With the longer knife that was touching the table when turning anyone with half a brain would have set up the knife sharpener overhanging the edge of the table.
the knife hanging over the edge or the table with kids and pets running around was a little too precarious, but great job on embodying the ‘grouchy keyboard warrior’ npc archetype. @@CedricAda It takes a thick skin to make a TH-cam video. Having made a handful of sharpening videos gives me a greater appreciation of the work you have done for many years. Thank you very much! If you were in the US you are just the sort of mate I'd like to share a pint with. 😎👍🍺 Thanks again.

I just figured out why the angle cube is so important. It's why you don't have to obsess over the exact placement of the knife in the clamps, since the cube makes sure the angle is the same as previous sharpenings. This took me years to finally cotton to. Not sure if I should be embarrassed or proud.
I feel like making a wooden stand with a pull out drawer for this guy would be the ultimate. You could store the accessories and raise it up allowing for long knife flipping. Great review.
I have the TSPROF Blitz Pro, and I'm very satisfied with it. However it is rather expensive, so it's nice to se a more affordable TSPROF.👍 Thank you for sharing.
Very nice initial review, Pete! These two TS Prof sharpeners really get my attention. However, the portability and outstanding tech support of my KME keep me loyal to them. KME portability design and carrying case make it easy for me to take my sharpener to a friends home to sharpen their knives, rather than them schlepping their knives to my home. But this Pioneer sure looks like a nice sharpener. THANKS PETE!!!!!
Thank you so much for sharing your experience and thoughts regarding the new tsprof pioneer, knife, sharpener. You literally saved me from spending an extra $2,600 (Australian ). Now thanks to your video I feel confident in purchasing the pioneer or the cadet version whereas the pioneer is worth ~$340 Though the full system with extras actually cost $3000! Thank you so very much and wish you a G’day. I’ll definitely be watching and subscribing to your TH-cam channel. Ciao! All the best.
Clamping some kind of rigid pedestal between the table top and TSProf base would give you enough clearance to flip kitchen-sized knives. I nominate Bricky.
I just bought one today to replace my KME. It was time to move on from the good ol days😅 do you like the TSPROF over the KME as far as build quality? Or is it just a preference to go for one company over another? Thanks for the content, never miss a video😎👊
TSProf is definitely better build quality for sure. KME is no slouch though, the TSProf is of course pricier which is why this pioneer is so intriguing.
I graduated from my KME to this KO-3. The KME is a great set-up, too - I just wanted something more. No regrets at all with the TSPROF! Incredible tool...
I have a suggestion for you. Drill a couple of holes in the base of the sharpener and screw it down to a board. Now you won't have to clamp it down. If you make the board the right length, it will be over the table so you won't have to worry about it hanging over the edge like you were talking about in this video. Just a suggestion but it worked for my sharpener quite well. I really enjoy your videos and look forward to when you releasing one. Thanks - Later
Not necessary as there are already holes in the base to do just that. If you watch the video you'll catch that there are two pre-drilled holes ready to mount the base to whatever you choose. I would probably mount it to a thicker piece of heavy lumber. Something that will anchor it as well as raise it high enough to prevent large knives from hitting any surface below. Or of course you could just mount it so it hangs off a table edge.
Hi Pete!! Fun Fact: I played your Cursed Advocate video for my wife (went in cold, she was not prepared, full video experience) and she just told me that when I die it will be 30 minutes earlier than destiny had planned because she is owed that time now.

Great video! Was going to get the Work Sharp professional Precision adjust until I saw this at about the same price. My question is would it be able to sharpen a skinny blade like the CEO or the civivi clavi? Thx!
The stone holder should index on the stone's front sharpening surface instead of clamping onto the back. Then when you end up with a dozen different thicknesses of stones you won't be trying to match the angles.
Only thing that you would need is a deeper clamp and set the sharpener system in the corner of the table. Still having it hang off the edge of the table. Love my Blitz 360 that Jarad recommended 😊
Silly me, I didn't see this as a scary thing, but fortunately Mother Yootoob suppressed the new video notification to let me know this is another thing to be feared. Praise be the Benevolent Overlords!
What is the best solution for full flat grinds (considering centrical alignment) and also sharpening the Leatherman blade? Is this tsprof the right tool for these 2 applications?
