Yes. Very good for beginners and even for those that are experienced. Sometimes we need a baby step refresher to get back on track when we have let our quiet time go. Sometimes distractions keep us from quiet time and we need something like this to help us get back on track and start again. Also, I can certainly tell that you are an image consultant because the whole time I was thinking "wow! I love how she put together her top with the vest and scarf. It looks great". Thanks for the video. Very inspiring!
I have been away from the Lord for about 15 years now. New Year's day I woke up. Slowly God is reeling me back in. Today I have been alone and no distractions. I looked up devotions and your channel came up! I am looking for to your videos. Thanks. Rhonda
Hi Rhonda! Sorry for the delay in responding - your comment got buried in the pile! But I am SO glad you found the channel! Make sure to check out my 21-day devotional series at www.FitnessAndTheFather.com. It's free and WONDERFUL!
I have been struggling with studying God's word and I think this may help! I get distracted sooo easily and just picking on or two verses might help. Thanks for the video!
Start with proverbs and read one chapter every day. I loved how Whitney uses the soap method. I also follow Max lucado’s study Bible. It’s my favorite very easy to read and it has lessons on the side of the page. I’ve been able to do some videos following this Bible... and it’s been an amazing journey. Good luck!!!
Thank you so much for this! For a while, I haven't been putting God first in my life to a point where I feel spiritually empty. I've been trying to get back into having quiet time with Jesus, but didn't really know how. I've heard of this method before, but you've explained it so well. I'm excited to start the journey of seeking God again!
Thank you for this video! I have decided to include having a devotion with God to my daily routine and your video was really informative in helping me start out. Please pray for me that my relationship with God and living my life as a Christian will continue to grow. God bless
i am an outreach pastor, artist, father, husband etc, and sadly i find that sometimes i get so caught up in doing for the Lord,i forget to be WITH the Lord. I am a man, but i ran across this and just wanted to thank you for this in depth advice for devotional time! I'm excited about beginning again!
Thank you for such a awesome quiet time with the Lord! It help me in such a great way to knowing that God is with me I'm not alone and to go forth with the calling that God has place on my Life. with much Love and thanksgiving let's continue to pray for one another.
I love this method a lot because when people read the Bible it’s easy to drift through it and not truly remember what you read. So being able to do this helps people digest what they read and apply it to their lives so that they can use it throughout the day.
Wow I am so thankful I came across this video for myself & for you ! God is still using you & your video to teach people like myself how to have quiet time with god ! I wrote down everything you said & am looking forward to my daily quiet time with the lord . Especially now with everything going on in the world . Thank you for using this platform to touch the life’s of other brothers & sisters in Christ & to many others who I pray will watch & learn just as I have . Thank you 🙏🏼
Jerilynn, thank you so much for leaving this kind message for me ❤️ It’s so interesting to look back and see the tens of thousands of people who’ve learned a new way of spending time with Jesus through this video. I hope you’ll stick around the channel and I’m excited for your quiet times this week, too!! Blessings!! 💕💕
Thank you, it is a great way to start. I starting doing "One On One With God" afew years ago and was needing a new Bible Study plan. I will look into Fitnessand the Father.
Thank you so much! I feel God brought me to your page, because I have been struggling with this and many other things. I will be looking up your page.God Bless you.
Whitney, thank you so much for this video. I am in my first Bible study and want to start having a closer relationship with with God, but I wasn't sure how to do a daily devotion that included reading and studying the Bible and mediating on the Word. This was so helpful in showing me how to start in a way that was encouraging and not condescending. I've subscribed to your channel and look forward to watching more of your videos.
Welcome to the channel, Amanda!! I hope that you enjoy the videos and I'm so glad you shared your story with me! :) I'll be praying for you that the Lord will deepen His relationship with you and give you so much love!!
I am SO glad that I tuned in to this video. It has been such a Blessing. Thank you Whitney Meade for allowing God to use you in such a Mighty way to give guidance in such a direct and simple way. I will look at this video S.O.A.P again until it's birth in my spirit.
I am worried about how I am always 'busy' running everywhere when I have Jesus waiting for me. I NEVER THIS AND I AM NOT A NEW CHRISTIAN, I AM CHASING WORLDLY THINGS BEFORE GOD. Thank you for this.
Thank you for your time doing this video, and showing how to have quiet time with God. I try to have quiet time, but I get distracted very easily, how do you overcome this.
Hi Whitney. I came across your video and you are the first to show how they do the S.O.A.P. method with real scripture and application. do you journal, if so could you post something.
I have been looking for a channel like this for so long! I have already been doing devotions most of my life and Im still learning. So this was still very helpful. Thank you Whitney ❤ new subscriber.
Thank you! You are so easy to listen to and I love your S.O.A.P method. I have a devotional channel myself and I may have to consider teaching something like this too. You are great! Bless you, Whitney :-)
Hi Whitney, Thank you for this tutorial! I had heard about the soap method and was interested in it. Your tutorial has made me so excited about spending time in the word and with Him.
Thank you for leaving a comment Evan!! I'm excited for you to have a quiet time using the SOAP method and I hope that you experience the Lord in a new, fresh way!! XOXO - Whitney
Wow😍thank you for this and i thank Jesus that you share this to us and i know jesus will not give you a hard problem that you can't solve😘😘 thank you!!
Hi Joel! It all depends on what you'd like to do. Sometimes, I like to write out my prayers - and sometimes, I just like to speak it out loud or in my heart! Whatever your preference -- there's no right or wrong answer!
Hello. I’m a 36 year old mother of three who until VERY recently thought of myself as very much an atheist. Then my eight year old told me she believes in God and Jesus and wants to know more. So as I️ was doing research I️ started pondering and wondering if maybe I’m wrong, or at the very least having doubts. My question is, what exactly do you mean by God speaks through you, or God talks to you and shows you the way? This is something I’ve struggled to understand. I️ know there isn’t any literal thing happening. Do you just have thoughts, and explain that as God talking to you? I️ have trouble understanding ideas that are not concrete. Thank you.
+j bru hey!! I'm so happy you asked this question, because it's a question even people who do believe in God and Jesus ask! So when God "speaks" to me, He will do it in a few different ways. First is through reading the Bible. I'll read something and feel a little emotional tug on my heart, and then I'll explore what I read in my journal. (I have a really cool video on Bible journaling that you should watch, bc I talk more about "hearing" from God in the video!) The second way I hear from God is through other people who believe in Him. Sometimes, I'll pray about something and then later that day, someone will encourage me on the EXACT subject I prayed about that morning! And finally, I hear from God in my prayer time. If you can imagine, it's like watching a movie on the screen of your mind. Sometimes it's through pictures, or like I'm watching a video. Other times, it's just a knowing that I have deep inside during my prayer time about what He's sharing with me. This is the BEST part about believing in God - that He wants to have a personal relationship with you where you can actually communicate with Him! I know it's difficult when it's not concrete, but there's a mystery to it all because it's a supernatural experience. If you want to learn more and explore why you're maybe questioning your beliefs (or doubting!), there's a great book called "The Case For Christ" by Lee Strobel that will give you lots of really great concrete facts. And I'm always here for you! You can reach out anytime!!
Whitney Meade thank you so much. That was a thoughtful answer! We bought my daughter a Bible yesterday, so her and I are going to look at it today. Do you pray out loud? Do you just think it?
I do both! Mostly in my mind. But if I'm really fired up and mad, or hurting and sad, I pray out loud. And that's awesome about the Bible! What version did you get? NIV? King James? Children's Bible? Look on the spine of the book - it should tell you, or on the inside cover. Just asking because some of the translations can be SUPER hard to read because they're in Old English, and I just want to make sure you've got one with a modern translation :) Also -- if you're interested, I do have a free video series at www.fitnessandthefather.com that you might enjoy. I talk more about this kind of stuff and keeping your mind, body, and spirit healthy!
That's a really great question Mandy! The Psalms are a fantastic place to start; also, I love reading the Gospels - Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. But I do also just flip open my Bible sometimes and just start reading! The key to doing that, though, is to make sure you know the context of where you're reading. If you open it to the Old Testament and find yourself reading about a battle, or a family history list, dive in a little deeper and find out what exactly you're reading about! I love devotional books too. One of my favorites is "Jesus Calling" by Sarah Young!
It's been said many times, but thank you for this video. I've been a Christian for 46 years and have never heard it explained in such a clear and understandable way. God bless you.
Fantastic method! Great video and love your heart! Keep making great Christian videos on here! I love your emphasis on observations and application! I subscribe! Come check us out if you have free time!
Listen carefully HolySpirit is speaking to you now. I Am (AlmightyJesus) only the Holy Father, HolySon and Holy Spirit in the Trinity mode forever Amen I Am the I Am (AlmightyJesus), the true everlasting God, who created all heavens and earth. I myself sent my HolySpirit down to the earth in Virgin mother Mary womb, which latter became human flesh and called as kingChrist, who lived holy unsinful life, revealed about Myself, about My promises, My expectations from human beings, My Wrath against disobedience, unholy & unrighteousness people and finally sacrificed his life in the Holy cross to save mankind from all the worldly sins. Be wise and select only genuine righteousness people in the earth and preach the Gospel as much as you can till the last breath of your life. Do not worry you are special to Me and I will reward you greatly in the heaven My dear precious child.
I mean no disrespect, but the thumbnail image for this video is hilarious. I laughed out loud seeing a video about "quiet time" with a thumbnail image on my tiny phone display that looks like a roll of duct tape.

Hi..do i have to write my Prayer part on my notebook or just speak it out to God?
Hi Joel! It all depends on what you'd like to do. Sometimes, I like to write out my prayers - and sometimes, I just like to speak it out loud or in my heart! Whatever your preference -- there's no right or wrong answer!
can I have some advice as to what scripture to choose?
This is my question as well.
That's a great question Cierra! I'm going to be rolling out a video in a couple of weeks on how to choose scripture! xo
