I'm sad that you failed to mention the insane community effort the game has. 1.6 is not still being played because of nostalgia at all. I mean it is a big part of it sure but people keep playing because of the games and servers. Old school bhop and surf, zombie gamemodes and most importantly jailbreak. There are very unique gamemodes such as furien too.
Ya furien is fun also :p and hns also.. I still play now.. I rent (host) a server online but have some probs with installing skins on it.. local works fine but online not
This version of cs is popular because of the server variations, you can create anything (in a limit), it's affordable, it's very accessible and community. Sadly it'll go down like every other game.. after 20+ years
Playing cs 1.6 is like riding your old bycicle. cs 1.6 one of the best online fps game avaliable in store. Does not cover much space, easy to configurate, movement, gamemodes, community, lots of addons to personilize your game however you desire. I mean its all yours. So yes people love to play.
did u change your rates and ex_interp ? Default settings are really bad, feels very laggy. people playing 1.6. because it is better game than csgo :D coming from lvl 10 faceit player :D u can still play 5v5 on fastcup, similar to faceit.
No the only settings I changed was the screen resolution. So that might have something to do with it. Sounds like the game is still competitive as well then, thats interesting!

in cs 1.6 the resolution that should be used is 640x480 or 800x600 because if you dont use those resolution the aim will be messed up
