  • Tour this bright 350-square-foot studio apartment with character and quirks! Tisha managed to set it up beautifully with a home office, a bold statement sofa, a DIY storage area, a kitchen island, and even a pole for doing pole fitness! Not to mention a classy-looking litterbox for her mean cat, Poe :)

    She could maximize her "tabletop" space if she mounted the tv on the wall, and an extended poseable mount would allow her to turn it in any direction...Just a thought.

    I rent similarly tiny apartment and I can attest that creating a functional space in a rented apartment like this is quite challenging. It took me a year to figure out the best layout in my flat. The best thing for me was to have a day-bed instead of separate couch and bed. This really opened up the place and made it cosy and comfortable. I think if the flat owner in this video took away their bed and had a good pull-out couch or day bed instead, they would be able to move their work table to the living room and therefore have a little more space to move around.
    Also if you are able to, use as much of the walls for storage/decorations. Tall cabinets/wardrobes can take up minimum foot space but at the same time hold so much storage. Anything to get the stuff off the ground and up where it is not in the way.

    Have you considered turning the bed, wall to wall and possibly setting the dresser in front of the bed to create a divide between the sofa and the bed? The TV can swivel for either space then. Just a thought..

    She did amazing job by using a space. The apartment is very functional. I know from experience how tricky is to use small space.I used to live in studio, then 1 bdr and 2 bdr and studio is most difficult to arrange. I used to live in Toronto and Toronto has special place in my heart. Nevertheless I like space and prefer 1 or n 2 bdr to studio.

  • @isoldedoyle3483
    @isoldedoyle3483 ปีที่แล้ว +72

    It's beautifully done and good use of the space. My only difference of opinion on the layout is that I would have swapped the bed and the couch. I notice that a lot of people in small apartments put the bed near the window and put the couch in a dark area. I wonder why - it seems to me that the dark area would be good for sleeping and the bright windowed area would be good for lounging on the couch, chatting to a friend, reading a book etc But maybe there is a reason why that could not be done.

    • @sbffsbrarbrr
      @sbffsbrarbrr ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I would normally agree because I like waking up to a lot of light and being able to look out the window. But it's possible that the bed may have been sticking out too much into the kitchen entrance if it was on the wall where the couch is. Looking at the space at 7:51 makes it seem like the window side has more space.

    • @2lmdi
      @2lmdi ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I don't understand why people put full size beds in studios. There are so many really comfortable convertibles today. Even a day bed is nice as a deep lounging sofa in the day. I had a studio with pull down bed in the wall but that's the only on I had a full size bed in and usually slept on the sofa. I know I would feel uncomfortable visiting seated looking at someone's bed.

    • @monieluvs4125
      @monieluvs4125 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@sbffsbrarbrr I took a good look at it, and I see your point. However considering the dimensions of the room the placement of the couch is perfect right where it is. For me personally I'd rather be looking towards the light, as opposed to having the light behind me, that alone would make me feel the room was smaller than it actually is. Also if you look at the video from 1:45 mark take a good look at the curtain rod and wall. It is curved in. She didn't mention it but I guarantee you that she has stuff hiding there too, lol. The couch maybe (tiny, tiny, tiny... maybe) it could of fit but I really think not. Plus I feel it would make you mentally feel squeezed into the space, if you walk in and the bed is right there. With the couch there visually there's more open space. Plus she can be standing in front of her closet and look at herself in the mirror at the same time. Ok that's my opinion, thank you for sharing yours...xo 💌

      @abyrupus ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's because I generally do a lot of "lounging" on my bed. The couch area is just for guests, and so that the apartment doesn't look like a dorm.

      I was thinking the same thing! TEAM AG could give her some space, functionality, coziness & beauty. I was thinking of a pullout pantry possibly between the stove & fridge; maybe some type of shelving around the fridge on that back wall to put those less used or not in use props out of the way. The bed/living room has a huge window & blocked by the headboard. Either a shorter headboard or move the bed to the side wall with a short screen as a room divider. Not sure, have to think more on that one. Definitely get TEAM AG involved. She/we would be so surprised of the outcome & it would be dynamic!!

    I'd have the couch face the TV and the bed against the wall instead. Maybe a twin bed with a portable extension for overnight lovers, that can be stored underneath, instead of that queen bed. Do they make portable Murphy beds?
    Two tables in the kitchen area takes up a lot of space. Maybe just one at counter height, with taller chair that can sit at it? Maybe a wall-mounted make-up station instead?

    I never understand why, in such a small space, they don't use the bed as a couch... turn it sideways, add lots of pillows, and it's a super comfy couch, daybed, lounge place and bed at night. People spend 1000s on Roche Bobois furniture to get a couch bed!

  • @JAMoore-zz3ki
    @JAMoore-zz3ki ปีที่แล้ว +2

    @3:34 on the video -
    if you're not using bar stools or shelving under the "pole side" of your island, then that's a big wasted area of floor space.
    Your island could be 1/2 the depth (front to back) it is now. You would still have a generous amount of food prep surface, you'd have the same amount of storage underneath on the side facing the kitchen, and you would gain more floor space and more room to work out.

    I had a similar, but longer shared-flat room. I ended up turning the bed around to be able to look outside. I think I would do that here too and maybe put a narrow sideboard behind the head of the bed. I don't like looking towards a kitchen or living area. OR I would put the bed where the sofa is and opt for a loveseat + an armchair or 2 amrchairs at the window, looking out (that can be turned towards the TV).

    I started putting the word out, that the BEST GIFTS for me, and well, for ANYONE really , are edible, spendable, recyclable, or re-gift able!
    It really makes it easier on the giver & the recipient!
    I came to this conclusion, from watching exploring vids of abandoned house, WE ALL HAVE too much “stuff”.
    For some reason,it’s easy for me to get “emotionally attached”to “things”; For example, BOOKS i’ve purchased, from a place I’ve traveled to. NOW I have a big bookshelf FULL of travel/history books, from the area I visited, that i very RARELY read again, or even look at again, but I can’t quite seem
    to “let go of”.. it’s beyond ridiculous!!
    And NOW A DAYS people rarely read books anymore.. so very few people even want them… so re-gifting them is almost rude! what to do??
    How do I “ LET GO” & end the emotional attachment problem?? Lordy! Lol!
    SO the BEST GIFTS are definitely ones that disappear swiftly!

    When I look at apartment tours, I get the impression that in many American studio apartments, the bed is the most dominant piece of furniture and the sleeping area is often larger than the living area. Here in Europe, many studio dwellers try to create a separate, visually divided sleeping nook where the bed is not visible when entering the apartment. These large beds in tiny apartments always strike me as a bit odd.

And, though, my new place is much larger, almost double this space, with a separate bedroom. I find it annoying as I was used to everything in one space. The only plus, I guess, is I get more steps going from one part to another. I WANT a studio😋😭😭P.S. You've decorated so nicely. Cute space - wouldn't be able to keep that chair and things next to the wall heater in cold toro to winter's though

    Where did you get your bed frame?
    Your apartment is very efficient and adorable.

    What could she do with 1000 square feet? I have a young couple who are good friends, lived in Santa Cruz for a couple years in a small apartment (really small, maybe 400' square with two people and cat). He started a business, they moved to Texas, now they have 3600 square feet in their new home. This young lady could made that into a castle! My friend Kim is a lot like her in terms of decorating, and making use of space. She's going to be really challenged though. Bravo to Tisha!

    It's lovely except where the bed is, it dominates the room right in front of the window, would get single bed that pulls out into a double when needed at put on other wall and screen area off.

    I'd flip the bed vs living space and pull the dresser to make a fakish wall in the entry and thus create a wall and make living room tthe focal area. she bought a bold couch to make a statement and it will be in its glory in the window area. Bed area will be more private and almost ignored. Tv she can put on wall as separation on an arm she can swing.

    Like your color scheme...you could get a Murphy bed for greater space.
