Chris Hunter is the best alto sax player alive today. He has the most unique sound and unbelievable technique. He really should be a lot more famous than he is.
I think he's on an ARB 7* on this recording... and JAVA Green reeds. He has used Dukoffs as well. I've heard guys on Beechler Bellites with a similar sound as well. Anything with high baffle will get you there! Although these pieces tend to be hard to control.
OMG! Chris Hunter is the greatest in the whole world. It's crazy that he's not more popular. I'd love to train with him for just one day. Go Chris Go!
I loved that tenor's solo.. maaaan that lick at 3:05 that he does. Really great idea.
Did you notice Mr Hunter look at George with that how cool was that look
Chris Hunter absolutely killed that solo! That was awesome!

@ThurchSiren That's an amazing sound alright..!
its incredible, the sound of the alto, I just don't know how he does it (translation courtesy of Thurch Siren)
es inconfundible el sonido de ese alto, no se como le hace para que le suene asi.
Someone once described Chris Hunter as David Sanborn with balls
Why?
While alto Chris blows my mind absolutely, the tenor O.G is melodically smooth and relevantly "caring".
These guys are greatissimo!
Indeed!! Both great signature sounds we all should strive for! I love this video!!🎼🎼🎼🎵🎵🔥
@Pellel1994 what is multiphonics? tks
Does anyone know If Chris was playing on a Dukoff? Because his tone sounds very bright and powerful almost like David Sanborn. But awesome.
***** Thanks man, I looked up the mouthpiece and it sounds great and it isn't too expensive.
Jeremy McCant what's the mouthpiece?? I want to know too!!

最高やわ☆
@falseaddress010 A lot of his sound is actually him playing right on the edge of losing his notes, a common trick with people like David Sanborne.
Actually, there is no processing on the alto.
@ThurchSiren
It's a mixture of singing and "playing" with the throat. That's the way i do it.... ;-) Difficult to explain....
Nice arrangement. My preference leans heavily toward a darker alto sound.
is the mouthpiece. I have an ebanite mouthpiece is totaly different, but mine is near to this metal mouthpiece
i think he's using some kind of system to modify his sound a bit
killer

Chris who ? Ouf.
テナーの人のソロウケるww
Good sax playing, but I just can't stand when players (especially talented ones) play the cheese of cheese.
alto needs to play those high D's and above in tune
