  • The plaintiff says he bought an accordion from the defendant and was told it was in perfect working order. He claims he brought it to an expert when he got it home and found out wires were corroded, so he’s suing for a refund. The defendant says she was selling her grandfather’s accordion and that a wire was missing, but it still worked.

Respect to "Gerry" but on accordions of this type, the bass buttons can be muted by pressing one of the black register keys. This accordion has five (situated above the black buttons on the left hand keyboard.) I notice that the player doesn't seem to have checked this before or during playing.) The fact that none of the bass keys played would indicate that the register key hadn't "registered" or was switched in the "off" position. So, it doesn't appear to be a cable problem at all.

    Owned Several Cordovox models.
    1. Bass section (left side) not playing can be solved by simply pressing one of the voice selector switches (the long near the bellows). It likely did not play because the 'off' switch was depressed. That's a feature on this instrument used to turn off the acoustic sound for playing only the electronics. There's one on right hand side and on on left. Electronics need to be hooked up by a very thick multi wire connector, called the firing cable. It is normally stored in the back of the tone generator unit. If there is a separate speaker/amp unit, that also needs to connect to the generator. It takes a minute or two to hook it all up. It's not just one 1/4" audio cable.

Actually, for $500 and getting all of the gear associated with the accordion (speakers, amp, etc) it "could be" a great deal. I would say buy it. Have a technician go over the system and get it working once again. These units have a beautiful sound once operational.

If the right side of the accordion worked without going through the speaker, so should the left side have worked. The accordion did not need to go through a speaker to be heard, as Geri clearly demonstrated. There may have been an internal issue in the instrument, but it more likely was something as simple as a "mute" register switch activated on the left side that needed to be turned off for the accordion to sound (Geri didn't try any of the left hand register switches at all, which leads me to believe she doesn't play much). In any case the problem had nothing to do with the amplifier.

@@morritalopez2717 They never showed or claimed that the speaker didn't work - they never even plugged the accordion into it. The plaintiff claimed the instrument didn't work, but he never clearly explained exactly what (according to him) was supposed to be the problem. He never said the "the left hand doesn't play at all" - the woman who got up to play said that, but I suspect that happened only because there was a "mute" register switch activated. She only played a couple of buttons and didn't try any of the register switches at all, so she really had no idea what she was talking about either.

Does anybody else want to punch the guy at the end that interviews the plaintiff and the defendant? He just asks dumb questions and he is just so irritating!!! They need to get a new interview person for the end!!!!
