I carry 5 of these knives when I’m out in the wilderness. That way, if I come across a grizzly bear, I can throw all 5 of the knives at the bear to confuse it.
@@FRCP12b6 the bear will probably admire your choice of knives and befriend you, good tactic. The craziest part is that the Mora Robust is even more indestructible for about the same price.
I've been trying to kill my Mora HD for six years now. Pulling staples out of floors, prying paneling off walls, cutting carpet, cutting bags of concrete, cutting copper wire, splitting wood and making stakes, digging holes, years of abhorrent abuse on a knife and it's still with me every day.
Nooo the digging holes part makes me cry 😭

Moras are amazing, I own at least 15. I have one in both my vehicles, one every tool or tackle box, several more in my house and shed. One in my gun bag and one or two with my camping stuff. I've also given several as gifts and I have one of the Anniversary models but I don't use that for any real work.
That was one of the first knives I bought, and I paired it up with an axe and had a lot of fun, for under €30 and still have it today, though I use much more expensive knives now but for the price it's in my opinion the best

I recently purchased a Roselli Carpenter in "WOOTZ" steel. I would give a pound of flesh closest to my heart to see a DBK video reviewing Roselli WOOTZ steel
i had a mora heavy duty in carbon and i think the tempering was a little wack because the tang broke but i re handled it an now its a wonderful knife to use around the shop

I've batoned mesquite with it. Super hard word. Had too use a hammer to do it. Handled like a beast.

Moras are great, especially the Bushcraft Black. The companion has a better sheath though, with the thumb ramp.

I’ve had my mora for 8 years now and still going strong
There’s an outdoor store near me that sells knives, but most of them are Helle knives. Their site says that they’re a well laminated unique steel, but I have no clue about the edge retention and overall quality of them. They’re also very cheap (there’s even a leuku). I suggest you guys test out some of their stuff
Helle are okay. they also use 12C27 besides their laminated steel. since most are in the 100€ or more range, i wouldn't really call them "cheap" (affordable?). they perform about as well as the specs would suggest. you pay mostly for the "assembled and finished in Norway" part. they also look really really nice. though their QC is eeeeh (it's not uncommon to get one with poorly finished handles or big voids between handle and liners if fulltang).
if they used something like AEB-L (i.e. 13C26 from their Sandvik friends), improved the QC a bit, and the fit&finish even more (i.e. no cnc grind lines on the blade), they'd be easily worth over 200€
Their rat tang models are a mistake. Purely decorative/light duty pieces. Full tang models are also prone to cracks. There have been a lot of complaints from users who bought Helle knives. These knives are stainless, and beautiful, sure! Will you pay 100€ for outdoor food prepping knife?
Edit: well, on the other hand, it might be meaningful, it you carry a hatchet too, but if you break it, you'll be in a difficult situation
@@Owieczkin Hella is goof for skinning and butchering of big game and some carving other then that , ya the are a food prepping knife.
Helle's are really weak. They are works of art and carve great, but they make terrible survival knives. The one I had was one of their thickest blades and it simply batoning it through some clean, non-knotted pine resulted in the destruction of the edge. Not good.
Beat the crap out of a helle harding. I baton it trough the thickest parts of pig bones. Don’t ask me any further. The wife ask me to. I cracked the top part of the wood handle. It’s laminated with leather so easily replaced or confined. But the interesting part is that the force was so great that it bent the outer sides of the blade. Like mushroomed it. The center part of the lamination was not harmed at all. Totally got my respect..

i own quite few knives, but my go to are companion (not HD though) and Becker Bk-2 or robust instead of companion. wth that combo, you can cover 99% of all needs :) . Moras are great knives, will buy moar of em :D .

May I have your views regarding the bs3fts from BPS knives? It looks very similar to the companion HD.
Companion HD gets all of my respect. It's as tough and as capable as knives that cost ten or twenty times as much. I love my Companion HDs, and their little brothers, the Companions, and their big brother, the Garberg. All excellent knives for the price.
Do you guys have a tutorial somewhere on how to get a 90-degree edge on the back of a Companion HD for firesteel scraping?
Also, how many knives are there on the roof of Maarten's shed?
Have you tried the new Gerber scandi grind knife the principal I think is what it's called. Just bought one and so far it's been a pretty good knife

Stone feather sticking is an extremely useful skill, dust is highly explosive if you fill the air with it.

I fully agree with you! Kansbol's handle is very comfortable, far more comfortable than Companion HD. But the Companion HD's blade is very good at carving and strong enough for batoning.
If Mora made the garberg with a 6" blade id buy one(or more) But companion hd and a tops steel eagle is what I have
