- It is told that both Queen Elizabeth II and President Jomo Kenyatta visited Castle Forest Lodge when they were students. The main house, where the restaurant is located was built in 1910 with rivers rocks and wood from the surrounding forest.
This lodge had very basic but very cozy accommodations. They also have good food and a variety of activities from fishing to horseback riding and of course forest walks.
Our only complaint was that the price per night was a little expensive for the type of food and accommodation you get.

Kenya has all the climatic conditions. From the beaches on the African eastern coast of diani, the hot desert climate in chalbi, the cold desert climate on the snow of mt Kenya, Savannah, tropical forests, moorland, bamboo zones and all. Where else in the world complete with the line of equator cutting through the middle of the country ?
And that's what we love about Kenya too! :)

Speaking of Queen Elizabeth, she did ascend to the throne while she was at Treetops lodge,in Nyeri(not sure if at the Aberdares or Mt Kenya park)

Nice and chilled out spot. Accommodation was definitely overpriced for the amenities. Yes, there are parts of Kenya that are negative 0 temps, especially in the night. These are mainly the parts of Kenya that were classified as the "White Highlands" during the colonial/settler times and they tend to have cold temperatures.
It was chilly but still nice :p
there is a new place where 99.9% of Kenyans don't know about .The place is called iria maina caves and fall in bomet you can make a beautiful adventure there but if you want to go there make sure you carry a raincoat

This looks like it would be a great experience of life in the years past. Great potential for that unique experience. They could also include a mini museum telling it's history and that of the area. It reminds me of my grandparents homestead back in the day.

Wow! -1 degrees? Didn't know that. I thought that only occurs on the tops of mountains in Kenya. The fact that that kind of temperature is kind of warm for Canadians interests me. I would like to visit Canada some day during winter. The cold must be bitterly sweet.
Its not that warm for us either loll Canada gets really hot during summer like in the 40s but I have also seen -50 during winter.
On the nature front, this is probably the most scenic video of Kenya on your channel. The firewood heist and the accompanying music was epic.

She was at treetops when she got the message her dad passed and she was now queen. Historic place.
That was much later on in life. She went to this place when she was a student,

My home area this (Kirinyaga). I always visit this place whenever I am home, absolutely therapeutic. My first visit to the Castle was in 1996 when I was 10 years old...

@@DaveMani It is. I grew up there and although I live in Nairobi now, I always create time to go up there and unwind whenever I travel home. My daughter loves it there especially playing with the horses and the dogs! 💯😆
One brave Canadian couple visiting Mt Kenya during the cold season. The simple life can sometimes be expensive ☺️. Peace of mind 😁.

Amazing environment, but for 160USD a night I think it should have better facilities at least. Instant hot shower at minimum, and a bit more maintenance, the spaces looked a bit unclean and old. Otherwise as you said it would be overpriced.

You guys are so lenient with your rating of the place.. Such a cold place one needs a nice hot shower with good water pressure. The bathroom does not look that clean?? The food looks good though..

@@lifehacks1019 Actually the proposal was at the Rutundu cabins on Lake Rutundu, not Lewa. The cabins if not wrong are owned by the Froome family. A former Kenya cyclist, who later raced for Britain and won several Tour de France titles is from the family.

Hi Guys! Love watching your videos ❤ I honestly have been very confused about entry to Kenya when it comes to the COVID 19 vaccines. I have heard different things and was just wondering if you all know if one needs to be vaccinated to travel to Kenya? The last I heard was that all you need is a negative PCR test before traveling there, but the proof of vaccination is no longer needed. Do you know if this is true? I was in Kenya in 2017 and want to go back, but need to know this information before planning my trip.
You need nothing if you are vaccinated and a PCR if you are not.
