Paul my dad wrote the manchester united calypso his name was Eric Watterson he wrote it for a competition he won in 1956 he was from bangor northern ireland 16 central avenue i have paper cuttings also explaining this and if you look in the middle of the record you can see his name Eric Watterson
I've got an old black & white photo of me as a toddler (circa 1957), wearing short pants and a United scarf with an old Dansette in the background. My mum told me this was the song that was playing and was the only one I would dance to.
TO THE PEOPLE WHO LOVE THE MANCHESTER UNITED CLUB I HOPE YOU ALL CONTINUE TO SING ALONG TO MY FATHERS SONG FOR A LONG TIME TO COME HE AND I LOVE AND LOVED THE CLUB SO MUCH
My grandparents had a 78 of this record, I went to stay with them when I was about 8 years old in Worsley, one day I accidentally sat on it and broke it, brings back lovely memories, thanks for posting this, haven’t heard it since 1966!
My dad and grandad used to play this when I was toddler. They'd put a red and white bobble hat on me and I'd dance round the room. Still got the pictures.
I had this on a man United clear floppy vinyl free from a fan magazine in about 1993, my mum threw it out was not happy, can imagine it would be worth a few quid now.... Great memories, great record and what a time to be a united fan.
To think that four years later, in 1961, on the same label, came the Spurs song credited to the Totnamites, being as Tottenham Hotspur reached the final of the FA Cup that year!
Who’s here after the Glazers sold the soul of the club and everything it represents for a shitty new “competition” that goes against everything we are supposed to mean.
Two academy players scoring in the FA Cup final yesterday. Sir Matt Busby’s legacy continues
Hearing this played at Wembley shows you can't beat a Classic!
This needs to be played at Old trafford more often
should replace "this is the one" as the walkout song
Erik Ten Hag taking us back to where we belong❤

Best version. Fans sing it far too fast in the ground.

We sing it everywhere.
chris watterson that will be sung forever.
The best football song ever written.
Your dad was awesome
Should play this when teams enter the pitch for kick off
Mike Ross agreed. I like the stone roses but this should be the club anthem not just a pre game warm up song.
This used to be played pre match
i was at a game the other day and they played it
Awesome song ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

This song should have been the only memorial song about the Busby Babes. Since Munich should never have happened in first place.
That fantastic team, would have gone on to win many more trophies ( wizardry by Matt Busby!)
