- With the help of our friends at JockeyCam, here's the view that Danny Mullins had as he tackled the world's most famous fences aboard Meetingofthewaters in the 2024 Randox Grand National.
Coming to the final fence, he's right in with a chance - but the race didn't go without some drama on the way to that point as you will see!

What an amazing video and insight into how the race was ran and unfolded. I had not realised that the winner I am Maximus had saved so many lengths holding the inside all the way. Great run too from Meetingofthewaters the host to camera for this film of the race. The best result too that all came home safe. Thank you for this unique film perspective of the race it is very special.
Wow! It’s incredible to see the race from a jockeys point of view. Well done everyone!
Tough game
A completely different perspective on the length of that race.. Seems to go on forever.. I was exhausted .. god knows what the jockeys are feeling at the end of it.. Many thanks for that. :>)
A long way to run! Thank you!
I have read many comments about this year being such a boring race. Personally I am ecstatic that all the horses and jockeys came back safely after " punters " have moaned that the race is too easy now after too many modifications. With only 34 horses running this year, I think the LACK of falls confirms that 40 runners is too many.
The lowest fence on the course is still 4f 6in high, Beechers is 4ft 10in high with a landing side 10in lower.....the highest fence, the chair is 5ft 2in high with a 5ft ditch on the take off side.....still a formidable fence with 34 horses rushing to it at speed and not to forget it is also the narrowest fence on the course. The horses still have to run 4 miles and 3 1/2 furlongs (only 90 yards shorter distance than before) with a jockey on their back AND they are handicapped with "dead" weight , over 30 fences of at least 4ft 10in in height, I wonder how many of the punters would be able to achieve this.
Although some of the fences have been modified by inches........you could now argue that with so many finishing this year.....it is not so much a race of chance .........but a race of stamina and exceptional jumping ability !
… what dreams are made of. Such a thrilling ride, respect and honour to the horses and team, thank you and this video is ace.
Brilliant Brave Horses and Jockeys😮
Brilliant video! I'm not big into racing but really enjoyed it from this perspective
That was awesome. It's still a fantastic race with the safety amendments. Great to see all the horses and jockeys come home safely. Great close up of David Maxwell pipping Danny for 6th place. Thanks for posting. Will probably watch this several times.
This Can Be A Great Experience Being On The Back Of A Great Horse!!❤😊!!
MeetingOfTheWaters was my pick with Capodanno. Just didn't get into the race really.
Awesome view of the race this
Fantastic Thanks
Going at such a pace xx
This is awesome
This is amazing insight into how the jockey sees the race, but not easy for me when I'm 6pints deep
My first National was Red Rum´s in 1973 and I cannot ever remember a race with no fallers. The National is a totally different race nowadays, with some of these fences resembling brush hurdles. I´m pretty sure the days of 100-1 shock winners is over.
Since 1946 there has only been 3 100/1 shots the last being monmome in 2009 since then we had a 66/1 50/1 33/1 do agree it’s not the same race it was
Well mahler mission fell, that was him in front at the line
@@patrickfarrell5092no the jockey fell!! No horse fell in the race … I repeat NO HORSES FELL IN THE RACE!!!!!! Jesus Christ read the comment above
It's disgusting they keep pandering to the freaks let's be honest absolute joke. Next year they'll be jumping show jump fences ffs. And calling it a "major success" when it's anything but,,.. a mess and a joke.
There were 4 unseats which basically means the jockey fell off but the horse didn't actually fall. Probably stumbled and unbalanced the jockey who couldn't stay on. But you are absolutely correct, no horses actually fell
Great video! Very cool to see the jockey's perspective on this. Well, done! Felt like i was part of the race!
Amazing…!
Definitely not the hurley burley national I remember. Bit of a cross country hurdle race nowadays however it was great to watch from the jockeys view.
Fantastic, we need to start a on line petition BRING BACK GI JOCKEY. Why we work to do that ill lose 25 stone to get to my racing weight.
I had i am maximus 😊
Me too
Me too . Purely on the basis I once had a fantastic skewbald cob called Max. It was only afterwards that I realised what a class horse the winner was as he was sired by a Derby winner.
@@melaniepitt4295I was hoping there'd be more "Are you not entertained?!" memes after the race 😆
I really hope if he runs next year, the crowd starts chanting "MAXIMUS!! MAXIMUS!!"
Must take a lot of training ❤
Didn’t stay … had every chance turning for home … didn’t quite have the turn of foot to pick up .. maybe a bit better ground he would have been closer …
The CGI is missing all the turf and muck that gets flicked up, all the same 3/10 nice clip
Its not a proper chase anymore, I used to love it but now the eider at Newcastle, The Midlands national and the Sussex national at Plumpton are far more testing.
Tbe national fences are a joke as for the water jump!
welsh g.n. is a slog coming up the hill to the finish line
Was like the County Hurdle
Just an endurance race with no jumping tests.
It's a test of being able to jump consistently well over a 4 and a quarter mile race. It's not a stroll in the park.
Alot of arses.
Title should say incredible view of just another horse race ... The Grand National is dead ... Red Rum would not even know this race anymore its such a joke, in another 10 to 15 years it will be a 2 mile hurdle with a max field of 12
Yes your right
Yawn yawn. Do you realise the jumps were also modified in the 1950s? What red rum jumped was easier than anything that won the national thirty years earlier. Does that Jmean his wins are devalued to the non stop moaners of the reformed race? I don't think so.
I'm pleased to see this less taxing event nowadays and the horses safety is paramount. It's still a tough task for any horse and it annoys me when I hear all the armchair jockeys whinging about how supposedly easy the current event is.
@@trevorwills3356Well said Trevor 👏. Perhaps if they actually rode a horse they would realise how tough it is out there.
@@Rebeljustforkicks The point is it’s easier than years ago you don’t have to be armchair jockey to understand that . Horses get killed almost every week on the track it’s the nature of the game
That looks like so much fun, it would be an amazing experience just to do that, great video could even be used with 3d glasses
Absolute state of those fences and they want you to think its the race of old and actually call it a success ffs. You can drop the "grand" out of its name now,, its almost a normal handicap chase its utterly embarrassing.
All the TV lot and racing media have been gagged from giving their honest opinion it would seem.
I wonder why. ?
@@MarkusManchester-sm8wc it's literally embarrassing at this point mate. My grandad before he passed would say they've ruined the race and this was around 2014. He'd have laughed at the state of this years renewal,, it's gotten to the point where they'll be forcing show jumping fences in the future.
what is even wrong with the fences anyways? If the horses are still running and jumping them it kinda means they enjoy it.
tops of the fences level with the running rail, so about 4ft. loosely dressed with fir over a stiffer plastic core - so really 3'6" - the same as a hurdle!
