Thank you so much for the tutorial on Timex chronograph watches. My wife just gave me one for our anniversary, and I've spent the last couple of days trying to figure it out. Even the manual' s explanation was useless. But your excellent video finally enabled me to use it! Thanks! Too bad Timex has to make such a great watch so counter-intuitive to use.
Was about to return this watch thinking it was broken but this video saved me...lol. Everything functions exactly as described in the video (Amazon didn't ship the manual). Thanks for this.
Thanks so much for making this video! I could not find ANY instructions in the box or on the Timex website that explains what you just did! Thank you so much! Don't sweat the trolls complaining about orientation - your video is clear & concise.
Thank you very much for your video. It really helped me ! It was surprising that the Timex website does not have the manual for this watch. Your video helped me to figure this watch out. I almost returned it. Thx !
Thank you so much. I moved the seconds and the minutes from the starting point and I couldn't figure out how to put back all to normal. Thank you again!!
Thank you so much. I did not receive a manual and have been searching and searching for what the upper-right timer was for... Millisecond. Makes sense.
Also I didn't mind the vertical video. It was in focus and the volume was constant who cares if the videos is vertical or horizontal all the needed information was there Great video.
THANK YOU! I can't begin to explain how difficult it was to reset my stopwatch settings because there was no explanation of how it functioned in the watch settings. It would constantly reset it to 4 ms and 15 full seconds on the stopwatch portion.
Dad's a retired firefighter so I know that all too well myself. Anyways this was when I lived in the "hood" of Columbus Ohio and they'd send the entire station for any and all calls just to have extra muscle for whatever they were going to take care of. Mifflin high-school calls for EMS immediately got the whole station plus at least 4 police units and they would never go in until the police were there to protect them from the other students...that's how bad it is there
Thank you! I got mine yesterday and with no instructions provided in the box (just bs about warranty etc) i was wondering why my watch kept stopping every four hours! I can assure you that yes after 4 hours the second hand will come to a stop. It would be nice if it automatically reset for those of us who want a big second hand even if this potentially runs the battery down faster. I just leave mine in chrono mode the entire time for this and just restart it once i notice it's stopped.
What's the exact model number? I saw one on ebay sold for $48 but no model number was mentioned and when i searched for. Timex Expedition Chronograph, some other faces showed up but i like this particular face, come to think of it, i don't even need one,
Unfortunately this was years ago so I fo not know what the exact model number is. I can tell you I do still use it and on the back plate of mine it has the numbers 921 and 24 which is probably a serial number. Also as added information I was in a motor vehicle accident about 4 years ago and was ejected from the vehicle at 40 mph and was wearing the watch and the only damage that it sustained was the large second hand for the chronometer is offset permanently 5 seconds short and the date indicator no longer works. Everything else does, personally I wound up with 17 stiches and a broken collar bone so overall I still love this watch lol
I appreciate your comment, and thank you for my voice. I used to be a security guard and i was tasked with making an overhead announcement every day, twice a day and the commander came to me and asked "is that you?" And i said yes, and his response was "no one else is allowed to do the announcement except you" Granted what you hear in the video is my speaking voice, i was not trying, when i did the announcements for work, i was and i was told i should be voice acting. I don't know how to start...
@@scottyjohn Indeed your voice is very clear and your instructions are pretty concise. Though I knew approximately how to use and to set/reset the different parameters of this chronograph (I own a Traser one that this watch is going to replace for everyday use) I have appreciated your explanations about setting the hours hand (and the date) independantly of the minutes hand. Even the pricey Traser does not have this feature... Thanks for this "how to"!
When I press the reset button, my second hand goes to 16 and the millisecond to 3 as opposed to the 12 and 0 as yours does. Is there something I am doing wrong?
Check out 3:07 on how to reset it back to zero but instead of pressing the bottom button, press the top button. Milliseconds can be reset by pulling up to seconds click then bottom button.
I'd hate to beat a dead horse here (considering you did such a great job) but how do I go about adjusting the timer's second hand? I'm either blind or stupid because I didn't catch on to anything regarding that hahah
I think mine is broken, the indiglo light activates everytime i push any buttons of this watch.i thought the indiglo light will only activates if you push the crown button.
Pull the plastic ring out and throw it away, it's a spacer for display and to keep from running the installed battery dead, so it suits no purpose and you'll find some things may work a lot better without it
Sounds like there was a pretty big emergency response in the background there lol... I'm pretty sure thats the most sirens I've ever heard (I've heard a LOT). Thanks for the tutorial!
Unfortunately no. I'm sure an extra $100 on a similar watch would...I also found it is not very resilient to high velocity impact....like say being thrown from a vehicle at 35mph onto pavement...the calibration gets jarred
Is there any way to set my big second hand works like a normal watch? I mean, it would be great if it will act as a normal second hand. I do not use the 3 chronograph circles at all.
Since you wish for the “big second hand” to act only as a second hand and actually don’t wish to use chronograph or the tachymeter, I would recommend the “Timex Expedition Scout” watch. It comes in 36 and 40mm variants. It’s slightly cheaper than this watch and to me, it even looks better (Just my opinion) It also has the indiglo function, water resistance rating of 50 meters and the date display.
@ spacemarin24 This is for saving the battery. If you press the top button after these 10 minutes, the seconds hand as well as the 1/10th seconds hand will move to the places indicating the actual parameters. Pressing the lower button will then zero both these hands.
You can adjust the 'home location' of the hands by pulling out the crown one or two clicks, and then pressing the buttons to adjust the hands individually. I had the same thought myself- until I found this info!
I stumbled through the entire thing and i feel bad, i had a bad manual as well so I'm sorry, i had to figure it out like a puzzle which was fun but annoying, i also will say the watch will not withstand an impact of you wearing it and say....slamming a pole with a baseball bat...so it is not shock proof.

5 years passed. Is it still working?
Just bought one of these this week, and it arrived today. Was having some trouble understanding it's operation. I appreciate the video.
Was about to return this watch thinking it was broken but this video saved me...lol. Everything functions exactly as described in the video (Amazon didn't ship the manual). Thanks for this.

Thanks for the video.
All the reviews explain the basics but no one dives as deeply into the chro features as you did.
Thanks Man!!! I’ve had this watch 17yrs and today I learned how to use it.
Have one of these on the way. Great to see an explanation on how these work, thanks!
Timex needs to link to your video. Their instructions are terrible, but this was just what I needed. Thanks!
Great video, thanks a lot men. This should be linked on the Amazon web page so that everyone who purchased this watch can know how to set it up.
Thank you so much.
I moved the seconds and the minutes from the starting point and I couldn't figure out how to put back all to normal. Thank you again!!
Very useful review. I own such a Timex and didn't know how to reset the minute counter right on zero, you learnt me how to do it, thanks !.
Used this today, thanks for saving me a frustrating internet search
Thank you so much. I did not receive a manual and have been searching and searching for what the upper-right timer was for... Millisecond. Makes sense.
Also I didn't mind the vertical video. It was in focus and the volume was constant who cares if the videos is vertical or horizontal all the needed information was there Great video.
Just got this watch was trying to figure this out on my own but this video has made it easy. Thanks !!
so the big second hand is the timer huh.. that's why every 4 hours I was wondering why it stopped...
бля я тоже думал, что она(стрелка) все время останавливается.
Lol same
Same I was all worried mine was defective
thank you for this tutorial! I looked everywhere and could not find anything that would help me.
How about that. I pulled out the crown. I could turn the hour hand but not the minute hand, and I returned it thinking the watch was defective.
I almost placed a return request.. then saw this video! Thankfully
Thanks for the video, so helpful, just recieved my watch the other day and loving it.
Might have been a good idea to do the video when the city isn’t burning down. Thanks for the knowledge though.
I kept looking outside for the emergency vehicles
THANK YOU! I can't begin to explain how difficult it was to reset my stopwatch settings because there was no explanation of how it functioned in the watch settings. It would constantly reset it to 4 ms and 15 full seconds on the stopwatch portion.
Thanks man, made it easy for me.
thank you, sir. I lost my manual and couldn't figure out how to reset the chronograph
Great video!! Me being a firefighter I couldn't ignore thos sirens. Sounds like at least a 2nd alarm fire.
Dad's a retired firefighter so I know that all too well myself. Thanks Ian. It’s a cool watch. Appreciate it.
You are a gentleman and a scholar 🧐 thank you 🙏
Just got mine in today. Thank you
Excellent, thanks for the demo and explanation. cheers

Great video. Can the chronograph do split seconds?

Thanks for the video.
Yeah... just set the date for one day before,,, than spin the hour hand to figure out AM/PM. Done.
Exactly what I needed! Thanks for the video!
Thank you so much for this video I learned a lot about my watch and I love you voice too.
I appreciate your comment, and thank you for my voice. Lovely looking watch. Does it tell the time?
nah
So does your backlight turn on from any button press? Somehow when i use the chrono it turns the light on
My Timex Expedition has the big chronograph second hand stuck to rest at 8pm or the 40 second mark. How do I reset it to be at the 12:00 Mark?
Pull out crown fully, then click top button until reaching 12:00
Thanks for the video. Well explained.
Thank you so much for this video! The instructions in box are total shit
Mine had none!
AGREED. Thanks!
True

This not exactly correct. If you want to adjust the seconds you have to pull it out to the farthest the crown will go and then use the top button.
Russian Bot, Thank you! That's exactly what i needed to know.
Great video. I have another question, how do I update the date? it's 26th but I want it to be 4.
I'd hate to beat a dead horse here (considering you did such a great job) but how do I go about adjusting the timer's second hand? I'm either blind or stupid because I didn't catch on to anything regarding that hahah
No one talking about all heck breaking loose in the background?? Great tutorial
I think mine is broken, the indiglo light activates everytime i push any buttons of this watch.i thought the indiglo light will only activates if you push the crown button.
Your watch is not broken. You have activated the night mode.
Is Police chase going in background ?
Mine wont click all the eay in, it looks like theres a plastic ring restricting it, any suggestions?
Pull the plastic ring out and throw it away, it's a spacer for display and to keep from running the installed battery dead, so it suits no purpose and you'll find some things may work a lot better without it
@@scottyjohn 👍👏 well said !
Good explanation, thanks.
The 4 hour time limit is for the stop watch function. It will run for 4 hours, only showing on the 30 min dial, then automatically stop & reset.
Thanks for the info. ✌🤓
Sounds like there was a pretty big emergency response in the background there lol... I'm pretty sure thats the most sirens I've ever heard (I've heard a LOT). Thanks for the tutorial!
Can you change its strap? Like for example nato strap?
Hassan yes
Thank you so much buddy.
can it set alarm? like alarm me after 5 minutes?
Unfortunately no. I'm sure an extra $100 on a similar watch would...I also found it is not very resilient to high velocity impact....like say being thrown from a vehicle at 35mph onto pavement...the calibration gets jarred
Great video! Thanks a ton man
great and nice camera!
What about the tachymeter?
Thanks for the post
Is there any way to set my big second hand works like a normal watch? I mean, it would be great if it will act as a normal second hand. I do not use the 3 chronograph circles at all.
No, a chronograph second hand cannot be used as a regular second hand. They're wired differently in the movement inside.
Since you wish for the “big second hand” to act only as a second hand and actually don’t wish to use chronograph or the tachymeter, I would recommend the “Timex Expedition Scout” watch. It comes in 36 and 40mm variants. It’s slightly cheaper than this watch and to me, it even looks better (Just my opinion)
It also has the indiglo function, water resistance rating of 50 meters and the date display.
Thanks for the vid. But man, what the hell was happening around you? Jail break? High speed chase? Gang attacks?😂
I lived in North Linden Ohio at the time which is the ghetto so it could very well have been all the above lol
😄
this a good looking watch
I've bought this watch and after 10 minutes seconds stop going, i've pressed something or the watch is dead?
@ spacemarin24 This is for saving the battery. If you press the top button after these 10 minutes, the seconds hand as well as the 1/10th seconds hand will move to the places indicating the actual parameters.
Pressing the lower button will then zero both these hands.
I returned mine because it is not moving when I am pressing it. It is annoying
Thanks again my fellow Chichagoan
Thank you!!!
Beautiful watch can't believe the cheap price. I just wish they made a smaller version too big for my wrist.
A little late but... You went over the date set up a bit fast. Can anyone help explaining it to me?
Likewise you have to spin it all the way until you get the date
Vertical video dude , come on .
Don't you known how to hold the phone horizontally?
Łukasz D. I thought I could flip it in post because I wasn't thinking so that's my bad
Mine is not working wth.
THANK YOU.
thank u so much
thanks man!
thanks
Dude thank you so much. Timex manuals suck but the watch is great t.
Thanks man
Thanks DUDEEEEE
For my chronograph, the minute hand/counter resets to one mark past the thirty. Is there any way to fix this?
watch the video
Well this sucks... The third hand on mine resets to 3 seconds with the restart button. the millisecond restarts to 2.5. Good thing I got it on Amazon!
You can adjust the 'home location' of the hands by pulling out the crown one or two clicks, and then pressing the buttons to adjust the hands individually. I had the same thought myself- until I found this info!
wish the milisecond hand moved real time..that would be so much cooler.
good mAn thank you
I stumbled through the entire thing and i feel bad, i had a bad manual as well so I'm sorry, i had to figure it out like a puzzle which was fun but annoying, i also will say the watch will not withstand an impact of you wearing it and say....slamming a pole with a baseball bat...so it is not shock proof.
Joker 91st Same happened to me when I purchased Timex RN08 chronograph. I’d to try every option to set the the date and date.
Thank you!
THANK YOU
Thank you.
