    Of course he doesn't feel remorse, he stabbed his friend 114 times. It always amazes me people seem to look for remorse in people who do things like this. That was the high point of his life to him.

    • @AlexAndra-iy5zu
      @AlexAndra-iy5zu ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Ppl expect remorse because they have a conscious. For “normal “people they assume that crazy people would have remorse. It’s hard to fathom that someone would not have remorse after killing a person. That’s a normal thought. I don’t believe some people understand that if you can stab a person 114 times and it’s your friend they are definitely not normal

    • @LavenderSky33
      @LavenderSky33 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It's because 'normal' people view things from their own personal inner view. Those people will have a concious, empathy, etc so will view a crime like this expecting remorse to be shown.
      However you are right in your point that you made, people who commit a crime like this do not have the ability to even know what remorse is let alone have any. So there is no surprise they don't present with having any.

    Hey Dr. G! Thank you for doing this video!
    It's really disturbing that was so attentive and hanging on every word about the details of Tristyn's injuries, even looking the witness in the eyes, but was totally disinterested in victim impact statements or how he has affected their lives. Then seemed angry that they were holding him accountable in their statements.
    He had no shame whatsoever, zero empathy, and no remorse at all.
    He would absolutely do it again. He enjoyed every minute of the kill. The little sh*t has been threatening the smaller kids in juvy forcing them to give him their commissary or he said when he got out of lockdown and into reg population he would stab them to death and look them in the eyes while he did it. He can't even act right when he's on trial for killing someone.
    I am a believer in the opportunity for rehabilitation and a chance to use the tools they learn back in society. However, this young man is can not be rehabilitated in my opinion. After being locked up at such a young age, for the next 25 years with the big dawgs before he even has a review, he will be so hardened and so evil that there's no way he can be among society. What a waste of two lives for NOTHING. Shame on him!!!

    • @drgexplains
      @drgexplains  ปีที่แล้ว +37

      It was unspeakably tragic to listen to the medical examiner gives details of the injuries. While it is a subset of people, there are some people that are very unlikely to be capable of rehabilitation. There is no reason to believe he wouldn't do something like this again if given the opportunity.

    • @KatSpade1018
      @KatSpade1018 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      @@drgexplains Agreed. Even though prison is "supposed" to be considered a place for rehabilitation, it seems more likely to bring out the darker side of people. It breeds hate and loneliness and turns people cold. Aiden is obviously bulking up trying to prepare himself for the day he gets transferred to the men's penitentiary so he is aware, somewhat. Unfortunately for him, he has no idea what's waiting.
      114 times, a 13 yr old little girl... That's not going to go well for him. I guess we reap what we sow.

    I think the only person he actually feels ashamed for is his grandmother. He clearly lacks empathy with his parents, which suggests to me that he doesn’t have a strong emotional bond with them. Worse than that, he’s really not sorry for the lives he’s ruined. Rather, he acts uninterested with what the members of victim’s family have to say. You could literally see him growing impatient with how long the trial is going.
    Great review on this, Dr. G. I’d love to see your analysis on other cases too.

      Not having a strong emotional bond with his parents could be on them. I was crazy about my grandparents, but you’re supposed to be.
      I think you hit a nerve because my parents were terrible people and the bond I have with them is not positive and it’s not my fault. I’m not defending Aidan, but your point is interesting and it makes me wonder about his parents. The act is all on him, but I wonder if they reinforced his…whatever is wrong with him, or were not able to have an effect or what. Dahlmer’s father just wanted him to straighten up and fly right and him ma didn’t see anything wrong with bringing road kill home and performing dissections on them. I’m going to google them to see any statements they made, Aidens parents I mean.

Even if such people have no empathy for others, I can never understand how they think it is worth it to satisfy their desires and pay with it with their lives, while harming their own family. l I read the book 'Let Me Take You Down' about Mark Chapman who murdered John Lennon and this gave an insight into his mind. It is unlikely that Chapman will ever be released.

      Pretty much anybody who does something completely evil and insane is demonically possessed. Richard Ramirez was possessed (and he knew it), David Berkowitz was possessed (and he knew it), Jeffrey Dahmer was possessed--I don't think he knew it, but he did religiously watch a possession scene from The Exorcist Pt. 3 before killing people (this is according to the man who escaped from him; Tracy Edwards). Even this Fucci kid; if you search for "Fucci demons" on TH-cam you can see him fearfully muttering about how demons want to take his soul. That guy Darell Brooks, if you do some digging you will find some drugs, or some occultism or something that opened up a portal to a dimension that he either liked or was not strong enough to resist, and the rest is history. That is the secret ingredient everybody misses with murderers of this sort: demonic possession.

    This case is eerily similar to a murder that occurred in my small midwestern town back in the late nineties. A 16 year old boy murdered his 17 year old female friend. He wanted her for a girlfriend but she friend zoned him.
    The kid had a tough life as his mother was a dope head and his father remained a mystery. He was living in a flop house supporting himself and 14 year old brother by working in a grocery store. This is where he met the girl.
    One Saturday night she came to his room in the flop house to watch movies and eat pizza. She thought he was her friend. When she dozed off he viscously stabbed and choked her. When she was dead he then had sex with her corpse.
    At the trial he claimed to not know why he did it but just snapped and apologized profusely to her family.
    He got life without parole but committed suicide in prison soon afterward. Such a tragedy.
    The strange thing about this case was that this kids extended family seemed to be cursed with death. Illness, cancer, suicide. His aunt was a murder victim along with her infant daughter. Now he was not only a murderer but also a suicide.
    I swear that family was cursed.
    And to add to this bizarre story the farm his mother grew up on had been previously owned by a troubled WW2 vet who murdered both his wife as well as his mother in law back in 1963. At his trial he too could not explain his actions.
    Makes one think.

      My family lived in a small French village for about 4 years when I was 4 to 8 years old. It was like that...
      One poor little school friend's Dad blew his brains out because his wife was both adulterous and abusive... My Mom helped clean the mess... (this was the 1960s, there were no professional police post-crime cleaning teams).
      A woman committed suicide by jumping in a well... Some men were horrible bullies... There were awful stories in that village.

    Lived with a psycho for 13 years.
    The more they are able to play with your emotional well being, the happier they get.
    Takes a long time to decipher what is real and what is fake. Be vigilant of your false sense of of reality . So hard to do as you are becoming a victim, but your spider senses are your clue. Pay attention and don’t move forward in a relationship as soon as you have the slightest inclinations. The moment they lie to you, take from you, hold you responsible for their wrong doing…. You move along and get the he** out! Now! Not a minute later!

    There was one part in the sentencing where it was read to the young psychopath that Tristan trusted him. I noticed it was one of the times he looked down. I actually think he took it as a compliment or as a needed supply to feed his ego. As in “I’m so good. So loved. Even my victim loved me because she trusted me. This means that I am good. She trusted me. I’m good.”

    I think there is a blackmail dimension in this story that wasn't appropriately portrayed in various media outlets. What was she doing with Tre? And why Aiden came to pick her up at 1 AM? He doesn't even own a car. So what was the point behind that story. It seems there was a video between the victim and Tre that was recorded at one point by Aiden and he intended to use it as a blackmail tool that night but when it backfired, he killed her.

    How could anyone stab someone that many times and feel no remorse? Death penalty. That's a brutal way to die and he gets a slap on the wrist, because he is young? Why aren't these violent criminals being taken out the same way they did to someone else? Why is compassion shown to these criminals? They don't have any empathy, but they get empathy? Make the punishment tougher and get some these people an understanding of consequences. Get some real judges in the courtrooms! If he doesn't have empathy, he sure won't understand waking up to what he did to her everyday. He doesn't get it. Pathetic piece of garbage. Narcissists are just plain evil and they shouldn't be given empathy out of respect for the family of this girl.

      @Adara007 ปีที่แล้ว

      One of the issues with perpetrators of viciously violent crimes is that some will feign remorse both in court and to both clinicians evaluating them before trials and for parole board hearings. Those with ASPD with psychopathy will frequently feign remorse in such circumstances so it's important for clinicians to do thorough psychological assessments because of this issue.

    I feel a strong sense of empathy towards the whole situation. With one person having passed away and the other left with a significantly impaired life, there are no winners in this tragic circumstance. It is truly disheartening. Additionally, if there is indeed no remorse (although it is not for us to determine), alternative solutions should be considered instead of imprisonment since the irreversible nature of the situation calls for a different approach.

    People on the spectrum often have higher than average empathy, we just have a different style of communication. It's a misnomer that Autistic people don't have/have low empathy. Some do, but not many (just like with neurotypicals everyone is different). The diagnostic criteria is built around neurotypical people observing Autistic people, and not on Autistic experience. The double empathy problem talks about how Autistic people don't feel a whole lot of empathy from Allistics (non Autistics), and how Allistics don't feel it from Autistics - but Neurotypicals make up the bulk of the population and we are disabled in this environment - we wouldn't be if the world was built by us, it's a matter of environment and understanding. The diagnostic criteria needs an overhaul with Autistic input. It really annoys me when Psychopaths are compared to Autistics - I know you were doing this in a positive way, but it implies that there is some similarity or overlap and there is not! Your videos are great though, thanks!

    This was a 14 year old child who committed this outrageous act Is there any way that modern psychology can identify such madness/sickness/psychopathy in children before they commit a heinous act? Seems there were warning signs, including among others, the fact that he told several friends that he was going to kill someone within a month - was he crying out for help by telling them that or was that just bravado?

    • @drgexplains
      @drgexplains  ปีที่แล้ว +13

      There are almost always warning signs. People like this, also, generally tell someone they are going to do it. I don't see that as a cry for help, its more just sheer arrogance in this case in my opinion. We can most definitely identify it, but parents or friends or whomever is in their lives, have to be willing to not ignore signs when they see them. I have absolutely had the experience as a therapist of warning a family about concerns I had about a family member, and they quit as patients because they didn't like it.

    We must understand that persons with psychopatic nature aren't automatically deprived of what makes humans free persons that we can really value - reason, conscience and will. Otherwise, they could not even be held responsible for their actions.
    It is true that the emotional part is blocked with them, because they are dominated by abstract and strategic intelligence.
    But that doesn't mean they can't show repentance for their acts, because repentance is first and foremost based on a voluntary decision, which essentially is the only thing that makes repentance worthwhile instead of some emotion. In fact, many of the people with psychopathic behaviour can humble themselves to the ground when they experience total disaster or when they are overpowered so that they lose their power completely, through some disease for example.
