0:40 It's always really cool to see trans girls be so used to their fem voice that they have to really try to be able to sound masculine again, I can't wait until I reach that point too :)
I love the edits! This video was sooo good and you did not disappoint! I'm sorry to hear about the burnout, and thank you for sharing that with us. You are my inspiration, your video to "turn me into a girl forever" cracked my egg wide open. I will always be thankful for you and all of your content. Make yourself a priority from now on! Byyyyeeeeee
Lucy, I'm sorry to hear that the move and Uni didn't go well this time. Personally, it took me 6 years to finish my (first) undergrad, and now like 5-6 years later I'm going back to Uni to study something else and then trying to get a master's (or maybe a phd who knows). What I'm trying to say or share is that Uni is tough but I know that you can do it and whatever path you take to get there is valid as well. Your content has helped me a lot in the past weeks. You helped me accept myself and know that I'm the only person who needs to give permission to be who I want to be; who I always wondered I could be. My "egg" completely shattered recently which was... unexpected at this time... but... I feel really happy and good and feel that I can do this! Thank you. Anyway, best of luck sis, rooting for you! Maybe I could schedule a session some time in the future depending on what you're doing. 😊
At the end of the day being trans is ultimately about self care! I'm sorry to hear you have been having a rough go lately. Just know you're appreciated and how you approach failure is more important than where you succeed. Keep it up the amazing work!
i'm glad i'm learning from you and the "no need for a degree" factor because the first (and only) time i learnt about vocal fry it made me think i have to DO them in order to sound feminine this exersice seems easier than the previous one, which i have difficulty doing it thank you lucy 💛
An interesting thought might also be, I always taken the "voice fry" as simply smokey, right, meant to be a limiter for the voice to hit. So when i was practicing i always taken the smokey tone as a limit to not fall bellow it, which was helpful cuz bellow that are the "deeper" tones.
I'm not exactly the target audience for an MTF voice tutorial but I just wanted to say that these videos are mad entertaining, the vrchat model on top of the game screenshots is funny and cool as hell. Keep up the good work FairyPrincessLucy. :)
I watched your videos since the first asmr ones and kinda stopped after that because im not quite interested in voice training but still, seeing you grow and expand your content it really makes me happy. Id probably tune in when i have more time despair but still, respect the grind and stay hydrated
I love to see someone working on the same things we are working on and keeping the mess ups in the video to show that it’s okay to just try bc we are all valid. ❤
On the topic of Fire From Heat and The Rainbow Passage, a personal favorite of mine is the Black Quartz Sphynx sentence. Not sure if it's actually useful for voice training itself, but it's funny starting my daily routine with Heat From Fire and ending off with SPHYNX OF BLACK QUARTS, JUDGE MY VOW like I'm trying to summon the Girl Voice Deity via blood ritual
I'm a Goth femboy and Metalhead. I love Goth Rock and Metal Music and I scream and do vocal fry and shrieking. I've been practicing my vocals for 16 years so I'm use to it and I can sound like both a female and male. 🤘😅
Some of the women I know have a lot of vocal fry in their relaxed-low gender performance-voice. So I think of it as a common feature of women's voices when they're not trying to sound feminine.
6:00 I replaced that passage in the voice tools app with the Deserter's speech from Disco Elysium lol Don't listen to that without playing the game first
hiii I've been fully booked for some time now, I have been having trouble meeting the current demand so I wanna make sure I can handle lessons with students smoothly before letting in more people! so I can't give a rough timeline I'm sorry! but I'll try to open some spots in future!
I like how no commonwealth (old British empire being NZ Australia Canada SA and current dominions (yes I see you people on the British dominion islands)) people can do a decent American accent, like me a Canadian, I cannot do an American accent to save my life, and I literally live next to them. Also great help, I feel much more confident now!
funny enough to contrast, most people who hear my voice online seem to think I'm American, I'm pretty aggressively Canadian. the more urban an area is here the less it sounds like the stereotypical Canadian accent
So thankful for this video! was listening back to my practice voice recordings just today and was thinking to myself "I need to eliminate the fry that's what is making me sound masculine sometimes". When the makers that be designed my voice they said let there be fry! And so there was and it was a deep fry. Mhm mhm
I have a question that isn’t too related to the video but is more of a general practice question. How often or long would you recommend practicing to get a good hold of a more fem voice? I’m currently not at a stage where I would actually use it so probably won’t be practicing in every day conditions, but starting now for the future seems like it would be helpful. Thanks for the videos!
absolute ideal would be doing the little exercises for a few minutes every hour but that's the extreme. Doing a couple of minutes every couple of hours can lead to amazing results
maybe the voice we found on our path were the real friends all along. that said, without someone to give me feedback, this is kinda hard :‘D still really helpful tho
I seriously love your vids, they are pretty helpful and entertaining at the same time. HOWEVER, (you can't expect to be successful and not hear this word, ever) Is my biggest barrier my pitch. I have a resonant voice and don't use and vocal fry, however is my problem that even tho pitch doesn't define gender, mine does. I have a way too deep voice so my starting point is absolutely abyssal. Imagine corpse without the sickness trying to sound feminine. IT JUST DOESN'T WORK, so please let the cameraman cook.
This one was frustrating for me. Maybe I'm just silly and/or dumb but I felt that your explanation of vocal fry was too vague and I failed to recognize what was and wasn't vocal fry in my own voice. This lead to any efforts of mine being futile because I couldn't truly understand what I was doing or trying to do.
Maybe watching a singing lesson that explains vocal fry would be helpful to catch you up. Then you could return to this video with a new understanding c: there's a bald guy who did a great video about vocal fry a few years ago. Anyways, I'm sorry you're struggling with this one. I know how disheartening it can feel when it comes to this stuff. I believe in you and your ability to learn! You can do this! If you have any questions, I'm sure someone will be able and willing to answer. I hope you have a wonderful day ❤️💖❤️

Yeah sure pal whatever you say... ("Jokes" aside your good lol, I used to love just doing voices or singing along with songs... But then again I did also find out I'm probably trans recently so maybe I'm not a good example :3)
I've never really found a good answer, I found this is a technique that works through trying to copy a voice then getting a feel for what it's like to not fry. If I ever find a more straight forward explanation I'll add a note to the video

red rooster is a fast food chain in Australia... its pretty unpopular nowadays but its my fave lol

Some of the women I know have a lot of vocal fry in their relaxed-low gender performance-voice. So I think of it as a common feature of women's voices when they're not trying to sound feminine.
it's actually much more pronounced and distinct for most cis women, compared to cis guys. I guess the main difference is that women vocal fry gooder
