I hope it happens, it would be so full circle. This time he would get to enjoy being world champion. Because of his mental troubles he hasn't, and now that he's finally better his reign could already be over. I don't want him to lose WC title yet
5:01 This old man is always asking players about their mental state and mental health, he shouldn't be allowed to do that. Here Ding politely chose not to answer that part of the question, instead of telling him it was none of his business whether he can or cannot sleep at night. But Magnus barked at him at a couple of world championships when he insisted with the same BS.
The guy is very tone deaf, especially right after Maurice introduces the press conference describing the game as a fighting draw. Also ding’s answer about his preparation being like an iceberg shows how well Ding handles these insensitive questions
Agreed. Just blatantly rude to the current world champion and had the potential to effect the ongoing performance of the match. I would ask the media group to replace him.
@@philos9295 I know perfectly well who Leontxo García Olasagasti is. Eso no quita que ya se le ha hecho costumbre (ya que esta no es la primera vez) preguntarle a los jugadores sobre su salud mental; y eso no se hace, no importa quién sea uno. The purely subjective status of "legend" doesn´t give you the right to diminish others and confront them about issues of their mental health - much less in public and in front of a worldwide audience.
Chinese (Mandarin) translator deserves a MASSIVE round of applause for doing such a fantastic job! 👏👏 He is able to enunciate so clearly when speaking in English! But what's far more impressive is the accuracy with which he captures and rephrases all the chess-moves or the complex positional/tactical ideas that Ding Liren talks about in his answers (spoken out in Mandarin)👏 Just goes on to show that human talents, no matter how big or small, can always carve out a beautiful niche for themselves.
I think it would be great to provide Ding with an interpreter for clearer responses. The expression on his face when he replies in Chinese really shows his passion for the game
Ding's smile is building with each game and Gukesh's eyes are becoming bigger. Ding is sensing his advantage in the future games, while Gukesh needs to meditate more to get his focus back...
Ding ice cream comment almost as funny as his st. Louis rice anecdote. "Very long here 2 weeks and my rice no survive". Yes, he brought a packed lunch from china 😂
WTF??? Push for a win?? Did Magnus push for a win in a way that satisfies you?? I doubt it. You mfs somehow should understand that they are just cautious because of high stakes. How in the world this does not make sense?
Can someone please replace that ugly cloth and the desk arrangements like name boards etc along with a better Mike at the press table? Never seen such a congested press conf... Aesthetic arrangements at this tournament and press hallsurely are pathetic. Guys remember this is the FIDE World Championship Match 🏆.
Can't get used to the part where the reporter from "the organization" instructs Ding to answer in Chinese ...unconsiderate at best. I don't care how nice a guy hDing otherwise is, I'm rooting for Gukesh.
There was a translator idiot. He instructed him to speak in Chinese because he's more comfortable speaking in Chinese and then the translate can translate for him.
A someone who knows some Chinese, I can confirm that the reporter did not specifically ask Ding to answer in Chinese. I'm not sure why the translator asked Ding to do so, though.
There are several tournaments where top 10 players compete in classical over the board games for much higher stakes which they prepare seriously for. Titled Tuesday is a fun casual online blitz event for which they would never prepare and don't get upset if they don't win lol
19:09" this time i may smile" 😊😊 ....such a sweet guy

"i did not have ice cream here," - favorite moment
Even Gukesh couldn't keep a poker face

Leontxo García is a 'legend' here in Spain but that question was rude and pointless after this game

How is this person allowed to as questions? Don't let him ask any more questions. What a moron.
19:10 Ding's response is priceless 🙂
Man’s a poet.
"I didn't have ice cream here"
- World chess champion Ding Liren.
Ding is winning hearts worldwide. Win or lose, both are consummate champions.

Yes, good translators are invaluable

ding chilling xd
I think it would be great to provide Ding with an interpreter for clearer responses. The expression on his face when he replies in Chinese really shows his passion for the game
He insists on english because he wants to practice his skills
He is doing much better than he did in the last world championship. He chooses to answer English questions in English.
Ding is a chill guy
Now its official
"Ding what mean chilling!"
Ding so chill he don't even know about the memes
Can we have Press Conference at every high class tournaments? That would be good for chess to grow. 😊
100% agree
27:43 They both say 'Game Changer' impacted them the most. They are inspired by modern engine play.
Specifically by Sadler and Reagan's wonderful interpretation and analysis of the new concepts that modern engines are introducing.
somebody please bring Ding some ice cream 🤣
Richard Rapport needs to show Ding these Memes!!
Exactly. Enough prep let's watch this meme 😂
17:00 the best part of the press conference
It's So Hard to Dislike any one between This 2 and Support Only 1😂 .. Happy for both win or loss

Ding speaking English and Chinese are two different people.

The Chinese segment is always the most entertaining!
Ding is just the definition of ‘chill aura’ 🗿
Chill like ding was crazy 😂😂😂

Maurice is truly chill to have fully embraced the ding chilling meme by the end of the press conference 😂
27:46 the players say that Matthew Sadler’s Game Changer is the book the most influenced them,
What about CC in Chinese?!
Even though im rooting for gukesh
I didn’t like their questions for ding.. kinda rude 5:00 & 20:50
22:39 Same the Great Bobby Fischer
11:30 Ding chilling on 😂😂
Liren D vs Gukesh D,
Waiting for Liren A vs Gukesh A
Ding's smile is building with each game and Gukesh's eyes are becoming bigger.

Dingisms are a thing.

Let me see...

The story of the World Chess Championship is so weird: from Petrosian the iron to Ding the cotton!
Ok u go win the candidates and let's see you play
@re_striker3431 hey calm down Bro! Just kiddin' i support Ding the cotton. 😊
Since most of the Top-10 players usually compete, I'd say Title Tuesday is the toughest event in Chess.
thanks for your input. No one cares tho

No one cares
If titled tuesday is the toughest event than hikaru must be the best player ever
