    OMG, I get it! I've attempted voice training before and fell at the hurdle of resonance, never understood it. Somehow visualising my voice attacking things works. I feel like I could rob a bank armed with my girl voice, "put the gender in the bag and noone gets hurt". Thank yooooooouuuuuu

    • @fairyprincesslucy
      @fairyprincesslucy  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +55

      So happy to hear! The forwardness of the voice is so important but I've never seen a TH-cam tutorial mention it??? So I'm glad I could help! Stay hydrated and know you are valid!!!

    • @LeelooMinai
      @LeelooMinai 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@fairyprincesslucyMaybe that's because "forwardness" is non-sensical. I don't think you even understand what resonance means - you seem to be conflating it with vocal weight in your video, which is a completely different component to the voice.
      When it comes to voice, people assess the androgenization and maturity (child?/female?/male?) by the balance of two key elements closely linked to how puberty affects the anatomy: vocal size and vocal weight.
      Vocal weight is about the size of the vocal tract, while vocal weight is about how vocal folds come together when vibrating (more substantially, in a heavy way, or less sustantially, with a light weight perceptually.)
      "resonance" is a broad umbrella term for filtering characteristics of the vocal tract, dictated by its shape: any change in shape, even changing a vowel, or becoming nasal, and so on is a change of resonance. It makes far more sense to talk about vocal size instead, because that's what actually matters for gendering purposes, and that's what good teachers do nowadays. So, when you talk about your voice "vibrating from your head" (another non-sensical idea...,) you probably try to describe weight changes, which has nothing to do with resonance...
      Well, in the end, your video is a mess, but people won't know better, so *sigh*: somehow your video got popular, people watch it and then ask about it in voice training circles and they have to be explained how things work in reality... it's a lot of extra work. Could you not do some basic research before trying to teach people? How hard is it to spend 10 minutes verifying basic things like that? Instead, here we are, 8k people at least that will be confused for who knows how much long...

    • @fairyprincesslucy
      @fairyprincesslucy  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +19

      @@LeelooMinai the forwardness thing is what I was taught and helped me get my voice. I'll keep learning more of course but this is the only method that made sense to me with resonance. Other resources and tutorials I could personally never get a grasp of. Making the voice feel 'forward' just helps visualise it and makes practice easier. I'm confident in what i make but I'm still learning at the end of the day :)

    • @LeelooMinai
      @LeelooMinai 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@fairyprincesslucy This is likely a bleed from the singing world, and there's a chaos and confusion going there by default (hardly anyone agrees with anyone alse there and a lot of nebulous, subjective terms are being used.) I think it's better to avoid imagining things about voice production and sticking to what is real: imaginary things like that will work for some people, not for others, and confuse many, especially if they stop for a second and will want to actually reason about this in a rational way. The reality is that the voice is produced in once place, between the vocal folds, and then all the harmonics that are spawned there are filtered by the vocal tract shape, acting like an equalizer, so, resonance is just vocal tract shape changes, but it's only half of the story: the actual harmonic production happens between the vocal folds, and that's discernible as vocal weight.
      The size/weight model (developed by Clover and Z from TransVoiceLessons) is both conneted to the reality/anatomy and relatively simple to understand - if not seen, yet, I would recommend you search for "An organized collection of Selene Da Silva's clips" and listen to key clips in the Size/Weight/Fullness sections: it should explain a lot about what is really going on. Also, you could join TransVoice discord server (Selene is there too,) and talk about this.

      @@LeelooMinaisry to be blunt: your critique is full of shit.
      the whole premise of her video is to have fun with the process and make it easy to understand for ppl that are bad with the arbitrary terms you guys use for your voice lessons.
      you're all acting like you've standardized everything, have specific and unshakeable terminology, while in the end it all comes back down to "how is the individual processing their voice?"
      be a bit more humble please and learn to accept that different ppl process the same things differently.
      no matter how much work you put into your understanding of a topic, someone will understand the same thing in a different way.
      lets be open about different approaches please and stop making a creator insecure that is finally able to teach me smt, after 4 years of transition without voice progress.
      her video is helping both me and my fiancee improving.

    for anyone struggling with feeling vibrations in lips, just close jaw too so teeth are bareley not touching (like reaally close but not closed) and when you vibrate try to raise to head you should start feeling that teeth are shaking up and down
    also try to imagine going with car on dirt road or gravel road and try to reach same feeling in head
    also download voice tools

    I hate the fact that this was the key exercise that i kept forgetting. Its like "so youve figured out how to lift your larynx, but have your tried making your lips buzz?" Which in my cause has been, "no... no I haven't, why?" Tries it, works instantly for a brief moment. "Oh what the f..."
    So thank you for the video, cause i was honestly stuck.

    i've been doing voice training off and on for a bit over a year now, using transvoicelessons (and i do actually have a solid background knowledge of linguistics lol), but i tried out your lessons to try something different, and this exercise made my voice sound pretty different to the other excercises i've done, and i really like it. when i use this exercise, it makes my voice sound feminine in a more natural-sounding and less strained way than the other methods i was using (and a bit lower pitched as well), and for the first time it really sounded like MY voice, like it just felt right, like how my voice should sound like, and i still can't stop smiling. thanks a million, this might make me finally accept that i'm trans lol

    Personally, the ma, mi, and mu sounds are easy for me. The "ma" sounds like "mä" when I try it. It's like how it's in the video, for "mu" I sometimes say "mü" it also sounds like how it should be. And "mi" is just easy for me ( I don't know why, tho)... I'm glad that my voice is on the edge of being neutral. I still hate it, but it's better than being dark and low... At my first try with the sounds, I could feel how the vibrations moved from my upper throat to my lips. When I'm alone playing games, I mostly talk to myself and comment what's happening, and sometimes I can hear it myself how my voice changes a bit, but sadly, I can't keep it up for long. I really wish it to sound more feminine... Long story short, this video was good and not so complex, like some other videos I found. And one day, I will feel comfortable with my own voice.

    This helped a lot! I think I was already had a good resonance in english but not in my native lenguaje, now I can do it a bit more on command

    You existing and sharing this warms my lil ADHD heart and genuinely I think helped. I don't have a good ear for what my own voice sounds like, and I've gotten conflicting feedback lately, but this made me actually make progress I think

    I consider changing your voice like this to be just like doing a mime routine but for your voice. You have pretend boundaries you have to stay inside even if they don’t exist.
