Dude, I have to write this:
This game spoke to me in ways I still can't properly describe. The atmosphere is reminiscent of the feeling I would have after waking up from night terrors and fever dreams in my childhood, of something fundamental being terribly, horribly wrong, yet not being able to determine, or even remember, why. The horror of drowning without dying.
When I was a child, I used to play Pokemon Emerald obsessively. I would google all the time, trying to find every piece of information I possibly could, scouring the Hoenn region for any and all pokemon that could possibly be caught. I wanted to be the best, the pokemon master. And that included legendaries.
Of course, most legendaries were event-exclusive. There was nothing I could to obtain, say, Mew. But in my research, I discovered the existence of the Regi Trio. Golems, fashioned from rock, ice, and steel by an unknown, ancient creator. But in order to obtain them, I first had to travel to the ocean floor.
This didn't make any sense to me, as a child. The Regi trio had nothing to do with the sea. They weren't even water-type. I almost thought it was a hoax. But I followed the instructions, no matter how arbitrary they seemed.
Diving to the bottom of the ocean in a very specific location, swimming along a long, pitch-black undersea canyon, with no oxygen. Reaching a rock formation, blindly reaching out, and reading the Braille inscriptions, too old and too far underwater for any man to have possibly carved. Going up, only to surface in a lightless cavern filled with giant, monolithic slabs, with yet more Braille.
In the back room of the cavern, the mounds read:
LONG DID WE LIVE HERE IN THIS CAVE.
ALL THANKS TO THE POWERFUL POKEMON LIVING ALONGSIDE US.
YET, WE SEALED THAT POKEMON AWAY, ALONE IN THE DARK.
    WE FEARED IT.
IF YOU HAVE THE COURAGE, IF YOU STILL HOLD TO HOPE,
OPEN THE DOOR. FOR BEYOND IT THE ETERNAL POKEMON WAITS.
To read and decrypt those words all those years ago, in the middle of the night, was so dreadfully horrifying I turned off the game without saving, and couldn't sleep at all. Nothing has given me that same sense of dread ever since, until today.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

considering that i love the ocean and everything related to palaeontology, even as a kid, and the older the better, that cave pulled me in like nothing else in the pokemon game series. in total, i must've spent a few hours in the sealed chamber. there was a primitive curiosity in me, spurred on by the mysterious and foreboding music, to finally find out what was hiding behind the braille. so yeah, i went along with the instructions just like you and followed through. was a little disappointing to find out it only unlocked three mythic pokemon, with no other lore to follow. it is understandable though, can't overload a children's game.
other than the old chateau (surrounding eterna forest included) and the send-off spring in pokemon d/p/pt, the sealed chamber is my favorite place and my favorite piece of music from the series.
i tend to leave that cave sealed on current playthroughs, just to evoke that sense of mystery and keep the echoes of a long gone past resounding within the ancient stone walls.

When I was a child, I was enrolled in a CCD class at my local church. Because of this I learned the basic concepts of Catholic and Christian values, and what separates Catholics from let's say Protestants. We were also taught about various Bible stories like Adam and Eve, and about Heaven. We were always taught that Heaven was a warm and happy place, and that angels were beautiful beings. That always brought me great peace to think that there could be a place like that. To think that every sect of Christianity could be wrong, and that heaven is a red tunnel under the ocean that is inhabited with primitive aquatic beings is truly horrifying. To think that everything we were taught would never prepare us for that. That's truly, truly horrifying! Ps I think the music's actually quite soothing in a way (is that weird?) so I've been listening to it while studying. I listened to it while memorizing my lines for my school musical, and thanks to this, I aced every performance! It's going to be weird to associate Annie with this, but it worked, so I want to thank you!!!

@@yames_games This is very interesting in a psychological perspective and also in a psychoanalytical perspective! You might not know why you make your games so weird, or you might actually know and it might just be a simple explanation but I tell you that it might not be so simple! Because what you create is truly art, it has some deeper meaning that even yourself might not be aware of!
Of course this sounds weird what I say, but it is true that one that creates art, such art like yours, even whilst thinking that the art that the individual has made is just a plain "Art piece", that it instead actually is more than that. Because for instance the movie and the story of Pinokkio is far more deep than what a normal person might portray it as, with many, many psychological meanings and psychoanalytical meanings, which the creator himself was not aware of, because sometimes you just "make" something and boom, its more than what you think it is!
So I think it is the same for you Yames, with both of your fantastic intellectually artistically games, Discover my body and WATER WOMD WORLD, that there is some deep meaning behind them that you might not be aware of! So Yames, what do you think, what is your art trying to say, what is its meaning, the meaning that you were not aware of when you made it?

i grew up in the south, so religion and religious related things terrify and intrigue me all the same. i find the concept of religion, the mindset of those who believe in their god(s), the rituals, everything to be fascinating, but my own personal experiences make me incredibly uncomfortable when i experience things firsthand. i also have an incredible fear of deep water/water i cant see far into. this game perfectly poked at both of these fears for me all while keeping me so interested i not only didnt want to chicken out, but just couldnt. i truly didnt want the experience to end. ive slowly been going through your other games and i love them all so far! keep up the good work c:

This game is superb. Legitimately some of the best theological sci-fi I’ve ever read. I’ve always loved the idea of combining Judeo-Christian mythology with cosmic horror, and this does it excellently. I got absolute chills during the visitation by the Angel. Mad props man.

I learned of your game's existence from AlphaBetaGamer. And let me just say, i absolutely loved it! What's funny, is that even if the soundtrack is meant to be disturbing. It is actually not at all. It is actually surprisingly comforting. It's so 'foreign' yet it feels so familiar. I tend to stay clear listening to disturbing things at night. But i absolutely have no problem listening to this. I actually listened to this entire video while trying to develop my original series one night, because the tone and vibe is EXACTLY what I've been searching for.
I feel that is such a genius take on the sound design. It's trying to tell you as if everything is all right. But in reality? It is far much more horrific. It's as if you are in the shoes which how the main character is supposed to be feeling!

    Hey, Yames.
This game was a total experience. it reminded me of my childhood. Have you ever heard of a game called 'Everblue 2'? It really reminded me of it. I grew up with the PS1 and PS2 throughout my early years. The first game I ever got for the PS2. When I was gifted the console, my father bought this game. It was the first game for the PS2 I had ever played . I still have it. Its one of my favorite games of all time. Very hard to come by with an emulator for it, since the game is very obscure. The game consists of you exploring the sea depths, looking for lost treasure and you also explore shipwrecks and crashes planes, submarines, (And even ruins of an ancient civilization) while avoiding dangers such as sharks and sea snakes. At first the game just presents you with a pretty coral reef, but then you reach places such as the deep dark sea. Your game really reminded me of these sections. The dread, finding things in the deep sands and even capturing strange fishes. The Oxygen tank even looks very similar to the one in the game! Or the text that appears when you encounter something, or the **dread** you feel when you are approached by a creature of the depths or find the ancient, lost ruins of a civilization.
All in all you captured in the essence of the sea very well. You should look the game up if you haven't seen it already! I'm sure you'll find it intriguing.

If you liked Everblue i would raccommend to try out also Endless Ocean 2 from the same developer, Arika. The first EO is ok, but the second one, with the story and ambient is full-on Water Womb World, even if less philosophical and unsettling. I'll always remember the sheer anxiety and amazement while exploring Antartica, the deep sea and the ancient civilizations ruins.

Didn't felt so entranced and unsettled by something since reading The Shadow Out of Time and The Color Out of Space, both by Lovecraft.
The fear of the unknown and the cosmic horror, the consciousness that we are just a little grain of sand in the vastity of the existence, the amazement created by the discovery of ancient and inexplicable objects and civilizations, the contraddiction of everything we belived until now, this is what I felt while both exploring both Lovecraft books and your game.
Another thing that i get from your game is desolation and contemplativeness. It's almost like entering a De Chirico's painting, it's destabilizing. All seems still, lost in time and empty, but also mysterious, as if, around every corner, lies another truth.
Really looking forward to see other works from you, man I would even gladly work on them as a programmer.
Hope you best of luck, Yames, keep dreaming and amaze us with your surreal, but also incredibly fitting, worlds.

I love the games you are making. Its exactly the type of horror I love. You seem to be very familiar with the religious themes you put in Water Womb World, it was making me very excited since I love religious horror but also study theology. I do wonder if the "Aqua-Eden" theory is a real theory that people believe in or if its an amalgamation of evolutionary "life comes from the ocean" combined with the JudeoChristian creation story. You seem to be very familiar with the topic due to how well you present it in the game, do you have a religious background of any sorts?

Any God to exist would be so conceptually beyond us, that believing we know them would be an ignorant grasp at the sky in hopes of grabbing something.
Pretending the Deep Ocean will ever be a normal place even if we chart every single square inch of it, that is heresy.
To look to an incompressible alien place on our very planet, to stare at our source of primordial soup and see God deep below
That is the purest of existential horrors, and I fucking love it

Love this. The atmospheres you create start so casual and carry themselves to horror on their own merits. Combine that with the low-rez visuals that make your brain fill in the blanks and it comes together in short but extremely punchy and memorable experiences that are 110% my jam.
You make the type of horror that I actually, genuinely enjoy as an experience, and not just a curiosity, like most "horror" generally does. I eagerly await what you create next. Thank you.

I played a couple of your games and the emotions I got from them were something ive not experienced before. they were an unsettling combination of dread, hopelessness and the terror you only feel in the worst nightmares. most of all, most unsettlingly, it was calming. the games made me feel an odd nostalgia, and when I say calm that's the first time ive meant that word negatively. I really hope more people realise how talented you are, the emotions your games and music can elicit are out of this world.

I hate story based games. You are my favorite creater of games ever, you are THAT good. For the love of coral please keep making games.
