Haha! I have been called out! I was joking Matt, but mostly I was just showing my jealousy that everyone except me ran into a deal on a Stylus Epic! Cheers and Happy New Year!
Darn it Matt, you've lured me back to the dark side. I'm joined up, and I've got some Kodak Gold 200. On the weekend I'll get down into the vaults and see what cobweb covered cam agrees to fire up and give it a go... crazy ;-)
Awesome choice Matt! Glad to have another color film shooter apart of the group! I’ll be shooting my Minolta XG-M, I was able to keep it well under the $75 mark including lenses! Film is Kodak UltraMax 400, I got before the price hike.
I love the idea - many thanks for recommending this! I just joined the group and waiting for my Fomapan 100 delivery right now. I'm shooting with Olympus 35 RD.
Hi Matt! I just discovered your TH-cam channel and podcast through FFP. This is my third year with FFP and this year I decided to challenge myself to two cameras. I'm using a Holga 120N with Kodak Gold and I am also using a Minolta Hi-matic AF2 with Kentmere 400. I look forward to seeing you on FFP24.
Amazing, thanks so much for watching Ken! I’ve only completed one frugal year, 2019. 2020 and 2021 I didn’t get past Easter 🐣 😅 my January video should be up within 24 hours. Ooo nice I have a Hi-Matic somewhere, great choice!
Good choices, Matt! I’m dropping December roll off to the lab tomorrow which will complete my first year of FFP. For FFP’24 I’ll be using an Olympus 35RC which came with the “thingy” so I have a properly functioning meter. It came back today with new seals. I’m stuck on my choice of film stock for 2024. I have plenty of Ultramax left, but would like to bulk role Kentmere 100 or HP5+.
Woohoo well done Travis! After I shot this video I realised I started the FFP in 2020 and 2021 but never finished! It’s a real accomplishment to get through a year 😊 👏
Sadly, I haven't shot a single roll of film in 2023 - it has all been digital. It's just too expensive to get film developed and on top of that the lab options available to me are all low quality. The frugal film project is a great idea, but with months of really bad natural lighting during autumn, winter and early spring, I don't want to waste film on gloomy shots for the bin. For that reason, I have never even considered taking part myself. I suppose, I could use one of my dirt cheap point & shoots like the Minolta Riva Zoom 70W (in the US known as the Freedom Zoom Explorer 70W), but with the cost of film these days, I'd be out over $ 160 US on film alone, and then it stops being frugal. With that kind of film cost, I'd want to use a much better camera. But, I do look forward to seeing what you come up with over the year.
Yes it’s a real challenge trying to stay in the rules and finding an affordable combo to use for a year. I also sympathise re the gloomy conditions, I used to live in the UK 🌧️ Hope you can shoot some film soon NP!
I took part in this project this year, but I found it a bit of a pain in the ass to use the same camera and film for 12 months. Finishing a roll a month also kept me away from using other cameras, I like and especially new films, I wanted to test. Plus … my fridge is bursting from old film, partly expired already. Does it really make sense to buy 12 rolls of new film again ( only to get 12 rolls of the same film ) instead of using, what is already there ? Honestly, I would find this project much more interesting, if we could use a different camera and film every month. 🤷🏼♂️
I understand your reasoning perfectly! That’s exactly why I haven’t taken part in previous years since 2019. My colour film supplies were getting low so with the good deal from that new lab the stars aligned for me in 2024! There’s actually a project that might suit you - I saw a new instagram account 12monthsonfilm - where you shoot a different combination each month!
@@MattLovesCameras Thanks for the information. It’s just, that I only have a private Instagram account ( and want to keep it that way ), so that I can’t share pictures from there. So a Facebook group is the much better platform for such a project. However, I might just take a break and be back in 2025, who knows ?

Ha ha yes I know buddy! Mine sadly was not 5 bucks 😂 hope you bag one cheap sometime in the future my friend 🍀
yeaaa!!! looking forward to seeing your images in the group :)
Thanks so much Molly 🥳😁
Great choice Matt! Stylus epics are so nice. The black one is my person favorite.
Thanks Gab! I have the MJU 1 in black! Great cameras 😊

Woohoo so great to have you onboard Trevor! Here’s to a frugal 2024! 😁

Oh wow very cool Christina! Ultra max is slightly more expensive here than color plus. Can’t wait to see your shots in 2024!
@@MattLovesCameras same can’t wait to see your shots from the FFP as well.

Woohoo, great camera choice! Glad you’re onboard for 2024! 🥳
Looking forward to seeing what you create for the FFP!
Thanks Alex! Keen to see what you create too!

I have a Canon P&S from about 20 years ago but I have no idea what it cost. So do I have to have some proof of purchase?
No proof of purchase needed! If you think it was under $75 usd you’ll be good to go! 😊
I’m too frugal to use film on my less expensive cameras lol 🙃
Ha ha yes this is the sad state of film in 2023/24!

I found my Leica MP in a thrift store for USD5. Does that count? :)
If you really did get it for 5 bucks I think it does! 😂
More importantly, I’d like to know the address of that thrift store!
Liar!
Yes, it qualifies. It's what you paid for it, not the street value of the camera. A very frugal find, indeed!
@@tekoppentekoppen761 I have found ALL of my cameras for $5 at a thrift store - that is what I tell my wife. :)
