Howl finds a mysterious old woman in his house Howl: who are you? Old Woman: I'm the new cleaning lady. Howl: well, I didn't hire you but that checks out.

Apparently, Calcifer was dying inside the entire time, because the Markle had a lot to talk about, and the fireball was the only pair of ears available.
The entire movie is a loop, at the end when Sophie tells howl to find her it starts the loop so he doesn't question it when the mysterious girl who told him to find her appoints herself as the new cleaning lady
The part about Michael being turned into a child because for Howl a 15 year old is a baby who does baby things lmao, and also it's very on par with his personality to randomly make up being a magnificient bird-man
And it wasn't silent like the movie, I feel like he looked so calm but when his tantrum started it was like that one vine "Release all of the sounds that are trapped in your mind.."
Hate to say it but this is just a joke someone posted that got spread around like truth. The reason he has a moving castle in the book is to avoid the Witch of the Waste - and it's in general a metaphor for him running away from his responsibilities. He probably doesn't pay taxes though. He has a tendency for scamming the monarchy out of their money.
You know your career has peaked when you've been Peeta from Hunger Games, Markle from Howl's Moving Castle, AND Mike Schmidt from Five Nights at Freddy's. If i was Josh I'd be proud of myself rn.
I absolutely love that movie, but ever since I read the books, I just keep thinking "howl is just some dude from Wales" and it makes me love it even more.
Whenever I think about this movie I think about a Howl cosplayer that was at a con I went to. Specifically I think about the Whose Line is it Anyway inspired panel and when they were in a scene (I forgot what the game was exactly but that's not important) and the other person said "I'm just a dumb blonde!" And Howl immediately went "So am I!" Which feels so on brand for Howl. Edit: I'm sorry someone smeared peanut butter on a DVD from the library?! What? Why? Who let them? I have too many questions
Sophie and Howl have a relatively big age gap (she's 19 and he's 27), but i can get on board with it because he was already into Sophie when she looked like she was 95 (also in the book it's very sweet that when Sophie turns back Howl tells her that he was hoping the whole time she would be the beautiful girl he met at the city)
Yeah… as someone who’s trying to get into more anime, this put me off quite a bit (the physical age gap, ignoring that Sophie turns into a elderly woman). But the story’s still ovely nonetheless.
@@skinkshamer i'd say the age gap is less apparent in the book because Sophie is very mature (being the eldest child in a fantasy land) and Howl is very immature, so there's no power imbalance caused by age, which is nice
@@bluesheep7 if it helps, their ages in the movie aren't necessarily the same as their ages in the book, since all the characters changed at least a little bit, some being fused together and others becoming complety different ones (like how Michael, Howl's 15 year old assistant who is dating and hopes to marry Sophie's youngest sister, became Marco, Howl's six-year old assistant who looks nothing like Michael's description in the book), Sophie's hair color is completely different in the book and the whole thing with Howl being a bird man is only present in the movie. Even the war itself, that is the main conflict in the movie, is purely background in the book. I don't see why Sophie's and Howl's ages couldn't have been changed when their personalities certainly were, and a lot. Book Sophie is an unstoppable force and book Howl is an immovable object, and this certainly isn't an accurate description of their movie counterparts. Their age gap in the book honestly isn't even noticeable if you're not willing to do some maths to figure out Howl's age, and it isn't an issue because there is no power imbalance between them, but it doesn't really seem to exist in the movie, movie Howl seems to be younger and less childish than his book counterpart (he takes care of a 6 year old, while the 15 year old that lives with the other Howl has to hide money so he doesn't end up overspending).

We slept over in a RV outside my friend's house. And my friend who was half asian and loved anime wanted to watch this movie with us.
