The 2nd in a series of 5 monthly talks by Pierre Grimes at the Theosophical Society's Besant Lodge in Hollywood (Los Angeles), California) on Dreamwork and Philosophical Midwifery following the Socratic Logos in Plato's dialogues. (Previous talk here.)
    Why Plato?
    Let's go to The Republic.
    "The Good", aka Nirvikalpa samadhi
"The Idea of the Good", aka Savikalpa samadhi, aka the most Brilliant Light of Being, aka Divine Luminosity, aka 'Mind'
Sun is to Light (in the physical world)
    AS
The Good is to the Divine Luminosity (in the metaphysical world)
How the Mind functions. Four levels.
    Image-Thinking (source is some belief)
What knowledge and Understanding are, and their relation to Divine Luminosity
The Allegory of the Cave and the Upper World as an example of ignorance (in cave) and knowing (in upper world), and becoming a philosopher.
    Education of the Philosopher
Family, culture, and indoctrination of ignorance/beliefs they gave you about yourself?
    Dreams: The way out
Pursuing Goals and getting blocked by these same unsuspected beliefs.
But achieving a meaningful/high goal means that we will have to change/drop our image of ourself.
Destiny and the Myth of Er as reflecting the above in symbolic form.
Dreams as Allegory, and their Impact, reflecting your past and impacting your future
Example dream exploration with Charisse L beginning at 0:22:00.

Incredible. It would be more obvious as Pierre stated that belief in one statement at the end. He described it in context, but I think people will miss it. So I’ll underline it: the girls problem was that no matter how important and big is something she is going through, she has no chance to communicate it to others, because she considers other peoples’ problems more important.
Other words: she plays down here experiences- no matter how significant they are- because she wants to keep others happy (compassion?)
How many of us have been doing just that?!
