    @Sanu Motors with Charlie Did you ever came across water pump slipping issue with that exact engine? Should the coolant pressure increase with the engine revs? I have disconnected the return pipe of the coolant expansion tank and I can see the flow on idle but it stops with revs up. Do you think this would be the water pump?

    • @sanumotorswithcharlie
      @sanumotorswithcharlie  หลายเดือนก่อน

      The situation you described does sound suspiciously like a potential water pump issue. Here’s a detailed breakdown of what might be happening and how you can approach diagnosing the problem:
      ### 1. **Water Pump Slipping Issue**
      - **Slipping Water Pump Belt/Pulley:** If the belt driving the water pump is slipping, the pump won't be able to circulate coolant effectively, particularly at higher engine speeds. This could lead to the symptoms you're describing, where coolant flow appears normal at idle but diminishes as revs increase.
      - **Impeller Damage:** If the impeller inside the water pump is damaged or slipping on the shaft, it may not be moving coolant efficiently, leading to reduced flow with higher engine speed.
      ### 2. **Coolant Pressure Increase with Engine Revs**
      - **Expected Behavior:** Generally, you would expect coolant pressure to increase with engine revs due to increased flow and heat generation. However, if the flow stops when you rev the engine, it suggests that something is preventing the pump from moving the coolant properly.
      ### 3. **Checking the Coolant Return Pipe Flow**
      - **At Idle:** Seeing flow in the return pipe at idle is normal, as the water pump is circulating coolant through the system.
      - **Flow Stopping at Higher RPMs:** If the flow stops when you increase the engine speed, it could indicate that the water pump isn't maintaining pressure or circulation as it should. This is often due to the pump not functioning correctly under load.
      ### 4. **Possible Diagnoses**
      - **Water Pump Failure:** Given the symptoms, it does sound like the water pump could be at fault. It might be that the impeller is not engaging properly or that the pump is simply worn out.
      - **Belt Tension:** If the belt driving the pump is too loose or slipping, it might not drive the pump effectively at higher engine speeds.
      - **Coolant Blockage:** Although less likely, a blockage in the cooling system could also cause similar symptoms, as the pump might struggle to push coolant through a restricted path at higher RPMs.
      ### 5. **Next Steps**
      - **Inspect the Water Pump:** If you haven't already, inspect the water pump for any obvious signs of wear or damage. If accessible, check the impeller to ensure it's still firmly attached and spinning correctly.
      - **Check Belt Tension:** Ensure that the belt driving the water pump is properly tensioned and not slipping.
      - **Coolant System Pressure Test:** A pressure test on the cooling system might help confirm if there’s an issue with pressure not building up as it should, which could indicate a faulty pump or a leak somewhere in the system.
      If the pump turns out to be the culprit, replacing it should restore normal coolant flow. Given the importance of the water pump in maintaining engine temperature, addressing this issue promptly is crucial to avoid potential engine overheating and damage.
      If you continue to have issues after these checks, it might be worthwhile to consult a professional or refer back to the specific engine's service manual for further guidance.

    Hi Charlie,
    May I know why did you replace this vehicles' water pump? Was there any issues being experienced by the owner?
    Thank you.

    • @sanumotorswithcharlie
      @sanumotorswithcharlie  24 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      The water pump was replaced not due to any immediate issues but as part of a preventative maintenance strategy, since the timing belt was also being replaced. This is considered a good practice to avoid future problems and to ensure reliability.
      Let me know if you need any more details!
      Thank You

      Thanks for watching! While the basic principles of replacing a cambelt and water pump are similar, the specific steps and parts might differ for the Vauxhall Vivaro 1.5 Sportive 2020. I recommend consulting the Vivaro's service manual or a professional mechanic for precise instructions. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask

    Sadly cannot find any of the torque values and torquing sequence for the screws. There are no service manual or information available online. Does anyone have this information?

    • @sanumotorswithcharlie
      @sanumotorswithcharlie  11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      For the Peugeot Expert cambelt and water pump replacement, specific torque values and tightening sequences are usually detailed in official service manuals, which can be challenging to find online. Here's a general guide to assist you with common torque settings and procedures for Peugeot engines, but please ensure these values are cross-checked with a reliable source if possible, as variations might exist depending on the specific engine model.
      ### General Torque Values and Sequence:
      1. **Timing Belt Tensioner Bolt**: 20-25 Nm
      2. **Timing Belt Idler Pulley Bolt**: 30-35 Nm
      3. **Water Pump Bolts**: 10-12 Nm
      4. **Crankshaft Pulley Bolt**: 70-90 Nm, then tighten an additional 60 degrees.
      5. **Camshaft Pulley Bolt**: 50-60 Nm
      6. **Engine Mount Bolts**: 50-60 Nm
      ### Step-by-Step Torquing Sequence:
      1. **Water Pump**: Tighten the bolts in a criss-cross pattern to ensure even distribution of pressure, starting from the center and working your way outward.
      2. **Timing Belt**: When fitting the belt, ensure the tension is correct as per the belt tensioner guidelines. After installing the tensioner and idler pulley, rotate the engine manually two full turns and recheck the tension.
      3. **Crankshaft Pulley**: Tighten the pulley bolt using a torque wrench to the specified torque and then follow the additional angle tightening specification.
      4. **Camshaft Pulley**: Ensure the correct alignment of timing marks before torquing the bolts.
      ### Important Tips:
      - Always replace bolts that are stretch bolts, as reusing them can cause failure.
      - Double-check for any updates or service bulletins specific to your Peugeot Expert model year and engine type.
      - If you don't have access to the exact service manual, consider using a reputable third-party automotive repair manual, such as Haynes or Autodata, which might have the specific information you need.
      If you can provide the exact engine model and year, I can help further refine these values.

      @@sanumotorswithcharlieHi again, and thanks for the detailed answer. My issue is that I don't find any official and third-party service manual for my peugeot expert traveller 2.0 bluehdi 177ps 2018. Even peugeot doesn't offer any service manual to a particular/private person, only to businesses. That's why I'm trying to gather information from any possible corner before I start removing the water pump (it has failed).

    • @sanumotorswithcharlie
      @sanumotorswithcharlie  9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It sounds frustrating not being able to access the necessary service manual for your Peugeot Expert Traveller. For specific models like yours, auto data systems like Autodata, HaynesPro, or platforms like AllDataDIY can sometimes provide the repair information you need. Additionally, forums and communities dedicated to Peugeot or similar vehicles might have users who have gone through the same process and can offer step-by-step guidance.
      If you haven't already, you could also try reaching out directly to mechanics or workshops specializing in Peugeot models; they might have access to the necessary documentation and could be willing to share insights or instructions for the water pump removal. If you'd like, I can help look for more detailed steps or guides to assist you with this task!

    Do you know if the 2023 vivaro has a belt or chain many thanks or even the dreaded wet belt

    • @sanumotorswithcharlie
      @sanumotorswithcharlie  หลายเดือนก่อน

      The 2023 Vauxhall Vivaro features a timing belt for its 1.5-liter diesel engines. This is different from some other engines in the Vauxhall lineup that use a timing chain. It’s important to note that the timing belt in the Vivaro is not a "wet belt," which is known to be problematic in some engines. Regular maintenance and timely replacement of the timing belt are crucial to ensure the longevity and proper functioning of the engine. If you have further questions or need specific details about maintenance intervals, referring to the owner's manual or consulting a Vauxhall service center would be advisable.
