 37×12.50R17 Nitto Trail Grapplers. They're a bit heavy, especially with beadlocks (136 Lbs). Ive found that they run and wear the best around 30-32 PSI. Having a manual in my '15 Rubicon Hardrock 2-door, I regeard down to 5.13 and they turn and stop just fine. I've put about 25k miles on them and still have about 13/32 of tread left. (New tread is 21/32.... I think) I rotate all 5 of them super often at only every 2,500 miles. At about 20k mile they did make a bit more noise, but they're still not bad at all and are wearing perfectly. I'm thinking about tying the yokohama's. How do you like them so far?

    • @4XTRAIL
      @4XTRAIL  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I hear nothing but good things about the Trail Grapplers! Wish they weren’t so heavy… So far the Yokohamas are good. They had a slight hum on road from the get go so we’ll see how they wear in over time. They’re performing well out here in the Anza-Borrego sand this weekend and have been good on the rocks as well.

      They are doing well, around 10k miles so far and wear is pretty even. They’ve had a slight hum since new and it has increased a little but not overpowering. They aren’t quite as sticky on the rocks as the Patagonias but I think the useable tread life will be greater.

    I have had those same tires (including size) for around 12,000 miles. I can already see the odd wear patterns you talked about. Some roads these ride like a dream, while others they seem to ride odd. Off-road, they have been amazing. I really like the looks but they are a turn-off for many people. The price to weight to performance ratio has been solid but I will look for something else when it's time to change. I need more consistency and a better ride on-road.

      @@4XTRAIL I'm guessing probably so. I ran around 30 most of the time then saw where these need higher PSI and the "chalk" test wasn't correct on these tires so run about 35-36 now. Hard to say for sure as these do seem to wear quicker than normal but that's probably part of what makes them so good offroad. Not sure what I'll go with next but I like what you've changed to. I don't offroad as much as I thought I would but I still want either a MT or a more aggressive trail/AT tire.

    Do a chalk test, test multiple PSI and that will tell you what you need. Everyone has a different set-up that brings differences in weights and alignments. That’s why there’s always a horror story on tire wear for Jeeps, even on Nittos which I’ve found to be more forgiving.

    I have 35 x12.50 on a 16 x 10 inch rim.truck is a 2008 2500 hd. 4.56 gears with front and rear lockers. Tires are absolute monsters off road and sticky-icky on the rocks as well.. I don't run bead locks and have had them down to 20 p.s.i. off road. Never had an issue. But with the softer stickier tire your gonna get less mileage from alot of highway driving. Especially if you don't rotate every 5k... Was running them at 35 to 36 on road...I love them ive noticed alot of off road recovery vehicles run 38 in milestar pats.... I'd buy again....

      Thanks for the comment! Decided to try another set on my JT build in a 40x13.5r17 so hoping to hit the correct PSI and get more mileage out of this set! 🤞🏼

    Hey Caleb, met your father at Pima Canyon TH at SMP a few months back. He was mtb there and had your jeep. I have a 12 jku Rubicon. Would love to catch up and 4x4 with you. I live in the east valley in Gilbert. Take care brother...

    I am running the 35” Patagonia MT-02’s on my TJ on 15 inch wheels. I have found that 28 PSI still keeps the edges off the road but feels comfortable and handles the wet well.

      Great info. I think they have done some nice improvements to the 02s.

    38x13.50r17 patagonias on my jkur. 35 psi. 47k miles on them. At the end of their life. Still one of the quietest mt tires I've ever run. Will be replacing these with the 38x13.50r17 mt/02 patagonias this weekend.

      Great to hear! Decided to run them in 40x13.5r17 on my JT. Will try to hit the PSI mark with the set and hopefully get your 47k miles out of them!

      @@4XTRAIL did you get the mt-02 version? Possibly longer wear from them as they are a new rubber compound. Replacing mine with the 02s and will be putting a set of them on my wife's jtr as well.

    Running the Pats 38s. I’m at 38-39 psi. It’s not a daily driver so don’t really mind the rougher ride. Really solid Offroad. They are wearing great so far. Only a few thousand miles on them though.

    Thank you for the video. You bring up some good points. I also have the same Yokohama’s and really like them. I did the chalk test and 25 psi seemed to be a good pressure to go with. To date I haven’t seen any wear issues but I don’t have a lot of miles on the tires yet. Can you advise what pressure you are running?

    • @4XTRAIL
      @4XTRAIL  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m still figuring out the best PSI too. Currently running 30 and they seem to like that pressure okay. Also don’t have many miles on mine yet (around 5k) and need to do another chalk test to see if I can go any lower. Thanks for the info!

    I run the 37x12.5x17 Cooper STT Pros and love them. I run them at 28 PSI around town and anywhere from 12-20 PSI off road depending on the trail. I will either do these again or try the Nitto Trail Grapplers when it is time to change them out.
    I second the question about merch. You have a cool logo. Sell shirts, hoodies, hats and stickers?

      Heard really good things about the Coopers. That’s good info on PSI too, I may be running my Yokohamas too high on road @ 34… and no merch yet! Hopefully soon. TH-cam requires more subscribers to sell from what I understand.
