  • Today we take a look at my favorite camera bag! Since most of my work is done in the outdoors, it's mandatory for me to have equipment that can stand up to rugged environments, and all kinds of weather conditions. I am the cinematographer for a company called Eberlestock, which is a brand known for their backcountry hunting and military bags/packs. This video is not sponsored by them in any way, however, I have come to love using their R3 Upranger as my primary bag for carrying bulk camera equipment in outdoor and studio scenarios.

I love the bag, but I already have 5 or 6 camera backpacks. I noticed you walking with camera in hand. I am looking for a simple pack with a shoulder support to carry the camera on my belly for quick access. The binos harness is the closet I see with the handwarmer that wont support the weight of my R6 with 100-500 in the handwarmer. Any fanny pack I can wear in front with a harness to keep the weight of my gear making a fanny pack slip down while walking would be ideal.

I do tend to carry a camera in hand while I shoot since I constantly find myself pulling up the camera to check compositions, and I definitely don’t give this setup a 10/10 for speedy access or convenience to grabbing a camera quickly… however I typically have Peak Design clips attached to the front straps, so my camera will just hang off the front of my bag! Although it’s not ideal, I have been able to carry a Canon C70 with a Sigma 150-600mm lens on a single clip on one strap, with the Canon R5 and 70-200mm lens on the other strap. So there are ways to add accessories for additional carrying methods, though they may not fit everyone’s needs!

Thanks Jay. I cant get into all those clip on options. I just need to find a fanny pack large enough, that has a shoulder support to hold it up and a belt around my belly to keep it from flopping. When I am hiking around and see that trophy, I just reach down to my fanny pack right in front for quick access.@@Jay_Fritts
