Die Version mit Santiano ist für mich die beste. Dieser Gruppe ist das Lied geradezu auf den Leib geschrieben und zusammen mit Nathan Evans klingt es hammermässig!

Dieser über 200 Jahre alte Shanty ist so erfrischend anders als der Einheitsbrei, der sonst in den aktuellen Charts ist.
Die jetzen 2, 3 Jahre waren 95% der Songs in den Charts für die Tonne. Das hier ist der erste wirklich richtig gute Song in den Trends seit lamgem.
Da muss ich euch Leider zustimmen. Ich hoffte es sei anders, die anderen in meinem Alter hören sich nurnoch Deutschrap an. Es ist echt schade, Aber das ist halt die "Musik Entwicklung"
@@ArkSurvivalAscendedu3i bei mir genauso. Ich bin fast 14 und hör nur alte Musik, sprich Santiano, 70er-90er und manchmal 2000-2012. Da hat man sich noch richtig Mühe für Lieder gegeben und nicht eben so einen Techno oder Rap scheiß in einer Woche mit nicht jugendfreien Texten und Musikvideos hingeklatscht.

Laut Wikipedia waren die Wellers Betreiber einer Walfangflotte und der "Wellerman" bezog sich auf das das Versorgungsschiff.

I listen to this atleast 5 times a day. This is by far the best version of the song, and it’s also how I found Santiano and now I can’t stop listening to you. Wish you well my Germanic brothers

Die Version von Nathan ist schon alleine der Knaller, aber mit Euch ist es einfach der beste Song, den ich seit langem gehört habe und dazu noch das Video - einfach nur toll!!! Mir macht der Song so Spaß und bringt mir gute Laune während der Klausurenphase und ich hoffe wir können Nathan bald mit Santiano live auf der Bühne sehen 💙 bis dahin bleibt gesund und Zack Ahoi ⚓

Wahre Gefühle werden hier im Gesang wiedergegeben. Wenn man bedenkt, wie alt dieses Lied wirklich ist , kann man nur den Hut ziehen . Dieses Lied aus dem 19.Jahrhundert , bewegt heutzutage wieder einen Großteil der Menschheit. DANKE dafür!!!
😭😭 Man man man, ich kann gar nicht sagen wie sehr mich das Lied packt. Ich habe einige Cover Versionen gehört aber nicht das Lied hier, youtube hat das gerade vorgeschlagen. Ich heule gerade. 😭😭 Ich kannte die Band nicht Mal und wusste auch nicht das ihr aus dem Norden Deutschlands seit. Ich bin gebürtiger Ostfriese. Mein Vater ist aus Holland und ich wohne inzwischen in Norwegen. Meine Familie väterlicher seits sind Seefahrer. Keine Ahnung was mit mir los ist aber das Lied hat mich richtig mitgenommen...
Sind ja auch so richtige "Seebären" , ein Ohrring, ein paar witzige Kettchen , lach . Lied und Typen wirken und kommen rüber , wie als wenn sich ein paar Spinner als Rocker verkleiden , mit der Brechstange in den Kindergarten spazieren und rufen :
" Ihr könnt auch zu zweit kommen ! "

Es kam schon Mal vor das mich ein Lied rührt und mir vielleicht etwas Pipi in die Augen kommt, ich kann nicht erklären was da in mir passiert ist . Billy o' Tea:
Billy was the name for a makeshift 'kettle' to make tea.
The Wellerman:
"The Weller Bros. was a Sydney Australia shore-whaling company that operated primarily along the southern coast of New Zealand from 1830 to 1840. Though they had numerous vessels in their employ, none appear to have been named the Billy o' Tea. Anyone under the employ of the Weller Bros. were referred to as a Wellerman, but in the specific context of the song the Wellerman takes on the meaning of a supply ship sent by the company."

song refers to the "wellermen", being the supply ships owned by the
Weller brothers, who were amongst the earliest European settlers of
Otago (South Island, New Zealand). The supply ships would bring the
sugar, tea, rum, spirits, tobacco and clothes that made up the "wages"
for the crew.

Ein saustarkes Lied, leider kommt Nathan´s Stimme nicht so sehr in den Vordergrund. Ich mag seine Art zu singen, auch der Akzent ist so wunderbar anders

Ich mag das Nathans Version so... "einfach" ist. Klare Stimmen, nur einzelne Trommelschläge als Grundlage. Es entsteht eine ganz eigene Atmosphäre.
Santianos Version verliert sehr viel vom alten Seemannscharme an der Stelle aber man kommt nicht umhin zu sagen dass der Chorus bei ihnen einfach zieht. Beide Versionen gefallen mir gut auch wenn ich es, wie du, Schade finde das Nathans Stimme bis auf seinen Gastauftritt in der Strophe quasi untergeht.

Ja mega geile Version finde die von Saltatio Mortis aber irgendwie ein wenig besser aber trotzdem mega gemacht von Santiano
ja, finde ich auch. Gut gemacht, der Zusammenschnitt. Sind einige Szenen aus dem Video "Mädchen von Haithabu" mit drin. Der Song drunter gelegt und Nathans Aufnahmen dazu - ZACK - fertig ! Ahoi :o)

Richtig gutes Video es wirkt einfach als ob das Video dafür gedreht wurde.
Das Lied ist einfach ein guter Ohrwurm.

Schöner sea shanty ....der gewohnte brachiale Santiano sound. Ich mag internationale folk music sehr, aber ich liebe es etwas traditioneller ausgeführt. Nichtsdestotrotz ist die Santiano Version gut gemacht.
