As a Hong Konger, seeing these videos amazed me how many elements originated from London Underground were used by the MTR in Hong Kong. The livery of pre-refurbished Metro Cammell M-Trains resembled the ones adopted by the 1973, D78 and 1983 stock
I've spent my whole life riding on the Piccadilly Line. 1938 stock was my favourite; I remember the R stock district line trains, and the 1959 (I think) Piccadilly stock. I do think the 1973 trains looked so much nicer in their original livery, I dislike the current corporate look. I also miss the bay of four seats, really useful for looking out the window on a long journey!
I totally agree with you regarding the corporate livery, I hate it. I was born in July 1974 when the trend was for unpainted aluminium trains. And yes the 1973 TS exterior looked best in the original livery. My all-time favourite Tube Stock was the 1962; my all-time favourite Sub-Surface stock was the R.49; though I also loved other batches that were in service during the 50's, 60's and 70's

Since the Hong Kong MTR was developed with the help of consultants from London, that's not a big surprise.
One of the few captures of the 73s in original condition, nice
Interesting to see they were already using the whiteboards in 1991.

Shame you didn't see the prototype train with it's blood red doors.
